Chapter 2
No way!
There were hundreds, possibly thousands, of small children, teenagers, and parents. The little kids were playing video games on their Nintendo DS, looking as happy as day, some where actually sleeping. Teenagers were painting and drawing signs, listening to their iPods, screaming out Jonas songs, or sleeping in sleeping bags. Parents were busily calling work saying they wouldn’t be there today.
My jaw literally dropped. I turned to dad. He’s jaw was actually dropped too. “Dad?” I asked waving my hand his face. “Hello? Earth to Dad?” He snapped back into reality. “Are they really this popular?” my Dad asked dimly. It was hard to believe for me too. I knew they were WAY popular but I never heard of people waiting at 5:30 AM. Okay, well yea, I did it, but that’s because I’m a TRUE fan. I guess there were A LOT of ‘TRUE’ fans out there besides me.
“I guess” I replied. “Well, let’s get in line shall we?” I nodded. As we were walking towards the end of the line I looked past my shoulder up at the gate. How longing I wanted to be up front, first in line. As we passed person after person after person. I heard a few words of some people’s conversations. “Nick is so cute!” I heard one girl say with long blonde hair. She was wearing a blue tank top with JB printed on the front. I looked at my t-shirt, nothing really Jonas Brothersish about it.
We were halfway through the line when I started to pay attention to signs. Some said ‘I’ve been here since 1:00 AM.’ The girl painting it looked extremely tired as she continued to color, she was humming SOS to herself. I saw some sings with ‘Nick, can I have guitar pick?’ this girl looked very hyped up, then I saw the 3 jugs of Starbucks next to her.
We then reached the end of the line. There was a girl on the ground drawing on a huge white poster board. She had her short red hair up in a ponytail and was chewing gum furiously. Her poster had Jonas on it, I’m guessing she hasn’t finished. I sat down next her, my dad moving away to call work.
“Oh. HI!” she said excitedly. “I’m Abby, Jonas fanatic.” She said happily putting out her hand. I took her hand and said “Chloe, Jonas fanatic also.” “Would you like to help me with my poster? You can make your own if you want” Abby said handing me another white board. I smiled and started to draw.
“So, when did you get here?” I asked drawing a huge heart with ‘JB’ in the middle. “3:00 AM. My mom has been sleeping, she just woke up to call work and get us some waters. Going to be a hot day today.” Abby said drawing guitars around the poster. Hot? I thought. Nah, it couldn’t be it felt like in the 70s.
Abby and I hit it off, telling stories about Jonas Brothers, what are our interests, and a bit about us. I found out that Abby and I have a lot in common. We both LOVE Jonas, we both wear rings, we both love to shop, we both love music and we both love to go to concerts. The only difference was that I was 15 and she was 16.
After chatting, talking, listening, singing, and waiting Abby and I became the best of friends. We switched phone numbers and both promised we would hang out at the concert. 8:00 am came, the gates finally opened. Children, and teenagers pushed and shoved into the gate only to be disappointed about waiting AGAIN for the gates to open for the concert.
Abby and I actually got closer in line. The weather came hotter in the 80s. I asked my Dad to get some waters. After hours, around 11:00 AM, Dad finally came. I chugged down my water wanting more, but then again I would miss the concert.
Fans started to yell more and more as only 15 more minutes they would let the gates open. Abby and I were screaming at the top of lungs as the gates started to open. I pushed and shoved into the crowd with Abby trailing behind, my arm grasped around her wrist. Her Mom and my Dad were way behind, but I didn’t care. They would find us eventually.
After pushing and shoving we were 3rd row surprisingly. I was still screaming that my voice was cracking at times. All the people around me were also screaming as the time came nearer and nearer.
The band members started to come out to start the beat. Abby and I pulled out our signs. Mine saying “We love JB.” Abby’s saying “Jonas Brothers rock my socks.” We were both jumping and screaming.
The heat was starting to get to me. Being so close to people and so tight I started to sweat. My jean shorts and shirt were starting to stick to my skin.
I didn't care though, all that matter was seeing the Jonas Brothers.
We then heard it. “We’re the Kids, we’re the Kids, we’re the Kids of Future.” The concert had begun…
