Hotel California Chapter 1
“That was amazing”, Nick said as he turned to look at his brothers. Joe and Kevin came jogging up and in the tour but after their concert. Nick flopped on the couch and grabbed his cell phone, “I’m calling mom and dad.”
“Good”, Kevin said as he sat next to his younger brother. Joe lay out on the floor and the three of them began to listen to the phone ring. Frankie had gotten sick while they were on tour and they need him to be somewhere solid and warm. Both their mom and dad had left them to make sure their younger brother was okay, but that didn’t bother Kevin, Joe and Nick. They did wish the whole family was together though.
After a while they heard a breathless, “Hello?”
“Hi mommy”, Joe called from the floor, “How are you?”
“Joe, sweetie, I’m good. How was the concert?”
“It was the best”, Kevin yelled, “You should have seen the crowd.”
“Oh I know, your father and I wish we were there with you guys.”
“It’s okay, mommy”, Joe said as he sat up and grabbed the phone from Nick’s hand, “How’s Frankie?”
“He misses you guys so much. Oh wait, here he is.” They heard a little voice say something then a loud, “Hi guys!”
“Frankie”, Nick called as he snatched his phone back from Joe, “you have been taking good care of mom and dad?”
“Of course I have.”
“How you been feeling?”
“I’m much better not. They think that we can join you guys really soon.”
“That’s great we can’t wait to see you guys”, Kevin said as he stretched his legs out. Nick began to talk to Frankie a little bit more as Joe and Kevin started talking about that night, “That was really the best concert ever.”
“I have to admit, it was fun”, Kevin said as he started to close his eyes. Joe was on his feet now and started walking around in circles, “I can’t even stay still. Did you see those girls in the second row? The blond and red head?”
“What about them?” Kevin asked as he opened one eyes to look at his brother. Joe had a huge smile on his face, “They were fine!”
Kevin chuckled and folded his hands on his stomach, “They were okay.”
“Okay? Is that all you can say?”
“What do you want me to say?” Kevin asked as he sat up and looked at Joe. Joe rolled his eyes, “Kevin, come on. You haven’t said anything about a girl looking good since…”
“Since when”, Kevin asked as his anger began to ball up inside of him, “Since Zoey?”
Joe placed his hands in the air in total innocence, “I’m just saying that maybe you should move on. I didn’t mean to make you angry.”
Kevin never took his eyes off his brother, it was hard for him. He was now twenty years old with no girlfriend and it seemed as if Joe and nick were the only ones getting recognized. Kevin didn’t let it bother him though, he knew someone was out there for him.
Nick looked at his phone and sighed, “Out of service.”
“What”, Joe said as he looked at his own phone. Kevin did the same and they all said the same thing, “No service.”
“Well, its kinda empty out where we are now”, Joe said as he looked out the window. They were moving pretty fast down an empty road with not even a light outside to show where they were. Nick rested his head on the back of the couch, “Well at least…”
He stopped when they heard a loud popping noise and the bus started to swerve. Joe fell backwards on his backside and Nick flew forward. Kevin gripped onto the couch as it started to throw the guys violently around. Finally the bus stopped and they all looked at each other, “What happened?”
Their bus driver got out and walked around to the back. The boys heard him moan and kick the tire. They slowly pulled their jackets on and stepped outside to see what happened, “Tires blown!”
Kevin shrugged his shoulders, “We have a spare, don’t we?”
“No.”
Joe looked at him and tilted his head, “We always have a spare.”
“Not to this one we don’t.”
The boys groaned and began to grow angry, “Is there a gas station nearby.”
“I didn’t see a sign or anything back there”, Kevin said as he threw his thumb over his shoulder. Joe shook his head and pulled his jacket in tighter around him, “Great. We’re stuck in the middle of no where and its freezing.”
“I’ll walk back to see if I can find someone or something”, they watched as their driver walked away from them, “you boys walk ahead to see if there is anything. Call my phone if you see something.”
The three boys looked at each other and sighed, “Guess we better start.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I hate the cold weather”, Joe said as he pulled his jacket tighter. They had been walking for a really long time now and had no idea where they were going. Nick looked down at his phone again for the fifth time, “Still no service.”
“There has to be something up ahead”, Kevin said as he shivered from the coldness. They were all thinking the same thing right about now, why did we grab our heavy jackets?
“This is just great. Maybe we should walk back”, Joe said as he stopped in his tracks and looked at his brothers. Nick nodded his head in agreement and Kevin looked around, “Which way is back?”
“Back there”, Joe said as he pointed over his shoulder. He looked back to see two forks in the road and he laughed, “Great! We don’t even know which road we came down!”
“Calm down”, Kevin said as he placed a hand on his brothers shoulder, “I think it’s that way.”
“Are you sure it’s not that way?” Joe asked as he pointed to the farthest from the right. Nick shook his head and pointed to the inner left, “I think we came down that way.”
“Guys we need to think about this. We can’t just go galloping down an empty road…”
“We already did”, Joe interrupted him. The three stood there looking at the four roads in front of them. They had no idea where they were.
“Let’s just keep walking forward”, Kevin said as he turned around and started to walk down the empty road. Joe and nick followed, all three of the boys were freezing by now. They had been walking for only a few minutes when Nick pointed, “What’s that?”
Kevin and Joe looked up and saw a building about four stories high. Kevin looked closer, “It’s a hotel?”
“What would a hotel be doing in the middle of no where?” Joe asked as the three started to run forward. The thought of being in a warm environment made them want to run and get in as soon as possible. They reached the entrance and were greeted by a beautiful red haired, blue eyed girl. She wore a black mini skirt and a white shirt with a pink jacket over it, but neither was long enough to cover her small waist. She was really pretty.
“Welcome”, she said with a big smile on her face, “to Hotel California.”
