Guitars Bring People Together
Chapter Three
I smiled as Kevin and my forehead touch, we leaned in, about to kiss and---
“Ashlynn!! Come Down Here!” I woke up with a start and looked at the clock- ugh! Its summer vacation and she wakes me up at stinkin’ TWELVE!!!!
I came downstairs and went to my aunt, who was now my legal guardian. “What is it?” I yawned
“You have mail!” she said with an innocent smile Ugh! She acts just like a kid trying to get your attention, why do I like her again? Oh wait…that’s why.
I took the mail out of her hands and went into the kitchen, the coffee maker was already on, so I put a small bit of hazelnut syrup in the bottom of my cup and poured myself a cup of coffee, stirred it with the syrup and sat down at the kitchen table. I looked at the pile of mail in front of me, took a sip of coffee and stared to sort through it. Junk, Junk, Junk, Junk, Bills, Aunt, Aunt, Aunts Bills, Ticketmaster, Junk. Wait? Ticketmaster?
I looked at the envelope and opened it slowly, she picked up a message, it read; Dear Loyal Customer,
Thank you for purchasing these tickets, the person buying has specified to add a note from them, the one chosen is:
Hi Ashlynn!
Just wanted to give you an early… well, just wanted to treat you to something. Inside are Front Row Tickets, Normal and Private meet and greet tickets to the Jonas Brothers!
Love,
Aunt Martie
I stared at the note for a few minutes and pulled out the tickets, two of everything. I stared at the tickets until I heard my aunt leave for a work trip, or should I say move.
As soon as I was settled into the house, my aunt gave me some paperwork and the deed to the house. She had told me that her job as a zoologist was offered a big boost, to work with Terri Irwin.
Suddenly, my dead mind started getting hyper, except it was only repeating two words, if you are slow; you might need me to tell you which two words, the mall. Ha-ha! Silly people! You thought I was thinking Jonas Brothers or Kevin Jonas, well, now that you mention it, my brain was thinking 10 words- go to the mall to buy something to impress Kevin Jonas, well, maybe that’s 11 words, but no one needs to know- do they?
I picked up the phone and dialed Alisha’s number.
“Hello?” I heard Alisha’s younger sister, 15, answer.
“Hi Carol, It’s me, Ashlynn, may I speak to Alisha please?” I asked gently
“Oh! Sure, I’ll go and get her” Carol said as I heard her calling Alisha in the background.
“Hi Ashlynn!” Alisha’s familiar voice said.
“Ok, so I know that you love the Jonas Brothers,” I stopped and pulled the phone away from my ear as she screamed her fan-scream, “So I got us tickets to the concert on Sunday”
“Oh My Gosh! Ashlynn! You are the best friend ever!"" Alisha screamed, I ouldn't help but laugh.
"How about we go shopping for new outfits today at three?" I offered.
"Sure! Meet me at my house at 2:30" We said our good-byes and hang up.
I glanced at the clock, it was 1:00, so I had more than enough time to get ready. I walked up to my room and played a new song on the guitar Kevin gave me.
"The lights go out all around me
One last candle to keep out the night
and then the darkness surrounds me
I know I'm alive but I feel like I've died.
And all thats left is to accept that its over
my dream ran like sand through the fingers I've made
I try to keep warm, But I just grow colder,
I feel like I'm slipping away
After all this has passed
I still will remain,
after I've cried my last
There'll be
Beauty from Pain
Though it wont be today
someday I'll hope again
and there'll be
Beauty from Pain
You will bring Beauty from my Pain
My whole world is the pain inside of me
The best I can do is just
get though the day
And life before
is only a memory
I wonder why God lets me walk through this place
And though I cant understand
why this happened
I know that I will when I look back someday
and see how youve brought
Beauty from Ashes
and made me as Gold purified though these flames
After all this has passed
I still will remain,
after I've cried my last
There'll be
Beauty from Pain
Though it wont be today
someday I'll hope again
and there'll be
Beauty from Pain
You will bring Beauty from my Pain
Here I am
at the end of me
Trying to hold
to what I cant see
I forgot how to hope
this nights been so long
I cling to your promise,
there will be a dawn
After all this has passed
I still will remain,
after I've cried my last
There'll be
Beauty from Pain
Though it wont be today
someday I'll hope again
and there'll be
Beauty from Pain (my pain)
You will bring Beauty from my Pain"
(Credits go to Superchick, the song is called Beauty from Pain)
I glanced up at the clock, it was time to get ready, I combed my hair and applied some eyeshadow, Pink on the lid, dark hazel in the crease, and light hazel on the brow line. I blended it together and put on foundatio nand a pale-pink lip gloss.
I climbed into my silver BMW and drove to Alisha's house.
I was greeted by an 18 year old boy with medium lengh brown hair and a shorter layer of blonde hair ontop. His bright blue eyes shone when he saw me.
"Hi Ashlynn!" he said as he flashed me his amazing smile.
I blushed as I looked at him, he was wearing a white tank-top and tight black pants. I couldn't help but stare at his amazing muscles.
"Hey Jacob, is Alisha home?" I asked him.
I could see his face drop as he nodded, "Sure, I'll go and get her" He said as he went inside the house for a few minutes "She'll be down in a few minutes" he told me " Why not come in?"
"Thanks," I said as I went inside to the kitchen.
Soon Alisha was down, we drank some coffee and left for the mall in my car.
We first went to American Eagle, where Alisha got a cute pair of jeans with the Jonas Brother’s logo on the back pockets. I got the same jeans in a darker color. We then went to a small target store in the mall, where Alisha got a hot pink shirt, which she would bedazzle with the words “Jonas Brothers” . I got a red tank top and a small, cropped, thin jacket I could wear over it.
We went to Starbucks and ordered some coffee.
“ So, are you excited for the concert tomorrow?” I asked her
“Definitely” she replied, taking a sip of her Orange and Cream Frapachino (sp?).
“Well, the gates open at 2:00, so we should try to get there at around 9:00, just to be safe, and with traffic and all that, we should leave at 7:00” I told her.
She nodded, we finished our Starbucks and I drove her home. When I got home, I flopped onto my bed, I was going to see Kevin Jonas again! I just wonder if he’s changed at all.
