Chapter 10

When Kevin left it was like time stopped and I was frozen in my place. I wanted to run after him and tell him that the timing wasn’t right to break up with Shane, but my feet wouldn’t move. I’m mad at myself for not forcing myself to break things off with Shane, no I can’t be mad at that remember the last time, I’m also mad at myself for not making Kevin listen to me and letting me explain. I was so upset and mad when I went to bed I had a restless night and only got maybe four hours of sleep. I was unable to get the look on Kevin’s face when he realized that I didn’t break things off with Shane out of my mind and also what Pete’s family is going through. I got up this morning feeling like crap, so tried I’m having a hard time focusing and because I went to bed upset causing my nerves to be a wreck my stomach is in knots. When I walked into the kitchen to find Tori eating her breakfast I passed not really feeling up to anything heavy to eat, I sat down and told her what happened. Of course I got a lecture about how yeah it was right well sort of right not to break up with Shane and how I should have made Kevin listen to why I didn’t. Tori left for work leaving me alone, not really feeling up to working I called in sick and made myself some potato hash. After I ate I showered changed into a pair of comfy sweat pants (Click here to see sweat pants) and tank top (Click here to see tank top), pulled my hair up into a messy bun and sat down and watched some TV then decided to make myself lunch around one, a bowl of soup made with Chicken broth and noodles. After I ate I decided to bake some cookies, yes when I’m depressed or mad I like to cook or bake, I placed in my favorite Bon Jovi CD ‘These Days’ into the CD player and went into the kitchen. I just placed my first sheet of cookie dough into the oven when there was a knock at the door. I swear if this is some neighbor complaining about the music I’m going to blow a gasket, turing off the music I went and opened the door. I am faced with someone holding a huge bouquet of White Daises (Click here to see Daises). I don’t need to see the face of the person holding the flowers to know its Kevin, there was movement and Kevin’s face peeked out from the side of the flowers, even though I knew it was him I am still shocked.
“Kevin what.”
He cut me off.
“I’m sorry I ran off last night.”
I moved aside to let him into the apartment, I shut the door behind me and turned around to see Kevin just place the flowers on the coffee table. He walked over to stand in front of me with his hands in his pockets looking uncertain.
“I was up all night thinking about you about us, the things we’ve done together in last couple days and I realized that I couldn’t just walk away from you from us well if there was ever an us. I’m so sorry Camryn, I really am truly sorry.”
I wiped the few tears from my eyes and shook my head.
“You have nothing to be sorry for, you acted like anyone else would have acted. There’s something’s you have to know.”
I took Kevin’s hand and walked us over to the sofa where we sat down.
“I had every intention of breaking up with Shane last night but when he called he told me that his friend and college Pete was in a car accident last night there in Dallas and that the doctors didn’t expect him to make it through the night.”
“Oh my gosh Camryn I. How is he?”
“I don’t know I haven’t talked to Shane since, I called earlier and left a message.”
“No wonder you didn’t break up with him the timing was all wrong. Camryn I’m so sorry for how I acted and not letting you explain.”
“It’s okay but there’s something else. Some women would have broken up with him anyway if they really wanted to be with you. I do I really want to be with you Kevin.”
“I feel there’s a but coming.”
I sighed.
“We were together a year when I realized that our relationship wasn’t going anywhere, the morning of the day I was going to break up with Shane he got the news that his Cousin who he was very close with was murdered the night before. I put it on hold waited a few months to tell him that I didn’t want to see him anymore, one night I told him we had to talk. It was like he read my mind and cause he went crazy yelling that I couldn’t break up with him and yelling why does everyone he loves leave him. His Mom left him and his Dad when he was eleven and his Dad died when he was sixteen. He was really upset and brought up Rob his Cousin that was killed; he said that he still needed me that if I left him he wouldn’t be able to handle it at that moment. I couldn’t tell him why I wanted to break it off with him so I just kept telling him that we just weren’t working out for me. That set him off even more he ran into his kitchen and got a knife he said that if I broke up with him, he kill himself. I couldn’t let that happen so I stayed with him.”
Kevin didn’t say anything.
“Kevin I thought last night that if I would have broken up with him.”
“That he would have killed himself.”
I nodded my head.
“Camryn.”
Kevin bought me into his arms.
“You did the right thing.”
Kevin said.
“I’ve been doubting if I did since you left last night, Kevin I want to be with you more then anything but I can’t break up with Shane till I make sure he won’t do anything to himself.”
I felt Kevin nod and he pulled me away from him.
“What will happen with us till then?”
“Well till Shane comes back from Dallas we can continue as we are now but when he comes back hopefully then I can end things with him and be with you.”
Kevin tucked my hair behind my ear.
“And if not.”
“I haven’t really thought about that yet.”
Kevin nodded leaned down and kissed me, when we pulled away he smiled making me smile.
“I can live with that and we’ll deal with that when the time comes.”
I smiled and kissed him; we continued a heavy make out session when it hit me. I pulled away and asked,
“How did you get into the building?”
Kevin laughed.
“Tori meant me here and let me in.”
“How much of a lecture did she give you?”
“I big one hit me on my arm a few times.”
I laughed again classic Tori.
“I can stay the afternoon thought me could watch TV or something. Maybe we could go out to dinner tonight.”
Crap what do I say? Can’t tell him the truth make up something, got it.
“Oh um tonight isn’t a good night. Tori and I get together with a couple of our friends and we have girl’s night. We do it two nights a week Tuesday and Thursday’s.”
There you go great another lie.
“Oh okay tomorrow night then.”
“Defiantly.”
We kissed then settled into watching a movie, at four-o’clock Kevin left and I went to get ready. Dressing into my outfit (Click here to see outfit) and grabbing what I needed I left to go to the restaurant. Once I showed up I went down to the basement and found Tori, Mackenzie, Hazel and our backup band Adam, Jeff and Steven. I got up on stage and Tori walked over smiling at me.
“Well someone looks betters then she did this morning. I take it you and Kevin are.”
“Until Shane gets back from Dallas yes.”
“What happens after that?”
“We’ll get to that when it comes.”
Tori nodded and walked away and hour and half later we stood on stage behind the curtain saying our before show prayer. While we waited for the manger to introduce us all I kept thinking about was how I lied to Kevin.
“Ladies and Gentlemen Pure Harmony.”
We took our places, Tori to her mic stand with her guitar, Mackenzie doing the same, Adam to his drums, Jeff to his bass, Steven to the keyboards and me going to my mic stand. The opening notes of the first song started to play while the curtain started to rise up. I started to sing and all thoughts of lying to Kevin were lost as I did the one thing I love to do most.

