After the movie ended I felt like it was probably the right time for me and Nick to disappear. Poor Joseph, everybody could tell he had his "issues." I nudged Nick lightly and he knew what I meant by it.
"Okay, guys! We're out, you know, bed and such," I broke the silence and reached my arms over my head to emphasize my tiredness. Ashley lifted her sleepy head off of Joe's shoulder and nodded to me. I could see a small smile play on her lips as I raised my eyebrow. Oh, she definetly knew why I was leaving and dragging Nick along. She knew I wasn't much of a sleeper, I stayed up later then the normal person, it happens. I blame my parents for never setting much of a bed time.
"Make sure to call Mel, E," Ashley reminded before Nick and I made our way out of the back lounge and into the tiny hallway that held most of the bunks.
"Are you really tired?" Nick asked checking the watch on his hand. I chuckled at his obliviousness.
"Nope, maybe some video games up in the front?" I suggested. Nick looked at me with confusion written on his face.
"But, then wh- OH!" Nick finally caught on as the heat rose in his face, I smiled and grabbed his hand.
"So, about those video games?" I casually added again, trying to remove the slight awkward tension in the hall.
"Maybe a movie instead?" He inquired rubbing a red cheek with his free hand. I nodded. A movie was good, it meant more cuddling for me.
"Let me call Mel, okay? Go set it up, I'll be there in ten," I promised as we finally made our way out of the tiny hallway. I let his hand go moving further down to the front of the bus, we stopped in some deserted parking lot now and I wanted to take my call out in the fresh air. I sighed as I pulled my phone out of the back pocket of my skinny jeans. I scanned through my contact's list and stopped on Melanie's name, it was saved under, "Little Sister."
"Hello?" Mel voice startled me. I didn't even notice that I pushed the little green button indicating I actually called her.
"Melanie?"
"E, who else would it be?" She chuckled. It made me smile hearing my littler sister's voice, it reminded me how much I missed her.
"I misssssss you!" I shouted into the phone instantly looking around the empty parking lot that held one beat up blue car. I heard her laugh again.
"Are you drunk?" She kidded, typical Mel. I was glad she was back to being the sister that I grew up with, always joking and laughing.
"Did you forget who I was on a bus with?" I asked as I sat my self down on the cold concrete. Her laugh tinkled through the speaker again.
"Oh, yeah. What are you guys doing?" She inquired, I could almost hear the longing in her voice.
"Nick and I were about to watch movie, Ashley and Joe are in the back lounge, doing whatever they're doing, and Kevin is sleeping? I think." I wasn't sure exactly what Kevin was doing, I haven't seen him since he left half-way through Just Friends.
"Ashley and Joe alone? Are you sure that's a good idea?"
"Yeah, well I think they've slightly cooled off, I hope. You should have seen them before we started watching Just Friends," I ranted.
"What happened?" Mel exclaimed, I knew she wanted to be here at this moment.
"Well, Kevin comes busting in with me and Nick right behind, the lights are off-" I could hear Mel gasp on the other side.
"Le gasp."
"I know! And, so he flicks on the lights on and Ashley is like pulling her shirt down and Joe mumbles something lame about CPR, it was great, Mel." I finally finished my story. And, as soon as I did, Mel busted out laughing.
"Hey, I have to go. J-Jimmy is here," She said lastly as she regained her breath and voice. As I was about to protest, she quickly hung up on me. I guess I didn't get the "call Kevin" in.
"Ena, it's been like a hour," Nick stated popping his head out of the bus doors. I smiled at him.
"Yeah, you're right, sorry, help me up?" I added pathetically waving my hands around in front of my body. I was still in sitting indian style on the ground. He chuckled stepping off the bus as he reached his hand out to me. I grabbed it gratefully pulling myself into his arms. I felt his arms wrap around me.
"Movie time?" He suggested.
"You know it," I said as I pulled back smiling.
