Chapter 3
There was about half an hours car ride to the hotel the guys were staying at. Nick was chatting about the abnd and his family and the guys girlfriends. Courtney was looking out the car window replaying the episode at the mall over and over again in her head. She couldn't beleive this was really happening. For once everything was going right in her life. The pressure of money and bills was gone for a few days. And she was in the backseat of a car with the most amazing guy EVER! She had never before realized how small a car's backseat was until she had climbed in behind Nick. Finally she worked up the courage to ask a few questions about the band and Frankie the 'bonus jonas'.
Soon she was telling him stories about when she was a baby. She was an only child so she had no fun older or younger siblings to play with. Both her parents were only children so no aunts, uncles, or cousins either. Her favorite story her mother told her all the time was about Christmas of '98. She was 5 and was really bored because the adults were talking and she had nothing to do. Looking in the kitchen for somethuing to eat, Courtney had found the Pumpkin Pie her gramma had brought. Being only 5, she had thought that it was a fancy face mask for the ladies. She decided to go up to mommies room to look in the mirror and took the pie with her. Carrying the pie down the hallway, she dotted the wall with pumpkin handprints and walked up the stairs. Finally making it to mommies room, she plooped down on the floor and smashed the pie all over her face. Gramma had gone in the kitchen and followed the pumpkin trail throught the hallway and up the stairs to Courtney. Gramma told her it was pie and not a face mask and washed Courtney up before helping her parents clean the hallway. It was Courtney's favorite Christmas and the last time she saw her remaining grandparent.Her gramma had gotten in a bad car accident the next day driving home and didn't survive.
By the time Courtney had finished her story, they had made it back to the hotel the boys were staying at. Nick said he was sorry she had lost her grandmother, but Courtney waved it off. "It's okay. I never really knew her and thats the only thing I regret about that. So, who wants to meet the family?" Nick laughed and took her hand leading her to the elevator. "Ready?" "Not really, but sure lets go."Opening the door to the main hotel room Courtney saw Kevin, Joe, Frankie, Mr and Mrs. Jonas and two girls in the living rom. "Hey everyone I'm back weather you want me or not!" "We don't want you, but she can stay whoever she is." said Joe winking at me. The brown haired girl next to him and punched him in the arm. "Obviously this is Joe and I'm Mads. Thats Frankie, Kevin and Ash." She said pointing out the various people. "I'm Joe's gilfriend, and Ash is Kevin's. Now who are you?" "I'm Courtney. I was the girl who won the tickets from the radio station and when I was shopping today I found Nick at the mall. He asked me if I wanted to come meet the rest of the band and of course I said yes!" said Courtney, addressing the whole room. "You can bunk with me and Mads if you want. We have an extra bad and we can tell you about the guys" said Ash with a wink. "Now come join us! We were just going to watch The Game Plan." "Okay" Courtney settled down between Ash and Frankie but Nick made him move over so he could sit next to her.
Courtney didn't realize she was so tired until the movie started. She adjusted so she was sort of leaning on Nick with her head on his shoulder. He didn't seem to mind much. He put his arm around her sholulders and went right back to watching the movie. Within a few minutes Courtney was asleep and woke up when the movie was over when Nick said, "Wake-up sleepy head. The movies over. You can go fall asleep in a real bed now." Groggily, Courtney sat up rubbing her eyes. "Follow Ash and Mads. They'l show you your bed." "Okay. Thanks again." said Courtney waving goodnight to Kevin, Joe, Mr and Mrs Jonas and Frankie. Turning to Nick, she said, "Thanks for everything. Sorry for falling asleep on you. Night!" "No problem. you looked beat. Sweet Dreams!" Courtney followed the girls to a room down the hall a little bit and they walked in. "Soooo...." Ash prompted. Courtney had already decided she liked them, adn they obviously decided the same thing about her. "Soooo... what?" "You like him and he likes you. We know that you two didn't just 'meet' at the mall! Spill!" cried Mads. Courtney sighed and began her story of their meeting. "Well first theres somethings you should know about my family that will make more sense when I tell the story...
