Inspierd by one of my favourite quotes " A fallen angel~ destined to fly, broken and crazy; but too strong to cry." And also inspierd by the amazing writer Chocolatier
October Rain
There was absolutely nothing perfect about her, yet in my eyes, nothing could be more perfect. It was a rainy, windy, all out awful night in October when I saw her. She sat on a street corner looking absolutely crazy in the most beautiful way possible. She sat with her milky white face tilted up to face the rain, her large brown eyes wide open, only closing when a raindrop hit them. Her wispy blonde hair was plastered to her slim neck, showing she had been sitting there awhile. What was most striking about her was the fact she was clothed in a beautiful white prom dress. The dress cascaded to the ground and flowed outward with a brown sash the color of her eyes tied around her waist. A smile was plastered on her face, as if she enjoyed the harsh wind and rain pelting her. People passing on the street shook their heads and looked away, as if looking at her to long would make their dignity break free from within them and take flight like a startled dove, leaving them broken and crazy, much like the girl in front of me seemed. Suddenly, she ever so carefully looked over at me.
She stood from her street corner and came over to me, her white dress flowed around her as she walked. She looked deep into my eyes with all her soul, “Will you dance with me?” The words tumbled from her lips as if they were unplanned. I was baffled, “There’s no music” I heard myself saying. She just smiled and grabbed my hand, “You’ve never lived until you’ve danced to the rhythm of your own soul.” She gently placed her hand on my shoulder and I placed mine on her waist, my other hand still holding hers. We began to dance in slow, graceful circles. At first I felt awkward and stumbled, but as time wore on, I felt myself slipping farther and farther away, nothing in my mind but a faint beat I knew to be my own. I barely even noticed he fact my clothing was soaked through and I was dancing on a street corner at midnight with a perfect stranger.
Suddenly, she stopped dancing and looked up into my eyes. She began to lean in closer, and I did the same. Our lips met and I was hit by waves of emotions that seemed to be every feeling she had ever experienced in her eighteen years of living. I had never felt like this before, never had a kiss from a complete stranger ever felt just so right. I kept my eyes closed to savor the moment even after she had pulled away. I slowly opened my eyes only to find myself alone on that street corner, no traces of the girl in sight. I touched my lips with the tips of my fingers and could have sworn I heard a faint whisper of “Joe”. It sounded like her voice calling out to me. I spun around, but it was clear she was gone.
I left the corner and continued on back home. I arrived home and collapsed onto my bed after changing, drifting off into a dreamless sleep. When I woke up the next morning, Kevin was sitting next to me. “You got home late and your clothes were soaked, so I dried them for you, but this was in the pocket” He said, handing me a scrap of paper. I looked down and read the writing
"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear ... "
1 John 4:18
Those words mean hardly anything, yet everything at the same time. I smiled and placed the small scrap of paper in my bible, to keep safe. Months passed and we were on tour again, I had forgotten about her. It was a warm day in August when I laid eyes on her again. We were playing in a small town and when I looked out into the crowd, I saw her smiling back at me. Her smile drew caged emotions from within me and I played with a passion I had thought I lost. When the concert was over, I hopped into the crown to look for her. Fans saw my desperate look an stood back from me. I looked everywhere but I could tell she was gone.
Backstage when I told everyone, they said they had seen no such girl in the crowd. Put down, I wandered back onto the stage and sat on the ledge. I heard a noise beside me and noticed my younger brother Nick had taken place beside me. “ When a soul finds peace, a fallen angel regains her wings” He spoke out of the blue and his words shocked me. For someone so young, he was so wise. “You saw her too?” I asked, frantic to know she had actually been there. He gave me a knowing smile before standing up and turning to leave. “When you have a guardian angel, they will stay with you, even if you cannot see them there anymore, even if they returned to heaven.” He called over his shoulder before disappearing behind the stage.
I smiled, knowing Nicholas had been right. That child was the most mature of us all, his intuition surpassing his years. I looked up into the beautiful August skies and smiled as I felt a slight pressure on my lips, a pressure that felt so much like her sweet kiss. I smiled, knowing my guardian angel was up there, watching out for me. For the first time in months, I thought to go look in my bible. When I opened the page where her message was, I was shocked to see yet another paper slip fall out in her girlish handwriting.
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
I gave a smile and looked out the bus window, knowing this was not the last I would see of her. I slipped my new message into one of Nicholas’ shoes so that he too could have a message to cherish. I was going to place my old message on Kevin’s pillow, but the emotional attachment kept me from doing so. Instead I found my own slip of paper and looked upon the page my messages had come from and wrote down the message that I saw onto the sheet of paper before laying it on Kevin’s bed.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.
- Proverbs 3:5,6
I looked upon that page in my bible before bringing the page to my nose and inhaling deeply. The page smelled distinctly of October rain and the promise of meeting again with the same love and timeless passion as before.
Well guys this was my very first one shot ever written. As I said this was inspired by one of my all time favourite quotes and an excellent writer. Also, I would like to point out that the final bible quote is special to me because my godparents gave me a beautiful picture with that passage written beneath my name. Also I would like to point out I mean to upset no one with all the bible quotes. I myself do not believe in god, but I felt it fit the story. This will remain a one shot unless you guys REALLY want me to make this a story. I hope you enjoyed reading. Please comment.
