Re: A Simple Question, Kid [a sequel to Reality Check]

Alright so maybe my parents weren’t so keen with me taking off a semester from school. But, they definitely didn’t have a problem with me taking off work for the summer and going with Ena and the boys. They figured I deserved a little fun after all the work I’ve done. I mean, keeping up with school, work and a rockstar boyfriend is no easy task. Oh, and guess who is transferring to Hawai’i Pacific next year on a full ride cheering scholarship? Thought I was kidding when I said I was working my butt off, didn’t you?

For the first few weeks of the tour, it was just going to be us and the boys. Nice, alone with your hormonally challenged boyfriend? Wrong-o. Whenever Joe and I got a mere second alone, in came Kevin Jonas- moment killer, who made sure we all knew he was keeping an “eye” out.

Joe and I found ourselves alone in the back lounge of the tour bus, lights out, celebrating our seven month anniversary, a little bit too caught up in ourselves. It had been almost a month since we last saw each other and not going to lie, the passionate kissing was great, but the heavy breathing and groping indicated that Joe’s mind was elsewhere.

Just as he started to fuss with the button on my jeans, “Alright I’m just going to grab something from in here!” Kevin yelled as he opened the door and flicked on the light, “Oh hey, guys.”

Joe shot up saying, “And that’s how you give someone CPR.” I rolled my eyes at him as I adjusted my shirt, Kevin wasn’t dumb.

“Umm…” Kevin looked around nervously, “I’m just looking for… this!” he continued, grabbing a small rubber ball. “He’s just uptight because Mel didn’t come.” Joe mumbled as Kevin was about to close the door. He turned back around, “What was that Joseph?” he asked, almost angry. Joe’s eyes grew scared, I don’t think anyone had ever seen Kevin so defensive before.

“Hey, what’s going on back here?” Nick intercepted in the almost-brother fight. Phew, mental note: thank Nick later. “Having a party and didn’t invite us?” he asked as he and Ena pushed past Kevin and sat down next to Joe and myself. I stifled a laugh, some party.

Joe turned on the TV and put in Just Friends as I watched Kevin sit down and pull at his phone. He stared at the screen, looking almost desperate for it to ring. Man, he must really miss Mel. I don’t blame him. Considering, she basically just starting ignoring him back in November. She barely even said two words to him when they picked us up. Mental note #2: call Mel later tonight and find out what is up.

Joe wrapped an arm around me as he sat back down. This kid must have had some plan up his sleeve, he knew this was one of my favorite movies.

“Chriiiis!” he whined with Ana Ferris as he started to tickle me. I let out a scream, “Joe don’t!” Ena cleared her throat, “Uh, Joe, you really might want to stop.” she tried to warn him. Obviously this boy didn’t know how to listen, he just kept tickling me. “Joe really..” Ena tried to warn him again. Slap. “I tried to warn you.” Ena smirked as she rested her head on Nick’s shoulder.

“Oh, baby! I’m so sorry! It’s a horrible reflex..” I rambled off, explaining the several amount of people I have smacked due to excessive tickling. He smiled as I rubbed his now, bright-red cheek. “It’s okay, but ow. Girl, you got a mean back hand.” he joked, causing everyone to break out in laughter, even Kevin! Well, at least we knew he wasn’t completely shattered on the inside.

Oh, what the two months ahead are going to hold.

=========

sorry for the raciness at the beginning :]

Re: A Simple Question, Kid [a sequel to Reality Check]

After the movie ended I felt like it was probably the right time for me and Nick to disappear. Poor Joseph, everybody could tell he had his "issues." I nudged Nick lightly and he knew what I meant by it.

"Okay, guys! We're out, you know, bed and such," I broke the silence and reached my arms over my head to emphasize my tiredness. Ashley lifted her sleepy head off of Joe's shoulder and nodded to me. I could see a small smile play on her lips as I raised my eyebrow. Oh, she definetly knew why I was leaving and dragging Nick along. She knew I wasn't much of a sleeper, I stayed up later then the normal person, it happens. I blame my parents for never setting much of a bed time.

"Make sure to call Mel, E," Ashley reminded before Nick and I made our way out of the back lounge and into the tiny hallway that held most of the bunks.

"Are you really tired?" Nick asked checking the watch on his hand. I chuckled at his obliviousness.

"Nope, maybe some video games up in the front?" I suggested. Nick looked at me with confusion written on his face.

"But, then wh- OH!" Nick finally caught on as the heat rose in his face, I smiled and grabbed his hand.

"So, about those video games?" I casually added again, trying to remove the slight awkward tension in the hall.

"Maybe a movie instead?" He inquired rubbing a red cheek with his free hand. I nodded. A movie was good, it meant more cuddling for me.

"Let me call Mel, okay? Go set it up, I'll be there in ten," I promised as we finally made our way out of the tiny hallway. I let his hand go moving further down to the front of the bus, we stopped in some deserted parking lot now and I wanted to take my call out in the fresh air. I sighed as I pulled my phone out of the back pocket of my skinny jeans. I scanned through my contact's list and stopped on Melanie's name, it was saved under, "Little Sister."

"Hello?" Mel voice startled me. I didn't even notice that I pushed the little green button indicating I actually called her.

"Melanie?"

"E, who else would it be?" She chuckled. It made me smile hearing my littler sister's voice, it reminded me how much I missed her.

"I misssssss you!" I shouted into the phone instantly looking around the empty parking lot that held one beat up blue car. I heard her laugh again.

"Are you drunk?" She kidded, typical Mel. I was glad she was back to being the sister that I grew up with, always joking and laughing.

"Did you forget who I was on a bus with?" I asked as I sat my self down on the cold concrete. Her laugh tinkled through the speaker again.

"Oh, yeah. What are you guys doing?" She inquired, I could almost hear the longing in her voice.

"Nick and I were about to watch movie, Ashley and Joe are in the back lounge, doing whatever they're doing, and Kevin is sleeping? I think." I wasn't sure exactly what Kevin was doing, I haven't seen him since he left half-way through Just Friends.

"Ashley and Joe alone? Are you sure that's a good idea?"

"Yeah, well I think they've slightly cooled off, I hope. You should have seen them before we started watching Just Friends," I ranted.

"What happened?" Mel exclaimed, I knew she wanted to be here at this moment.

"Well, Kevin comes busting in with me and Nick right behind, the lights are off-" I could hear Mel gasp on the other side.

"Le gasp."

"I know! And, so he flicks on the lights on and Ashley is like pulling her shirt down and Joe mumbles something lame about CPR, it was great, Mel." I finally finished my story. And, as soon as I did, Mel busted out laughing.

"Hey, I have to go. J-Jimmy is here," She said lastly as she regained her breath and voice. As I was about to protest, she quickly hung up on me. I guess I didn't get the "call Kevin" in.

"Ena, it's been like a hour," Nick stated popping his head out of the bus doors. I smiled at him.

"Yeah, you're right, sorry, help me up?" I added pathetically waving my hands around in front of my body. I was still in sitting indian style on the ground. He chuckled stepping off the bus as he reached his hand out to me. I grabbed it gratefully pulling myself into his arms. I felt his arms wrap around me.

"Movie time?" He suggested.

"You know it," I said as I pulled back smiling.
