Chapter 1
“Dude, where’s my milk?” I asked as I looked into the mini fridge. Even though we were on a bus going 50 mph, I still was craving Oreos and milk.
Joe busted out laughing.
I turned to him and lowered my voice. “Do you think this is funny?” I asked him.
“What is it with you and milk!?” Joe asked.
“Uh, hello, milk rocks!” Nick interrupted.
“Thank you!” I said.
“Don’t worry,” Nick said, “We are almost to the hotel, and we can go get some groceries once we get checked in,”
“Yeah, we have an hour before we have to leave for sound check” Kevin said as he strummed his guitar. I recognized a couple of cords from “Still in Love with You” and started singing along.
“You left without a single word, not even sorry. It might of hurt worse to hear you say, I'm leaving, goodbye. But your smile still makes my heart sing, another sad song. Can't forget it, won't regret it. Cause I'm still in love with you” I sang along.
Nick and Joe gave a little applause.
“Haley, why don’t you come on stage with us and we can sing a duet,” Kevin said.
But before I had a second to answer I was flying through the air. The bus driver had slammed on the breaks and caused all of us to get shaken up. Everything kind of happened in slow motion. From the moment I felt myself loose balance; I knew that this was going to be painful.
My body flew back into the bunk area. I hit my head on a pole, and everything went black, but just for a milla second.
I heard the bus driver curse, a lot.
Nick was the first one to come over to me, then Kevin. Joe appeared last, pushing his brothers out of the way.
“Haley?” Joe asked.
“What the hell happened?” I asked as I touched my head with my hand.
“I’m going to go find out,” Kevin said as we got up and walked to the front of the bus.
“Uh, Haley…” Nick said pointing to my hand that I had just pulled away from my head. It was covered in blood.
