Chapter 2
“Wow”, Joe thought. “I never realized it but...man is Tea hot?! I’d never tell her though. Our friendship is way to valuable and I think she was a little uncomfortable when we ended talking. I really shouldn’t have checked her out so openly. But she has such a great bod… and she’s so nice. She’s not like any of those other girls I’ve dated. I think we really should have tried… but I was always dating and she… I dunno… She always seemed okay with it. But I remember that day when I broke up with my 7th girlfriend…. I knew I needed her...
“Fine, we are over.”
“But why, Joey??”
“Because, I’m so tired of your stuff… he’s just a friend.. I have to baby-sit. Its complete bull.”
She picked up her hand and slapped his face leaving a hand print and nail marks.
He felt his face, and watched her walk away, swaying her hips.
“Good for nothing, chick”.
Joe trudged along through the thick snow cursing to him self when he ran into a Starbucks.
“One Pumpkin Latte. Venti sized and extra shots of Pumpkin.” He ordered.
“Ruff day, huh dude?” The coffee maker said.
“Heck, yes.” He said. “Just broke up with my girlfriend.”
Wow. I’m talking to a coffee maker up my life? I am desperate.
“Dude, I know just how you feel.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah, my girl and I split up a few months ago, but her name hits me like home, y’know?”
“Hmm” Joe grunted. “My chick cheated on me.”
“Oh. Sorry man.” The guy said putting shots in his coffee. “Ill put some extra whip cream on yours.”
“Thanks, dude.” He took the drink and a coffee cooler on the cup.
“Yeah, well try and keep your mind off her and it will work wonders.” The guy said to him.
“Thanks again.” Joe pulled out his MasterCard when the guy stopped him.
“Don’t worry man, its on the house, just don’t go spreading it around or a bunch of guys will coming saying they broke up with their chick, you get me?”
“Ha, yeah man.” He smiled.
“See you around”.
“Back at cha!”
Joe walked out sipping his latte when he say an empty bench and walked over to it sitting down. He pulled out his ibook and tried to check on msn.
“Wow, it worked? I guess the wi-fi from Starbucks must still be working.”
He opened up his account when a bunch of offline instant messages came up.
He read through all of them and exited out of some and saving some.
He then checked to see who was on and saw Tea.
Tea, he thought. I haven’t talked to her since Amy came in the picture... We should hang some time, I miss her smile.
Joe opened the convo to see that it showed her being away.
“Away?” he said in disbelief. “That barely ever happens.”
He ignored it and started talking to bunch of his friends telling him that there was an open spot on this battle of the bands thing at the black room and that he should come in and audition.
“No way man. 2 bzy. MeNMi gurl r finitos” he typed in.
“Doode, u did the dumpn, rite?” one asked.
“Yup, she was a lyer.” Joe responded.
“Srry 2 here tht man.” The one responded back
“Yea” another said. “But, there will b no otha gigs lik dis 1”.
“There will be managers and record label guys” the third said.
“I’ll think about it, guys” Joe finished.
He said bye and shut down his ibook.
Joe scooped out the whipped cream from the bottom with two fingers and ate it.He felt more re-energized so he took a walk through the park looking at the kids playing around, skating, throwing snowballs and laughing.
“I wish everyone was like snow kids, how happy the world would be.” He said out loud.
“Wow that’s a good lyric, remember that.” A voice said.
“Hi Dante Smith, CEO and President of LaLa land Records and I have seen your band play, I think there amazing!”
“Thanks man” Joe said smiling the first real smile since Amy.
“Here’s my card” Dante said. “Call me after your done talking to your parents and get them to call me. They probably wanna know the clean facts, kid.”
“Yeah, man thanks. This is unbelievable, you have totally made my day.”
“Glad to know that, kid.” He said. “See you.”
“Yeah, can’t wait!”
Joe walked with a bouncier step, He may have broken up with his girlfriend, but the day had turned out better. A free Venti and an offer from a record label, sweet!
Joe slowly opened the door to his house to surprise his family when he remembered only Kevin was home studying. He slipped in quietly not to disturb him and ran up the stairs.
That was when his voice was caught in his throat.
Through the crack of his brother’s door he saw Tea hanging with him.
“Come on, Kevin I’m bored” she said throwing his Physics book to the ground.
“Well I don’t know what to do Tea just wait for Joe...” He replied.
She ran over to the book and hid it behind her back.
“Well, we can do something now, you’re not studying.”
“Haha, very funny know gimme the book back!” he said.
Tea backed up against the wall.
“What? A book where?” she laughed.
“Not funny” Kevin said cracking a smile.
They stood there for a bit quiet when Tea dropped the book and threw her arms around Kevin’s neck pulling him into a fast hot kiss that they both enjoyed.
Kevin broke it threw Tea on the bed. Starting to make out with her. He broke it and got up.
“Good.” He smiled. “I can study again.”
Tea sat up and laughed. “Well, Kev. I’m not bored anymore.” She said playing with his hair.
“We should do that again.” He said sitting back down on the bed.
“Well. You have Physics to study.” She said slyly.
He smirked. “Funny.”
Joe ran downstairs quietly when he saw Tea walking toward the door.
“Hello Joseph!” she said in a happy voice seeing him at the bottom of the stairs.
Listen to me, Joe. He thought to himself. Pretend like nothing happened.
You didn’t see any of that. Tea didn’t kiss him and Kevin didn’t throw himself on her.
Nope, Nope, Nope. Nothing.
“Hey Tea!” he said happily hugging her.
“What’s up?” she said to him awkwardly.
“Nothing” he replied with her same tone. “You?”
“Oh nothing.”
A silence filled the two.
Kevin poked his head out.
“When did you get home, Joe?”
“Just now, Kev.”
“Cool, Cool.”
“Well...I’m studying.”
“Kay, I’m gonna go to bed, I’m really tired.”
“So I guess, I’ll just go home.” Tea said awkwardly. “See you Kev, bye Joseph” and she ran down the stairs.
Kevin closed the door and Joe went to his room.
…. That was a crappy starting and a crappy ending to the day. I remember I didn’t even come out for dinner. Ehh. I can still feel the hunger.”
A bunch of girls walked by Joe, winking at him and giggling and he didn’t even notice them.
“Oh man,” he said. “Don’t tell me its gonna be like this again.”
