CHAPTER 1- Great America and Jonas Brothers-Nice Mix.
I looked down at my magazine that I bought on the way over here.
Seventeen. It's one of my favorites.
What's up? I'm Stephanie Paygel. I'm a singer, signed with Columbia Records. I just turned 17 on July 12.
My best friends are the Joe, Nick, Kevin, and Frankie Jonas, Joanna Levesque (who you probably know better as Jojo), Hayden Panettiere, and Cody Linley.
I'm also pretty good friends with Mandy, of the Jonas Brothers' song, Mandy.
I've been touring with the Jonas Brothers for a month now and we finish in September. I open for them with five songs, then they go on and wrap up the show.
Being on a bus with 4 guys (remember Frankie!), and our parents is...challenging.
Makes you think twice about your career. But it's one of the coolest feelings in the world to be on stage singing in front of a huge crowd of fans.
"You STILL caught up in that magazine?" Joe asked, leaning over my shoulder to read the column I was reading. "Haha," he laughed. "Cody Linley has a 'thing' for Steph!"
"Oh, shut-up," I giggled, pushing Joe back onto his side of the couch.
"Ouch!" he yelped as he grasped his shoulder and made a mock-pain face.
"Haha, you're so funny," I stated with the most serious expression that I could possibly hold.
"I know," Joe replied simply.
"SHUT-UP!" I heard Nick yell from the back of the bus.
He had hardly slept at all in the past two nights. He's had this weird case of insomnia lately. He's been trying to catch up during the day.
"Sorry, Nick!" I shouted back. "Now leave me to my magazine," I whispered to Joe, sticking my tongue out at him.
"Hey, you guys are going to Six Flags today. Looks like you'll get there a little early, though," Denise, the Jonas Brothers's mom, informed us as she looked at the laptop in front of her.
"Aw, sweet! Can we ride rides when we get there then?" Frankie asked all jumpy.
"I don't care if you do. Steph, Joe, Kevin, and Nick will have to see if they have time," she said looking me, Kevin, and Joe over.
Kevin was caught up in a TV show and wasn't paying any attention to what she was saying.
"Aww, mom, come on! You have to let us go on rides! No teenagers can go to Great America and not go on rides!" Joe complained.
I kicked him gently and laughed. "You're such a whiner!"
"Shut-up. You know you want to go on some, too," he smiled. "Man, we're so going on that one huge green ride. What was it called?" Joe asked me.
"Deja Vu. It looks creepy. And they shut it down like, every time I'm there. I'm not going on it. No," I said to Joe. I was the most daring of the group after Joe, so I knew that I was the one he was counting on to go on it with him.
"Ohhh, someone's scared..." he laughed.
"You're very right. I am terrified of that ride. Not even kidding," I said, serious. "Anyway, Joe, would you describe your bedroom as: a) It looks like a tornado hit it, b) It's messy, but I can find stuff...sometimes, c) Cluttered, or d) Spotless?" I asked quizzing him.
"Absolutely not. Your little quizzes tell me way too much about myself. It's scary," he said, beginning to chatter his jaw as if he was scared.
"Fine. I thought you might be bored," I muttered, trying to keep my voice low so Nick could sleep.
"I am, but not that bad."
"TWENTY MORE MINUTES!" Josh yelled from up front.
I heard Nick snore. Great. Now that he finally got to sleep he was going to have to get up.
"Steph, it's totally your turn," Kevin said, glancing away from the T.V. momentarily to tell me to wake up his brother.
"I know..." I droned walking into the bunk room and leaning over Nick's bunk.
I started to shake him awake. "Nick, we're gonna be there in twenty minutes," I whispered to him.
"Ughhhh, no way!" he grumbled.
"Sorry."
Twenty minutes later we all got off the bus and stretched out. 16 hours on a bus isn't exactly a comfortable ride.
"Steph, come on! You HAVE to go on Deja Vu with me! No one else is going to and you know it!" Joe whined to me.
"Fine, anything to move. Mom! Me and Joe are gonna go ride Deja Vu really quick, okay?" I shouted.
"YES!" Joe cheered himself.
"I guess so, but Joe has to be on for sound check in three hours!" she yelled back after saying something to Denise.
"Okay, so we can go on other ride too, then," I said to Joe. "Anyone else coming?" I asked.
"Which one is Deja Vu?" Frankie asked.
I knelt down beside him and pointed. "That big green one right over there," I said, accenting the big.
"No way!" Frankie yelled.
"I'm gonna try to get some more sleep," Nick said.
"I'm gonna go finish watching this movie," Kevin said. "Then I might come find you guys. Take your cell phone, Joe."
"'Kay. Come on, Steph, I wanna ride it!" Joe smiled.
"Ughhh-Ok, let's go, already!" I laughed as Joe grabbed my hand, snatched our V.I.P. passes out of Denise's hand and began dashing toward Deja Vu.
This was going to be fun...
