Warning: there's guy guy relationships and Kevin and Joe aren't related. Also, the prologue's pretty long and I need feedback!
Prologue
Joe’s head was in his hands. He leaned over his desk frustrated. The tiredness showed in his red eyes, and his perfect hair stuck up in static. He had a paper in front of him that was filled with erase marks. It had nothing on it. “I hate this!” He complained, rolling his paper in a ball. He simply tossed it in the trash and lay down on his bed.
He stared at his ceiling and flexed his fingers. “I’ll just fail.” He mumbled before rolling over and drifting off to sleep. The next morning his alarm clock went off. He groaned and kicked the covers off of his tired body. He didn’t get enough sleep that night. He took a quick shower and combed down his dark brown hair. He rubbed his eyes and headed back in his room.
Joe slipped on a simple black v neck shirt and jeans. He pulled on his colorful Nikes and tied the laces. He was focusing on his outfit to make sure he didn’t wear his underwear on top of his jeans or something like that. He pulled his book bag over his shoulders and walked downstairs. He ruffled his hair and grabbed an apple.
Joe grabbed the keys off his counter and headed to school. It was his senior year in a high school in Wyckoff. He pulled into his usual daily parking space, not too far from the school. It was always next to one of his associates, Kevin Parker. He looked around for Kevin’s gray car, but it wasn’t in site. Joe looked at his watch and he wasn’t early. He wondered where he was.
Joe shrugged and walked up to the school. He took one last glance behind him for Kevin, but he wasn’t in site. Joe continued walking inside so he wouldn’t be late. Kevin finally arrived in second period, putting a huge smile of Joe’s face, he just didn’t show it. He lifted his head off the desk because he clearly was falling asleep. Kevin took his seat next to Joe. The bell rang. “Joseph, can I see you for a sec?” Mrs. Carters asked. Joe nodded and walked over to her desk.
“What’s up Mrs. C?”
“Where’s your report? This is the third paper you haven’t turned in. Joseph you won’t be able to graduate if you don’t improve in my class.”
“Mrs. C I was starting to do it, but I-I.”
“No excuses. I talked it over with some people, and…Kevin will tutor you.” Joe’s eyes widened. He looked back at Kevin who’s back was pressed up on the wall, waiting for Joe. Joe gulped.
“K-Kevin?” Great. The guy of his dreams is going to see how much of a failure he is.
