"No way, you go!" I quickly retorted giving Nick a small shove towards the dark back lounge. He looked at me with wide eyes and shook the mop of curly hair that he had on his head.
"There is no way I'm going back there by myself," he protested. We had just returned from our little 'date', if you could even call it that. And, before we left we were pretty sure Joe and Ashley were left on the bus, alone. Kevin was out...somewhere?
"Just go get the movie, Nick," I added once more throwing the small opening to the back room a glance. It was pitch black, there was no hope in seeing what was there, or what was happening.
"You go," Nick wouldn't give in. I shook my head at him, I really didn't need to see something I especially didn't want to.
"I mean, there are no..," I paused trying to think of the right selection of words, "noises, right?" Nick shot me a fleeting look after I muttered the last part of my sentence. And, as if on cue, Ashley and Joe casually strolled in through the doors of the bus.
"Why are you looking at us like that?" Ashley questioned with pure confusion plastered on her face. Joe was standing right next to her, smiling at us, it was slightly freaking me out. I turned to Nick who's head was now down, great, way to make us look creepy.
"Okay, then, we'll just be in the ba-"
"No, you won't! We're gonna be back there," Nick shouted out of nowhere, startling the three of us.
"Oh?" Joe smirked. Thanks Nick, way to make us look even creepier then we looked before. I felt the red heat appear on my face as I looked at Nick, who's head was back down again.
"Yeah, what Nick meant is that you two spend enough time back there and besides we want to watch a movie," I recovered. Ashley shrugged and took the small red bag that she had in her hand and placed it on the small coffee-like table.
"It's cool, we'll hang out here until you guys are done with your movie," she stated plopping herself down on the comfortable couches that were in the front. I gave Ashley a tiny smile, meant for her eyes only and pulled on Nick's hand to tell him it was okay to look up now.
"Try not to shout random things without thinking them through next time," I joked when we were out of ear shot and safely in the dark back lounge.
"Sorry, I tend to embarass myself, I guess?" Nick responded. I let out a chuckle as I resently patted the wall trying to find the light-switch.
"Where's the light-switch?" I asked.
"It should be right here," Nick responded lightly brushing my wandering hand as he flipped up the switch. The room swelled instantly with light revealing how close we actually were. My mind began to race and my heart pounded, as they always did when Nick stood within a foot of me. His eyebrows furrowed as he brought his hand and grazed it over my cheek gently.
"So, we've decided to- oops!" Nick quickly pulled the hand away as we both turned to look at a flustered Joe.
"Joseph, I told you not to come back here!" I heard Ashley's voice first before I even saw her pop through the opening. She smiled meekly as she saw the awkward position Nick and I were in. Nick's face flushed with color again as he took a hesitant step back releasing me from the wall I was resting on.
"Sorry guys! We'll just leave you to your movie," Ashley apologized trying to grab Joe's shoulder. But, he was to quick for her, he already sat himself down on the long couch.
"I seriously think we should watch this movie with them, to make sure, you know, that it's an appropriate movie, you know."
"Joe, we're watching How a Grinch Stole Christmas," Nick responded, I could tell he was getting annoyed. I reached down and straightend my clothes still not getting over the strange situation.
"That could be a very mean movie!"
"Joe, leave?"
"No, Nick, it's fine, they can watch it with us," I finally added getting as far away from the wall as possible. Joe smiled up at me triumphantly, patting the spot next to him. I shook my head, but he pulled my arms down, making me take the spot. I saw Nick roll his eyes as Joe pulled him down to his other side.
"This is a good seating arrangement, no?" Joe smirked crossing his arms in front of his chest. I watched Ashley fumble with the remote finally dimming the room and letting the movie play.
"Wouldn't you rather sit somewhere else?" I asked, Joe smiled.
"Nope, this is just perfect, you know, this movie could get innapropriate."
