Chapter 2
“Ok Gabi, text me when you are done okay? I’ll come and see your dress before you buy it.” said Jayden.
“Ok! See you later!” Gabi and Kady ran off in search of the perfect dress.
“Remember when we had our Christmas dance in grade 10? That was so amazing!” Brook looked at Jayden.
She nodded, “Yeah. It really was amazing. New York at Christmas themed, so romantic!” Jayden answered.
“Is that where we are for Christmas again this year? New York?” Katie asked.
“No. We get to go to Banff again.” said Brooklyn happily.
Jayden checked her sidekick again. “No,” she said, “we are in New York this year. We were in Banff last year. Jeepers Brooklyn! Get your facts straight.” Jayden laughed and punched Brooklyn in the arm really lightly.
“Oww!” exclaimed Brooklyn, rubbing her arm.
“Don’t be such a baby. I didn’t even hit you hard!” laughed Jayden.
“Yeah. She normally hits like this,” Katie hit Brooklyn really hard on the other arm.
“OWW! What the heck? Stop hitting me!”
“Sorry!” said Jayden and Katie, then they looked at each other and started laughing.
“Let’s go to Starbucks! I haven’t had a coffee since this morning!” Katie darted off towards the nearest Starbucks.
“You guys owe me a drink for that!” Brook stomped off after Katie, Jayden rolling her eyes behind her and silently laughing.
“Can I get a grande strawberries and crème frapp please?” asked Katie bouncing on her toes.
“And for you two? Anything?” asked the cashier.
“Um, 1 grande strawberries and crème and 1 grande green tea please.” Jayden paid for Brooklyn, because Brooklyn wouldn’t stop kicking her if she didn’t. Katie and Brooklyn started talking about the newest Hollywood couple and how they were not going to last. Jayden sat stirring her tea, to cool it off, when she heard-
“Nick! Do you have a nickel?” Jayden looked up to see if it was the Nick she had just met in the Starbucks earlier. Sure enough, it was. Leaving Brooklyn and Katie, Jayden went over to get another stir stick and casually bump into Nick again.
“Haha! Nick do you have a nickel? Get it? Nick and nickel!” one of the boys started howling with laughter.
“Oh my gosh Joseph. You are so retarded.” another boy with stick straight hair said to him paying for his latte. Jayden snickered, but didn’t want to make eye contact. The boy called Joseph looked at her and walked over.
“What are you laughing at?” Joseph asked, faking anger.
“Nothing.” Jayden couldn’t keep a straight face, and started laughing. So did Joseph, and hearing Joseph laugh, Nick turned around.
“Jayden?” Nick asked.
“Hey! You’re Nick right? I just met you in the other Starbucks. You are back again?”
“Yeah. My other brother Kevin needed another Starbucks, and we were going to go shopping. This is my other brother, Joe.” Nick introduced Joe and Kevin, as he walked over.
“Looks like Joe doesn’t need anymore sugar.” Jayden observed, looking at the overly enthusiastic Joe who was admiring the sugar.
“No,” Kevin replied, taking the packet out of Joe’s hand, “He’s already had enough for today.” Jayden laughed, and then remembered Brooklyn and Katie.
“Do you guys want to come sit with my friends and me?” asked Jayden. The boys all agreed, so the 4 of them walked over to where they were originally sitting.
“Hey guys! This is Nick, I met him in the Starbucks before we came here, and these are his brothers. This is Joe and Kevin, and I don’t know your last name-”
“Jonas, sorry about that.” answered Nick.
“Hey! Aren’t you guys that band, The Jonas Brothers?” asked Katie.
“Well, we are brothers and our last name is Jonas, so yes. We are the band The Jonas Brothers.” said Kevin.
“That has such a nice ring to it. I love that name.” Brooklyn looked at Joe and smiled.
“Thank you very much pretty girl. I’m Joseph, and you are?”
“Brooklyn.”
“Jayden.”
“and Katie, and we are Abov- OW.” Katie exclaimed as Jayden kicked her under the table. Jayden frantically texted Katie, as Katie was complaining how Jayden hit her. The text said:
Don’t let them know we are Above You! not yet at least. because I think I really like nick from what I’ve met and Brooklyn is going all googly eyed at Joe, and Hollywood relationships don’t last and I want this too.
please don’t tell!
“We were going to do some shopping, you ladies want to come?” asked Nick.
“Sure. We have to stop at the music store though, we have a special order coming in.” answered Jayden.
“Ok then, let’s go!” Joe extended his arm to Brooklyn and escorted her out of Starbucks, Jayden and Katie laughing and Nick and Kevin rolling their eyes.
