so this one is kinda long. im still on the fence, but i wanted to finally put the idea down. so here it is, honest opinions are welcome, tell me what you guys think.
"Fall into Me"
Right here waiting, staying strong
Come and fall into me
You say you've turned it off
Hid your heart upon a shelf
Scared of what it might cost
To take it down for someone else
'Cause loving him you lost
Too much of yourself
Baby can't you see, that he's not me
Nick had always been there for Trista. She was 13 and he was 15, taking care of her and protecting her like an older brother was all he had ever done. But as they grew older he found himself wanting so much more. Trista was oblivious to it all and went on to date the football quarterback. She was young and puppy love had taken full advantage of the two. Trista would always run home to see Nick and tell him everything. She gushed about how she felt and about his dreamy eyes. Nick would just nod his head, as he found himself in a trance from her warm smile, her cute chuckle, the way her black hair was perfectly parted and positioned above her shoulders.
When Nick heard about the quarterback cheating on Trista, his anger got the best of him, and he gave him a piece of his mind. But a football player was bigger and stronger and let Nick know who he was dealing with.
Trista cried for days when they broke up and Nick held her tight telling her that everything would be okay.
“I’m never loving again” she sobbed to him as the words shattered his heart.
And I need you to know you can fall into me
That my arms are wide open and will always be
Right here waiting, Staying strong
Come and fall into me
Why couldn’t she see it? Nick was and has always been there for her. Nobody cared for her like he did.
Trista was finally getting her braces off, and asked Nick to go with her, hoping he could help send away her fears and the jitters that she felt in her stomach. He never left her side, grasping on to her hand tightly.
“Thank you” she whispered to him when they were all done.
“I’m always here” he said through a smile, holding back his tears.
He knew everything about her. How she hated vegetables so he would eat them for her secretly when Trista’s family invited him over to dinner. He knew that she hated science, and each night they studied together he would help her with her homework, ultimately doing it for her. He would take walks with her at night while the stars were bright in the sky, knowing it was her favorite thing to do. He knew how long she had been playing the piano, how many songs, and which songs she knew how to play. He was at every recital sitting front row throwing a quick thumbs up and a sweet wink. Nick always made sure that he got her something purple for her birthday. He knew everything. How could she not see it?
I'll follow any road
Anywhere to get to you
I'll open up my soul
If that's what you need me to do
But now baby its your move
All you've got to do
Is believe in love, just believe in us
Nick left to work on his career, but always called her, and made sure he went to visit any chance he got. She would tease him about his love life, and the rumors about Niley. But he only shot quick smiles through a broken heart. Why couldn’t she see it was her? He didn’t want anyone else. He took her to the set when his brothers were on Hannah Montana, and he caught her twirling her hair. A nervous habit she had. Thinking his heart couldn’t break anymore, he felt a sharp pain when he saw the flirtatious smiles floating between her and Mitchell. They had a week long fling, but when his career stepped in the way, she went running into the arms of Nick crying. He comforted her again, telling her she was so much better. He wanted her heart and knew he would never hurt her. But she just didn’t see it. He followed her through thick and thin and every painful relationship she stepped into, always holding her in the end.
Now I need you to know you can fall into me
That my arms are wide open and will always be
Right here waiting, Staying strong
Come and fall into me
Trista finally graduated and Nick was there front and center. He dedicated a song to her at their next show, and she saw it as a brotherly gesture. She was so blind to his feelings. She left for college and he made sure they kept in touch. Flying out to see her, or bringing her out to a show for the weekend. Until one day she called.
“I’m dating a new guy Nick” she said with her heart on her sleeve.
“Good for you” he responded back through a sad smile.
But this time it was different. She kept in touch with Nick and raved about how amazing the new guy was. He hoped that something would happen and she would come running back again. He knew that he finally had the courage and the strength to tell her how he truly felt. If only she would give him the chance.
Slowly she became busier and busier, going out and spending all her time with her new beau.
Nick would call and email. Send her letters and dedicate songs to her at shows. He would mention her in interviews, telling the world that he missed his best friend. But she was too busy to notice. Like always, she didn’t see it.
Just believe in love, just believe in us
Baby....
Trista finally came back around and called him on the phone.
“Nick…? I’m sorry it’s been so long. I’ve missed you” she spoke to him softly.
“I’ve missed you too” he said as he let out a sigh of relief.
“I’ve got something to tell you” she told him through a smile.
Was this it? Did she finally understand? Did she see that Nick was in love with her?
I need you to know you can fall into me
That my arms are wide open and will always be
Right here waiting, Staying strong
Come and fall into me
There he stood, tall and strong, adorned in his black fitted suit and bowtie. Smiling softly as a tear fell from his eye. All eyes were at the front of the alter where he had been standing for the past ten minutes.
The doors opened and there she was. The music began as she made her way down the aisle like an angel sent from heaven. When she made it to the stairs her father kissed her on the forehead and walked off to the side. She stepped up and smiled brightly. It was her big day.
And as the priest began the ceremony, Nick looked deep into her dark brown eyes, his heart beating out of his chest. Trista was finally happy, truly happy.
“If anyone has a reason to why these two should not be wed, speak now” the father spoke loudly.
Then he saw it. That smile. That warm, beautiful smile that he loved so much. The smile that he had fallen in love with when he was younger. The smile he missed while they were on tour. The smile that showed him that she found where her heart belonged.
Come and fall into me
Baby fall into me
And as another tear fell to the ground, he watched the woman he loved kiss another man. Whatever was left of his heart was on the floor. The new Trista paraded out of the church as everyone in their seats gathered to follow close behind. He stayed inside sitting down the steps. Why didn’t she ever see it? Why hadn’t he ever said anything to her? He could have prevented this heartache but he was too weak to say anything.
The church was empty but Nick glanced up to see the door slowly opening. There she was walking towards him dressed in white.
“Nick… are you okay?” she questioned with a sad look on her face.
“I’m fine. I’m glad you are finally happy” he said as he wiped away a tear that went unnoticed by her.
“I know, me too” she said as she put out her hand for him to take. “Lets go to the reception, everyone is waiting”
He took her hand and slowly pulled himself up. He followed her down the aisle he wished was for the two of them and stopped.
“Hey Trista?”
“yeah Nick” she said calmly.
“You know I’m always here for you”
“I know Nick” she whispered back.
“If you ever need anything, you can fall into me”
She smiled softly, kissed his cheek, locked arms with him and began walking.
“I know Nick, I know”
His heart never healed and he pretended that everythng was okay, but deep down each night before bed he would pray to God that one day she would come back around and fall into his arms again.
