Merry Christmas to my Family. I love you all.
Especially Em; my muse, my best friend.
What do you want for Christmas? Such a simple question that opens doors for a complex answer. What I want for Christmas I once thought unattainable; something that no one could ever grasp. That is of course, until I met you. You showed me the light out of the darkness that I was slowly falling into. You took my hand and lead me through the bad times. Helped me understand what it felt like to be…dare I say it…in love.
"Emily?" You asked me quietly. You're the only one I let call me that. I don't know why when the name falls from your perfect lips I feel like I'm holding the whole world in the palm of my hands. Imagine how I feel when you kiss me. Words can not describe it. "What do you want for Christmas?"
"Nothing." I whispered honestly. The confused look on your face made me giggle. I leaned up carefully and kissed your full lips softly. "I have everything I could possibly ask for." You smiled down at me. Your smile; one of my many reasons for loving you. A beacon in my bad days.
"Are you sure?" You asked c.ocking an eyebrow. I smiled and nodded. "Same for me." You leaned down and kissed me in a way that you didn’t even have to tell me you loved me.
"I love you Joe."
"I love you more." You smirked, your grip tightening on my waist. I kissed you both of us still smiling.
"Doubt it." I whispered against your lips.
Years later, we sit on the same old couch in our same old apartment. The colorful lights from the Christmas tree and your brilliant smile were the only thing illuminating the room. You leaned down close to my ear and whispered:
"What do you want for Christmas?" What do I want for Christmas? A true love that's hard to find but lasts a lifetime. And guess what; I found it.