Chapter 11

We have a ten song set and we just got done the first five songs, it feels so good after I stressful night to get up here and to perform.
“Thank you all for coming out tonight, I want to take this time to introduce ourselves Pure Harmony and our band. On drums Adam Bowler, on keyboards Steven Glover and on bass Jeff Steele. Give it up for them you guys.”
There was clapping and some whistling.
“I’m Mackenzie Steele on rhythm guitar.
Mackenzie said.
“And I’m Tori Gordon on lead guitar.”
“And I’m.”
I stopped mid sentence when I spotted Kevin and Joe walking into the room, crap what are they doing here? I watched them walk over to a booth in the back and saw them sit down, oh my god Nick was here the whole time. What do I do? Kevin’s eyes spotted me and he smiled. Crap, crap, crap. I started to panic not finishing my sentence.
“Camryn.”
Mackenzie whispered walking over to stand next to me.
“Oh huh and I’m Camryn Matthews and we are Pure Harmony.”
I walked over to stand behind Tori and grabbed a bottle of water off of the amp and whispered to Tori,
“Kevin and Joe just walked in, Nick was here the whole time.”
She turned to look at me and I nodded towards the back towards their booth. I walked back over to my mic stand and said,
“This next song is called ‘Flattery’. ”

There was clapping but even louder clapping and some whistling coming from the back I was surprised to see it was Kevin and Joe. Four songs later it was the song before our last and I debated on whether we should do it but we decided to do it.
“We couldn’t leave you without doing one cover song from our favorite band.”
I saw Nick, Joe and Kevin try to hide their faces making me chuckle, great now everyone thinks I’m crazy.
“Their three brothers that have become very popular and Mackenzie, Tori and myself are huge fans of theirs. Jonas Brothers, so we thought tonight we’d do one of their songs. Which one do you think Tori?”
“ ‘Hollywood’.”
Tori said.
“Mackenzie.”
I said turning to Mackenzie.
“ ‘Hollywood’.”
“ ‘Hollywood’ it is then, here’s ‘Hollywood’ by Jonas Brothers.”
Okay nerves calm down, just take deep breaths. The music started and it was like my nerves took a vacation the moment the music started. (All of Nick’s part Tori sings and all of Joe’s parts Camryn sings)

