Prologue
“Dad, what’cha doing?” I asked as me and my friends skipped down on our hover boots and hovered above the ground as we walked over to my dad. “Working.” He said sternly as he ticked in a few things on a visual screen that appeared out of thin air. “On what?” I asked smiling as I peeked over his shoulder. “It’s a time machine.” He said as he gestured towards an old fashioned looking car. “That old thing? That’s like what from the year 2500?” I joking giggling as my friends laughed a bit. “Well, yeah. 2467 to be exact.” He replied as he did a few calculations. “Okay, I have to get something from upstairs, don’t touch anything.” He said as he jumped on his hoverboard and floated away. I looked at the timemachine, I mean it probably didn’t work – none of my dad’s inventions worked. So I just sat in it. “Come on, it doesn’t actually work.” I said as my friends hopped on in. The backseat was filled with my dad’s inventions that actually did work – but they were improved by me, I guess I took after my dad. “Let’s have a little fun with this or something.” I joked as I randomly entered the digits: “2, 0,0,8.” I turned around the car key, to “start the engine.” I started to feel the car shake as my friends’ eyes widened as did mine the car pooffed away. What had I gotten us into?!
Chapter 1
Okay hi, my name’s Loes and I guess my dad’s an inventor – but a lousy one, believe me, how was I supposed to know the one thing I was going to test out actually worked?! I’m a 15 year old with the best of friends, who I just got into a whole lot of trouble.
“Loes, where the hell are we?” Sarah asked as she brushed her messy brown hair out of her face. “I second that question.” Piped up Alana who ruffled in her semi wavi and semi curly dark brown hair. As Courtney’s head popped up from all the inventions they were covered in that had been lying on the backseat Loes looked around their surroundings. “I guess we’re in the year 2008.” Loes replied as her jaw clenched open staring at the forest, the girls had only seen pictures of forests like these in their history books.
“Loes, I know you don’t need this right now but .. WHAT THE HELL?” Sarah said as they heard actual real live birds whistle a tune. “What’s that?!” Alana murmured at the whistling. “I think it’s a .. bird?” Loes said quietly as she analyzed the tune that echoed in her ears. “Birds?” Madison piped up as she coughed while running her hand through her dark brown hair.
“I thought those only were in zoos.” Courtney said shaking her head.
Loes sat straight up. “Guess things were different in the 21st century.” She said as she stepped out and hovered above the ground, while still wearing hover boots.
They heard a buzzing noise come from the communications panel screen as Loes quickly ticked on it a few times.
“H-h-.. ello, girls?” The voice of Loes’ dad sounded.
“Dad!” She yelped as she hopped back into the seat.
“Where are you girls?” He asked as you heard a bit of buzzes in between.
“We’ve gone to the year 2008.” Courtney piped up sighing as her sandy blonde hair fell before her eyes as Courtney looked on the floor of the car, which was filled with strange inventions.
“Loes! I told you not to touch anything!” Mr. Turner scolded Loes.
Loes sunk back in the car seat. “I know, I’m sorry dad. But like I think the time machine is totalled.” She murmured as she entered: 3,0,0,0 and started the engine – they heard a few rumbles and then a poofing sound, but they didn’t go anywhere.
“I guess we’re stuck guys.” Sarah stated truthfully.
“Okay, well this means I’ll have to work on another time machine. You girls be careful, the past is a dangerous place – try to blend in. We’ll keep in contact as much as p..sible” Mr. Turner’s signal started to fade away. “Dad?! Dad!” Loes yelped, the screen had gone blank.
“Okay, well how hard can it be? I mean it’s the past, we’re from the future.” Courtney said as she looked around, it was a bit overwhelming all of this.
“Well I guess we can find some stuff here to help us out.” Madison said as she picked up a hoverboard. (Skateboard that floats above the ground) “Yeah, but we have to try and blend in, we can’t be noticed – it’ll be a fiasco.” Alana said using large hand gestures.
“We’ll survive, ooh cool a guitar.” Madison said smiling as she picked it up and strummed the strings, what she played sounded amazing.
“Whoa, since when do you play?!” Alana asked surprised.
Madison’s eyes widened. “I don’t…” She said quietly.
“Oh, that’s my dad’s invention. He like has a ton of those back here, along with a microphone, drumset in a box and bass. He like made this band packet to impress my mother on Valentines day, and it worked.” Loes said in a bored tone.
“So like no matter how much you suck at the instrument it sounds good?” Courtney asked a bit confused.
“Yep.” Loes said as she got the bass and started plucking the strings.
“Awesome, look out year 2008, we’re the kids from the future.” Sarah said grinning as the girls burst out in laughter, this wasn’t on their list on things to do but it sure was a awesome experience to endure – that was for sure.
“*CENSORED* it!” Mr. Turner yelped as he nudged the screen to try and make contact with the girls. “What’s wrong dad?” Ashlynn asked as she flew down with her jetpack.
“Your sister is stuck in the past, and she took all her friends with her.” Mr. Turner said in a stern voice.
“What?!” Ashlynn exclaimed. “So how are they gonna get back?” She asked shocked.
“I don’t know, I’ll have to build a new time machine.” Mr. Turner said as he looked around his desk mindlessly, looking for the blueprint of the time machine he had built.
“Okay dad, I’ll help. You’ll need someone to correct some of those calculations every now and then.” Ash said grinning as her father adjusted his glasses and smiled.
“Thanks Ash, now let’s get your sister and her friends back home.” He said as they started to get to work.
“Oh and Ash?” Mr. Turner started as he looked up.
“Yeah dad?” Ash responded running her hand through her brown hair.
“Don’t tell your mom, she’ll murder me.” Mr. Turner said in a scared sounding tone.
Ashlynn laughed lightly. “No worries dad, secret’s safe with me.”
The Jonas Brothers were in Manhattan, New York. Nick was pacing around in the dressing room, he was nervous.
“Nick J what’s wrong buddy?” Kevin asked putting on a Southern accent.
Nick let out a nervous chuckle. “Man, I don’t know I feel .. just nervous about the concert. There are gonna be 20 thousand people out there.” Nick glared at the door seeing Joe jumping around while doing vocal exercises.
“Maybe we need to get out, c’mon guys.” Kevin suggested as he dragged Nick and Joe with him outside, to take a walk in central park.
As the boys were taking a stroll in central park – wait back up. As Nick and Kevin were taking a stroll in the park, and Joe was running around insanely hyperactive still doing vocal exercises.
“Feel any better?” Kevin asked looking at his little brother.
Nick nodded. “Yeah, thanks man.” Nick said smiling, his eyes drifted off as he thought he saw a car standing in the middle of the park, surrounded by trees.
“Whoa, what’s that?” Nick said as he stared at it for a while, Kevin and Joe came to stand by him. “What’s what Nicholas?” They asked in unison, the car had disappeared in thin air.
“So, what are we gonna do?” Alana asked as the girls had sat in the car talking for an hour or so in the year 2008.
“We should explore around a bit I guess. Time’s a wasting.” Sarah suggested smiling.
“Yeah, but first.” Loes said as she flicked a switch. “We need to cover our tracks.”
“What did that do?” Madison asked curiously.
“Well these old cars were kinda high tech already, it made the outside of the car invisible. At least to the naked eye.” Loes said shrugging.
“Well it will have to do, right?” Courtney said smiling – it was time to get out and explore the year 2008.
