I'm soooo sorry for not posting this chapter yesterday, but I couldn't access the site all night! Anyway, now that the site is working again, here is the next chapter!
Chapter 2
Laura could hear voices around her. She had no idea where they were coming from, but she could hear them all quite clearly. Her eyes were closed as she listened. She kept on wondering if she was dead, if she was in heaven, or if she actually was still alive. But how could she be still alive? She didn’t know how she could be, unless some miracle had happened, and God had saved her. Instead, she concentrated on the voices, and what they were saying.
“Do you think she’s ever going to wake up?” A female asked. There was panic and worry in her voice.
“I don’t know. We’ve done all we can for her. All that we can do now is wait and see what’ll happen.” A deeper voice answered.
“What about that boy? The one who saved her?”
“Him and his brothers are fine. He comes to visit her quite regularly, actually. Sits by the side of her bed. Surprisingly, he doesn’t even know her name.”
“But, why would he worry so much if he doesn’t know her? Why would he have risked his life to save her?”
“Who knows?”
The voices started getting more distant, and she could hear footsteps walking away. Then, there was only silence. Laura slowly opened her eyes and looked around the room. There were machines surrounding the bed she was lying in, and tubes connected everywhere. She breathed slowly.
She was in the hospital. She knew it. Though she didn’t know how she had gotten there. Some boy had rescued her. She had heard the people say it. But who was that boy? Why had he even been willing to risk his life to save her in that plane? That’s when Isabelle snapped back in her thoughts. Her sister, what had happened to her little sister? And her parents? Were they all right?
She was so confused, and she felt sick. Her head was spinning. She closed her eyes to relax, but scenes from the plane crash popped up in her mind. She kept seeing her sister, clutching to her arm, and her parents. Even though she hadn’t been with them, she could see them; her mom with tears in her eyes, while her dad tried to comfort her, saying everything would be fine.
Tears ran down her cheeks, but she didn’t try to stop them. She heard footsteps coming closer towards her room, and her eyes immediately snapped open. Was it those two people who had been here before?
Instead, a boy with curly hair appeared in the doorway. As he got closer, his eyes widened when he realised that she was awake. “Guys! Come here quickly!” He screamed. The boy walked over to the side of her bed.
“Who – who are you?” She asked. She knew she had seen that boy before. It was on the tip of her tongue, but her mind was spinning so much that she could barely think. Suddenly, it came to her, and her eyes widened when she realized who it was. She couldn’t believe she hadn’t recognized him the second he walked in.
“Wait…” she said, just as he opened his mouth to speak. “You’re – you’re Nick Jonas, aren’t you?”
He smiled a little and nodded. His brothers suddenly ran into the room – one of them being the boy who had helped her on the plane, who she now recognized as Joe - and their eyes both widened, just like Nick’s, when they saw that she was awake.
“You’re awake!” Joe exclaimed loudly, throwing his arms in the air. Nick and Kevin both gave him a disapproving look, but Laura laughed a bit, and their expressions softened. He acted exactly the way she had imagined he would, and like she usually saw him in videos. But, her laughter didn’t last long, and soon her face returned to the serious expression she had before.
“Um… I don’t want to seem rude, but why are you guys here? Shouldn’t you be at some show or something?” Laura asked. It still seemed strange that the Jonas Brothers were in her hospital room, and she was fed up with all the questions she had twirling around in her head. She wanted answers.
“Well, we were going to a show in New York, when we were in that plane crash. Then Nick wouldn’t let us leave here until we made sure you were fine,” Joe blurted out, and Nick hit him on the arm, giving him a look that told him not to say another word.
This just made Laura even more confused. Why would Nick Jonas want to stay in a hospital just to make sure she was fine? She barely even knew him, other then magazines and videos. Why would he care about some random girl? Instead of asking, since she knew she wouldn’t get a straight answer, she tried to find out more details on what was happening to her.
“How long have I been here for?”
“Um… about 3 to 4 days, I think,” Nick replied.
Laura couldn’t believe that she had been asleep for that long. “What… what happened to me?” She asked, her voice shaking a bit.
“We don’t know. The doctor wouldn’t give us any details,” Kevin said.
“I need answers,” she said, her voice low as she turned around and faced the opposite wall. She heard footsteps walking away, and she figured that the boys had left her alone. That was what she needed right now. Just some peace and quiet, some time alone to relax and digest all this. There was so much more she needed to know, but she wasn’t sure if she would be able to take more of this.
Laura felt something warm against her skin, and she looked down to see the necklace her friend had given her. It seemed almost impossible that not too long ago, she had been safe and sound at home, laughing and talking with her friends. Now, she was all alone, in a dark hospital room, wondering what had happened to her, to her family. She fell back asleep only a few hours later, tears pouring down her cheeks.
Post all your comments and keep on bumping this fanfic to the front page!! The more comments that I get, the sooner the next chapter will be posted
Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to post any new chapters this weekend, and if I do, they'll be very short, because I have some friends from out of town coming to visit this weekend. So, I'll be spending a lot of time with them, and less on my computer. I'll still try and post a new chapter by sunday, if I can.