We did our final song then walked back to the small area behind the stage. I started winging out this isn’t good Joe and Kevin are going to be so mad at Tori and I.
“Tori this isn’t good you know that right?”
I said pulling her aside.
“Cammie I think you’re over reacting.”
“We lied to them Tori, they had no clue we were in a band. They find out now and not from us telling them but by catching us in the act, do you realize what might be going through they’re heads?”
“No but I guess you do?”
I looked at Tori with don’t start look.
“No I don’t but I’m sure it isn’t good.”
A guy walked over to us and said,
“There’s two guys wanting to see you, they’re asking to come back here.”
Crap, I opened my mouth to say something but Tori beat me.
“You can let them back.”
“Tori do you realize that our relationship with these guys are over now. Why didn’t we just tell them? I’m sure they could tell that we weren’t using them, god we are in so much hot water right now. And what about Mackenzie she doesn’t know we’re dating them.”
Tori got this look on her face.
“You told her?”
“Yeah listen I’m sure their not mad if they were I don’t think they would have cheered the way they did after every song we did since they got here.”
“Kevin and me just got over a misunderstanding now he finds out that’s I’m in a band and didn’t tell him. We are so over and I don’t think I can handle that.”
Tori looked over my shoulder and smiled waving; I turn around to see Joe and Kevin practically running over to us. Joe ran over and picked Tori up and spun her around in his arms.
“You were great baby.”
He said causing Tori to give me her I told you so look. I smirked at her when I felt a pair of arms go around my waist picking me up and spinning me around.
“Camryn baby you were great.”
Kevin said then kissed me, hold the phone so he’s not mad. When we pulled away I looked at him and asked,
“Your not mad?”
“No why would I be mad?”
“Because I didn’t tell you that I was in a band.”
He leaned down and kissed me.
“I’m not mad.”
I smiled and kissed him.
“We didn’t tell you guys because we didn’t want you to think that we were using you to try and get into the music business. We were going to tell you just wanted to wait till you guys realized that we are with you for you not because of your fame.”
Tori said.
“I think we pretty much already know that.”
Kevin said wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me to his side, I wrapped my arm around his stomach and held onto him. Smiling up at him he smiled back down.
“Oh my Jonas so way.”
We heard Mackenzie say from behind us, we turn around to see her standing there with her jaw down to the floor.
“Kenzie.”
“Your Joe and Kevin Jonas.”
She said walking further towards us.
“Unless there are others yeah.”
Joe said extending his hand to Mackenzie shook his hand then Kevin’s.
“Why don’t you three join Nick, Brooke and us for dinner?”
Kevin suggested.
“Yeah we weren’t going to stay for dinner didn’t want to crash Nick’s date but Nick suggested it before we came back here.”
Joe said.
“Nick’s out there?”
Mackenzie said.
“Oh no here she goes.”
Tori said making me laugh.
“He has a date Kenzie so.”
I said.
“I won’t do anything you guys, what do you think I’m some sort of crazed fan girl?”
We looked at her.
“Okay so I’m a little crazed but I won’t do anything I promise. By the way Tori this makes up for not taking me in Cammie’s place to that concert.”
“You were out of town visiting your Grandparents.”
We all laughed and walked out to the front and walked towards Nick and Brooke, we made it to the table when Joe said,
“We’re back, Nick you know Tori. Brooke this my girlfriend Tori, Tori this is Nick’s girlfriend Brooke.”
Tori and Nick hugged earning a glare from Brooke.
“Nick this is Camryn, Camryn this Nick and his girlfriend Brooke.”
Kevin said, Nick stood up and hugged me earning me a glare from Brooke.
“Nice to finally meet the girl that has been keeping my big brother’s mind occupied.”
Nick said his eyes wonder to the back of me where Mackenzie is standing.
“Oh right sorry guys Brooke this is our friend Mackenzie.”
I said, Nick shook Mackenzie’s hand, I saw the look they were giving each other and I chuckled earning an elbow in my ribs from Tori. We sat down and had dinner Brooke was nice but she seems to get very jealous over the smallest of things, like whenever one of us said even more word to Nick she would glare at us especially at Mackenzie.
“You guys were great up there? How long have you been together?”
Nick asked.
“Two years.”
I answered.
“Mackenzie.”
We heard from behind us oh no I know that voice, Mackenzie’s over jealous boyfriend Matt. We turned around to see him standing behind us looking mad as all hell.
“Matt what are doing here?”
Mackenzie asked I got up letting her out of the booth.
“You were suppose to meet me at the movies half and hour ago and you weren’t answering your phone so I thought I come see if you were still here.”
“Excuse me guys, I’ll be right back.”
Mackenzie said grabbing Matt by the arm and leading him off.
“He looked mad.”
Joe said.
“He gets very jealous.”
I said.
“I hope she’s okay.”
Tori said making us all nod expect Brooke.

*BUMP* I hope there is more to come! *crosses fingers*
