Chapter 12
When the truck pulled up to the house, the girls nearly started crying. Jayden and Brooklyn were seething with anger and Katie couldn’t even bear to look, she had hidden her face in Kevin’s coat. The boys were shocked at what they had seen. Jayden’s bedroom window was smashed apart, the front door was ripped off and their Christmas tree that was in the front window was tipped over.
“Our…Our house-” Brooklyn ran into the house to see the other damage and she stopped cold in the front door, then she started screaming.
“WHAT’S WRONG?” screamed Joe.
“She took our puppies, Pepper, Patches and Pooky!” Brooklyn’s makeup was streaming down her face from crying so hard.
“THAT JERK HAS MY PUPPY AND MY SISTER. SHE IS GOING TO GET IT SO HARD!” declared Jayden.
“Whoa there, calm down-” started Kevin.
“CALM DOWN?” screamed Brooklyn and Jayden at the same time.
“That was a poor choice of words Kevin,” said Nick, “Let’s go sit down on the couch and talk about what you guys are going to do.”
“Wait,” said Katie, “You guys aren’t going to help us?”
“Of course we are!” said Joe, “Nick just mixed up his words right Nick?”
“Oh yeah, of course we’ll help. What kind of boyfriends would they be if they didn’t help?” Jayden got hit by those words kind of hard. Nick wasn’t hers so she shouldn’t care as much right? Kevin noticed this too and pulled Jayden into a hug, mouthing to Nick “What’s your problem? You should be the one doing this, not me. I have my own girlfriend to comfort.”
“I’m going to see what damage Tiffany has done to my room.” said Jayden.
“I’m coming too. I want to talk to you about Tiffany.” said Nick. As Jayden was walking up the stairs, Joe punched Nick in the back.
“Do it now!” he mouthed at him.
“I am, so be quiet.” Brooklyn and Katie looked at each other. After having a crappy day, Jayden’s may get a lot better.
Nick ran up the stairs after Jayden and went into her room. Nothing was really damaged; just everything was not in its normal place. A couple things were broken though; Jayden expected more things that have been destroyed. Jayden just stood there and collapsed on the ground, crying her eyes out.
“Baby, it’ll be alright. You can get her back for all the crap she just put you through.” he looked at her, with all the makeup pouring down.
“But why me? I didn’t do anything to her, she did it all to me. Stole my sister and our puppies, trashed our house and kissed you when she knew I was out with you. Is she trying to get you?” she asked.
“Of course, ever since we had the summer thing in 2006. She has been trying to get me back by pulling stupid stunts, thinking I’ll notice her. But then I bumped into you and I have had so much fun this time we have spent together. Jayden, I was stupid for not asking sooner, and this might be a bad time to ask, but I was wondering, officially, if you wanted to be my girlfriend.” he blushed.
Jayden looked at him, and gave him the biggest hug ever. “That means yes.”
As they pulled apart, Nick kissed her on the lips. “We should put your room back together.” he suggested.
“Yeah and we should do something about the window, I’ll put a blanket over it.” As they worked together putting all of Jayden’s stuff back, they heard 2 piercing screams downstairs. They booked it down the stairs and saw Brooklyn first screaming about the Christmas tree, her puppy and everything else in general. But mostly about the Christmas tree, it had been tipped over and all over their expensive and precious ornaments had smashed and broke into millions of pieces. Then the 4 of them heard sobbing in the practice room, and Jayden and Brooklyn looked at each other.
“OUR INSTRUMENTS!” they screamed and ran towards the room, where they saw Katie sobbing uncontrollably on the floor and Kevin looking so shocked. Her George Harrison guitar lay broken on the floor, with the neck snapped in half and all the strings cut. There was a huge scratch in the mahogany grand piano, and “Minnie” was in pieces on the floor. Somebody had clearly jumped on it, many times. Every single one of the girls instruments were broken and damaged in some way.
“Girls, we are officially helping now. You did not have to suffer looking at all this damage that we never could have thought Tiffany would be able to inflict on you.” said Joe, Kevin and Nick nodded in agreement.
“Let’s go and talk about what we could do to get everything back. We have to act fast; I don’t want anything else happening to Gabi or our puppies.” said Katie. Everybody sat on the couches in couples and thought about what they could do.
“We could call the police and have them secretly follow us and they could arrest Tiffany.” suggested Katie.
“But what if they kill her?” said Jayden.
“It’s Tiffany, she can’t kill anybody.” said Joe.
“But you saw what she did to our house, and our family! SHE’S EVIL!” screamed Brooklyn.
“Maybe we should have the police there and fill an envelope full of monopoly money so it feels like a million dollars, so she hands over Gabi and the puppies, and then the police arrest her?” said Kevin.
“BRILLIANT BOY! I love your thinking.” said the girls.
“How about I talk to Tiffany, and ask her what the whole thing is about before we do anything drastic.” said Nick.
“That’s a good idea. Call her right now.” said Joe. As Nick dialed, he saw Jayden’s knuckles clench and she looked like she was ready to scream. Nick put it on speaker so everybody could hear, but they had to be quiet. It could only be Nick talking. Jayden went over to stand next to him.
