--Chapter One--
"You'll always be my thunder, so bring on the rain." -Boys Like Girls
She was barefoot and her dress was soaking wet as she silently sat on a bench and wept. But her tears were unoticable, courtesy of the rain. She was torn apart, torn into peices, and it was all because of a boy. It was always because of a boy. He broke her camera, but most importantly he broke her heart. Either way, she was now empty. The pictures she had taken at the park were now dust, along with the happiness that once filled her innocent heart. She fiddled with her purity ring as she tried to erase what had happened.
As she continued wallowing in her self pitty, she heard loud laughter and quick footsteps nearby.
"Oh wow Kevin, your full of mud." someone laughed.
She looked over to see a teenage boy pointing at another older guy who was covered in mud. Next to him was ANOTHER boy trying not to laugh. Yea, he failed miserably.
As she turned back around to continue pitying herself, a voice called out to her.
"Hey..." the voice trailed off as a familiar boy stood in front of her.
She looked up at him intently and confused.
"Im Joe, whats your name?" he asked.
"Haley" she replied, looking back down and still fidgeting with her purity ring. After five seconds of akward silence, he decided to speak up again.
"Its, nice seeing you again..Haley. By the way, Im still sorry for knocking you down at the park." after making his statement, he turned around and walked away.
Besides being dumbfounded, she became thoughtful, and searched her mind for recent encounters the past week. Sure enough, their lie the slight memory of bumping into someone at the park, a boy just like the one that had just walked away from her. Well..she thought he did.
"Hey Haley?" She looked up to see Joe standing a few feet in front of her.
"Want a ride home?" he asked.
Now usually she would deny this wonderful offer since she knew she shouldnt get in a car with strangers, but seing as the day wasnt getting any better, with the weather that is, she couldnt quite refuse. Her house wasnt exactly within walking distance.
"Um sure, but let me tell you, I pretty much live in the middle of no where."
He smiled at that. "Im pretty sure no where is easy to find. Now come on, my brother can drop you off."
Haley followed close behind as he led her to a car, actually, the ONLY car parked in the side of the street. Out of the drivers side came yet another boy, only this one with a..scarf? Sure, lets call it that. She hid begind Joe as the boy got closer.
"Hi Im Kevin, Joe's older brother, and that kid on the passenger side is Nick, our younger bro." She looked at all three and could see a resemblance.
"Yea well nice introduction Kevin, this is Haley and she needs a ride home. We dont want her to get sick." Joe said pointing at Haley.
"Right, well just tell me where you live and hop in." replied Kevin with a crooked smile.
Once she was done giving Kevin a descrpitive explanation of where she lived, she hopped in the back seat of his car..with Joe.
Haley stared out the window of the car as they passed several houses, which soon enough turned into trees.
Minutes later, the car had stopped.
"Are we here already?" Haley asked.
"Um no, we ran out of gas." answered the boy in the passengers seat..Nick was it?
"Oh, thats ok I'll just walk. Its not that far."
"No, its pouring outside, you'll get sick." Joe said
"Dude, if she wants to go just let her." Nick retorted.
"No!" Joe yelled.
"Joe just let her do what..."
"GUYS!" Kevin interrupted.
"What?!" both Nick and Joe asked simultaneously.
Kevin pointed at the empty seat next to Joe. Haley had left.
