Chapter 10
“Glad to see you could make it,” Eve said turning around to look at me from the front passengers’ side. I had just gotten in the car and was sitting next to Charles in the back seat. My other friend, and Eve’s boyfriend, Perry was driving. By the looks of it, this was going to be a double date.
“Yeah, me too,” I said smiling.
“We are going to go to this fancy diner Perry’s older brother told us about. Then we are going to a party.” Eve said.
“Sounds great,” I said with a fake smile on my face. I didn’t mind the whole diner thing, but I wasn’t all that ecstatic about the party part. Seeing as I am kind of a reserved person I am not all that huge into parties.
After making a little more small talk we soon arrived at a fancy diner. It looked amazing from the outside with fountains and a brick pathway leading up to the front doors. We quickly found a parking place and we walked up the brick pathway and into the fancy doors.
It was just as extravagant inside as it was outside. The theme was a night in Paris so there was fancy French furniture and decorations everywhere. The lights were also dimed and throughout the whole place you could see little lights white Christmas lights that were at each table. It actually looked like we were in Paris. There was even a statue of the Eifel tower in the middle.
We were soon seated at a table for four somewhat close to the statue. Females were on one side and males on the other, each facing their respected partners. The waiter, dressed in black trousers, white shirt and a red apron, passed out menus and proceeded to ask us what beverages we would like to drink.
“Chamomile tea for me,” I said when it was my turn to order.
As I looked at the menu I wasn’t surprised to find French food was the only choice. I didn’t recognize half the items so I just stuck with some pasta. Satisfied with my choice, I set my menu down and waited for the waiter to return.
“So, Victoria, I hear you’re into computers,” Charles said casually, trying to break the silence that enveloped our table.
“Yeah, I am what about you?” I asked a little nervous.
“A little…” he replied.
Thankfully the waiter arrived right after with our drinks and he also took our orders. I could already tell tonight was going to be one long night.
