Both, Kevin and I jumped to the sound off a large thump coming from upstairs. “Frankie!”, screamed Kevin. He was babysitting and Frankie was upstairs, in his room, playing. The sound did indeed come from the five-year old’s room, but not from the five-year old. Joe was sitting on the floor with Frankie. “Oh, hey Ash. What are you doing up here?”, Joe sarcastically said as he picked up another Webkinz. Kevin and I were astonished. How did he get in? Then, I noticed that the window was open, and unfortunately, so did Kevin. “Joseph! What were you thinking? Climbing through a second story window is dangerous, and in front of Frankie!”. His voice was angered. “What can I say? I am Danger!” Joe got up with a huge smile on his face. We all walked downstair, except for Frankie. Nick was in the diningroom, playing and writing. Kevin got back to his music videos, and Joe and I walked out onto the porch and sat on the swing. Kevin said you wrote a new song.” I tried to bring the subject of gently. “Ummm . . . yea. We’ll have to play it for you later. Well, as soon as Kevin can.” “Who wrote it?” “I - I mean Nick. Nick wrote it.” “ Oh, cool” I could tell he was lying, but he never lied unless he had a very good reason, but I wasn’t sure why. “Movie night tonight?” I could also tell he was trying to change the subject. He was avoiding something. Was the song bad? Who was it about? “Sure. Here? Or my house?” “It doesn’t matter. Let’s have it here. Nick can join in too.” “Ok. I better go. I think my dad is trying to fix something again, and my mom needs moral support.” He laughed and walked me to my house. It was a short walk, just a few houses away, but it was silent.
