Chapter Two -
Nick was lying on top of me on the ground and we were both laughing hysterically. He finally rolled off of me and I jumped up to my feet, only to be knocked down again.
"Nice to see you too Joe." I said once again on the ground laughing, this time with Joe next to me.
"Zoey, I missed you!" He said hugging me, then helping me up. I quickly turned around and squeezed Nick in a hug until he complained that he could no longer breath, but I just told him too bad and held on for a few more seconds. Someone tapped me on the shoulder a few seconds later and said "What, no hello for me?" I turned to see Kevin.
"Kevin! I missed you!" I squealed, practically knocking him over with a hug.
"I missed you too kid." He said through his laughter.
"Gosh, it feels like I haven't seen you guys in forever, but it's only been like 3 weeks." I exclaimed.
"Yea I know, all we ever hear from Nick is 'I miss Zoey, how long till I can see her again.' or 'I wonder what Zoey's doing right now, I'll call her.'" Joe teased
"Shut up! I did not! Well, even if I did, she's my best friend and I'm aloud to miss her." He said, becoming a bit less embarrassed.
"Awwhh, I missed you too Nick!" I said playfully shoving him.
Well, before I get too far ahead of myself, I think it would be best if you actually knew who I was. Hi, I'm Zoey Adams and if you haven't figured it out by now, yes the Nick, Joe, and Kevin I'm referring to in the story are the Jonas Brothers; as in the Jonas Brothers the band. Nick and I have been best friends since, well, forever! I grew up across the street from them in New Jersey and Nick and I "never left the other's side - or - were attached at the hip" as our parents describe it. When I was 11 we had to move to Pennsylvania for my dads job, but it was only about an hour and a half away, not alot changed; we just weren't always together anymore. I've gone through all of their music moments with them, from Nick's solo album to know. So basically I go to all the concerts close to me and I'll even go with the guys on their bus for a few days when they're close. It sucks when I don't get to see them for awhile, but that doesn't happen too often, because Nick and I have basically made it a law that they stop by - even if it's just for an hour - if they pass Pennsylvania; even if it is three hours out of the way for them sometimes. We're constantly texting or on the phone, because really, he's my other half. He claims to know more about me than I do, and I wouldn't doubt it. I never think of him as a famous person; he's just Nick - my dorky best friend and that will never change.
You know those friendship necklaces you got when you were little? The one's where half said best and the other half said friends and together they completed something? Well that's our friendship, he's my other half and without him, I'm only half of what I could be. Speaking of necklaces, for my 8th birthday, Nick (with the help of his mom) gave me a small, silver heart on a silver chain - inscribed on one side was "best friends, always and forever" and on the other it simply said "Nick and Zoey." But enough of my rambling, let's get back to the bigger picture - my story:
"Hey, I can't believe you guys came all the way to get me and didn't even bring my favorite Jonas!" I said jokingly.
"Frankie? What? I thought I was your favorite!" Joe exclaimed.
"Hah, yea right Joe, I am." Nick said confidently.
"Whatever I thought you didn't have a favorite? Even if she does, you both know it's me." Kevin added. After a few seconds and some quick glances to each other, they all finally spoke up again.
"So, who's your favorite?" The 3 of them said at once. By then we had walked out of the airport and were walking down the sidewalk to Kevin's car.
"Ughh...well..." I paused, I love all three of them equally, so I don't really have a favorite, but it's fun to mess with them. "Wow, look at that thing...with the shinyness...and yea..." I trailed off as they looked to their left to see what I was referring too.
"Umm, you mean the streetlight?" Nick asked confused.
"...Sure...So anywho, what are we doing tomorrow?" It was already 9:43, so I knew we'd just be going home tonight.
"Well...it's a SURPRISE! And I'm not aloud to tell you that it's a- Ohh crap!" Joe stopped mid sentence after realizing something.
"JOE!" Kevin and Nick screamed in unison and gave him evil glares.
"A surprise? What is it? Somebody tell me, please!" I whined.
"Thanks a lot Joe," Kevin started "You weren't supposed to find out, we knew if we told you it was a surprise, you'd manage to get Nick to tell you everything, because apparently, you two can't refrain from keeping a secret from the other."
"Yep, that is true. We just tell each other everything, right Zoe?" Nick asked.
"Of course. You're like my own personal diary, there's nothing you don't know." I lied. Ok so there is one thing he doesn't know about, but only my parents, a few family members, and Nick's parents know, and they're all sworn to secrecy. I really did tell him everything else, but I promised myself I'd prevent telling him this one thing as long as possible, and I plan to keep that promise...