“Hi Nick!” a sweet sickly voice said. “How are you baby? I saw People Magazine, how awful making you choose. Obviously you are gong to pick me over her. That’s one big slut you got over there.” At this point, Jayden let out an ear-piercing scream and Nick put his hand over her mouth to stop the sound.
“Owee! What was that?” asked Tiffany.
“Oh, Joe saw a bug. Anyway, why don’t we meet for coffee? We haven’t done that in a long time.” He was taking Tiffany away from Gabi, so the 5 of them could go rescue her and the puppies.
“Sure! How about you pick me up at this warehouse, I just had to drop some baggage off.” Jayden clenched her fists, and so did Brooklyn. Joe saw and put his hand over Brooklyn’s hands so she didn’t lash out at the phone and spoil the plan. Kevin quickly wrote the address down and Nick said bye to Tiffany.
Katie let out a cheer of joy, “WE GOT IT, SHE FELL FOR IT, WE GOT IT, SHE FELL FOR IT.”
“Hold on there, the plan still hasn’t be carried out. But Tiffany could be away with Nick for hours.” Kevin said happily.
“What if she has guards? Protecting everything?” said Nick.
“Tiffany is too stupid to think of that. I think she thought we would be scared of her to actually come and rescue everybody.” said Jayden.
“Don’t worry. Me and Katie can entice them because we are so sexy and famous so they have to notice us.” said Brooklyn. Katie looked very surprised.
“Ok, so Jayden, Joe and Kevin will grab everybody and run into Jayden’s truck. Nick will take Tiffany away and Brooklyn and I can be distractions, if we need them. If not we can make sure nobody see’s our rescue.” she said. Everybody was clear on the plan and 15 minutes later they headed out, Nick driving Kevin’s car and Jayden driving her Rover with Brooklyn in the front seat and Kevin, Joe and Katie wedged between the two boys.
As the 2 cars reached the warehouse street, Nick went towards it but Jayden went down a different street and parked in front of the McDonalds.
“Why are we stopping here? Are you hungry?” asked Joe.
“No idiot. I’m waiting for Nick and Tiffany to drive past and then we can continue to the warehouse and get on with the mission.” said Jayden.
“I’m hungry, can we run in and grab something?” asked Katie. Jayden and Brooklyn turned around to look at her,
“You’re not serious are you?” asked Brooklyn.
“Katie, we are on a very important mission and nothing can come in the way of it, not even your stomach.” said Jayden. The boys laughed, and Katie crossed her arms.
“Fine, but after the mission, we are getting McDonalds.” she said. Just then Nick drove by in the car, and Jayden continued on their way to the warehouse. Just as Nick suspected, there was 1 huge guard standing in the way of the door. Luckily his back was turned and didn’t see them creep out of the truck.
“Ok, go Katie and Brooklyn!” whispered Joe. They nodded and ran to the guard.
“Oh my gosh! Look at your muscles. We know a band that could really use a big tough guy like you protecting them from crazed fans. How would you like to be a security guard for Motion City Soundtrack?” Brooklyn said the first words that came to her mind.
“Yeah,” Katie continued, “they have had so many problems with their old guards that they had to fire them and asked us, because we are close friends with them, to help them find a bodyguard.” As they were sweet-talking the guard, who looked like he was seriously thinking about it, Joe, Kevin and Jayden snuck through the door and ran to room #529. There Gabi was hunched in a corner with the puppies. When she saw them she jumped up and ran to Jayden, and they hugged each other so tightly.
“I was so worried they would hurt you!” Jayden was crying now.
“I was so scared!” said Gabi. Joe and Kevin picked up the puppies and motioned for them to go now. They snuck out the way the came in and saw Brooklyn and Katie still talking to the guard. He gave them the signal to go and they said bye to the guard and ran to the truck.
As they drove past the guard, Brooklyn blew him a kiss and he blushed.
“GABI! PUPPIES, OH WE MISSED YOU GUYS SO MUCH!” squealed Brooklyn and Katie.
“That was so easy. It didn’t even have a hitch and that guard was so easy to sweet talk!” observed Kevin.
“I’ll text Nick and we can meet them at our house.” said Joe.
“Can I go back to Mom and Mike’s house? I really just want to be home right now.” asked Gabi.
“Of course. Are you hungry?” asked Brooklyn. Gabi nodded her head.
“McDonald’s here we come!” said Katie. Everybody laughed. They stopped at the McDonalds and loaded up on food. Then Jayden ran into a pet store and grabbed some food for the dogs as well. Then they dropped Gabi off at their parent’s house.
“Ok Kevin, I’m letting you drive my baby. Please don’t hurt her.” Jayden switched seats with Kevin, who sat in the driver’s seat and Jayden in the passenger. Every time he had to turn or do anything she would squeal.
“Are you okay?” asked Joe.
“Yup. I’m fine, OH MY GOSH DON’T DO THAT!” she yelled.
“What? I can’t turn?” asked Kevin.
“Not so sharply!” she said.
“Oh my gosh Jayden. I’m not going to wreck your baby!” said Kevin, as he pulled into a long driveway of a huge mansion.
