Our Lives Crash Together. (One-Shot) {{Joint Fanfic}}

Our Lives Crash Together

A One-Shot by LOVEMissMandie and Niki_619

Kathrene turned on her blinker and quickly changed lanes as she got ready to get off the freeway. Reaching down she turned the knob on her stereo making her Carrie Underwood C.D. play louder through her front speakers. Then as if on cue her favorite song began playing.

Hello you long shots
You dark horse runners
Hairbrush singers, dashboard drummers
Hello you wild magnolias
Just waiting to bloom

There's a little bit of all that inside of me and you
Thank God even crazy dreams come true

Looking over her shoulder she switched lanes again and headed down the ramp and started to slowly press on the breaks as she sang along with the song.

I stood at the bottom of some walls I thought I couldn't climb
I felt like Cinderella at the ball just running out of time
So I know how it feels to be afraid
Think that it's all gonna slip away
Hold on, hold on
Here's to you free souls, you firefly chasers
Tree climbers, porch swingers, air guitar players
Here's to you fearless dancers, shaking walls in your bedrooms
.

As she came to a complete stop she reached down and started to search through her purse for her gum.

All she saw were wrappers, keys, credit cards and change. She glanced up at the light, and seeing that it was red, went back to fishing around her purse. She muttered along with the music, bobbing her head and shuffling things around in her purse until she found what she was looking for. She unwrapped it with her hand as she heard a few car honks behind her. She looked up and instinctively hit the gas pedal, not realizing that the light was still red. She swore to herself as she slammed on the breaks. She cringed when she heard the sound of metal crushing together, and more car horns.

Letting herself relax slightly she realized that she was scrunching her shoulders upward and she was holding onto the steering wheel so tight that her knuckles where white and shacking. Turning her head slightly she grimaced in pain as the muscles in her neck groaned.

“Ow.” She whispered to her self.

Putting her car in park she turned in her seat and saw the car behind her basically sitting on her bumper.

“Oh Dang. Dad’s going to kill me.”

She turned back around, taking a deep breath. She ignored all the cars honking behind her as she turned off her car. She leaned over, despite the pain that screamed from her neck, and grabbed her insurance card from the dash board. She grabbed her license from her wallet and unbuckled her seat belt. She slowly opened the car door. Placing both feet on the ground, she grabbed onto the steering wheel to help stand her up, since her muscles ached too much.

As she straightened her body out upwards she had to quickly move her feet further apart so they would support her because she kept feeling as if she was going to fall over. Turning towards the back on her car she walked slowly to her tailgate. Looking at the damaged she gave a small gasp.

Her back window was cracked, barely staying in place. Her bumper was horribly bent out of place and her brake lights were completely gone, shattered all over the concrete.

Reaching down into her pocked she quickly pulled out her cell phone and took several pictures off the damage, just like her dad told her to when she first started driving.

Each time the shutter snapped, she cringed, knowing that each picture would send her dad into an angry rage. She took the photo's that she needed, barely looking at the other car's damage. She knew her's was bad enough-she didn't need to see even more of it. She was dialing the number to triple A when she heard a car door shut. She closed her eyes, expecting a major melt down from the driver that slammed into her.

But she was instead greeted by a frantic voice.

“Oh my gosh. Look at this mess! Are you okay?”

Kathrene turned to look at the person that belonged to the voice and was caught off guard. She was staring at a guy with curly hair that seemed extremely familiar.

“uh yeah... I’m Fine... I think.” She answered, slowly rubbing the soreness in her neck.

“are you okay?”

He ran a hand through his curls, grimacing as he stretched his back. "I'm sorry. Wow...this....your car..." he was speechless as he examined her car. She nodded, putting her head down, shutting off her phone. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to slam on my breaks! But, I just, the car honked, and I got nervous and I wasn't paying attention!' She wailed, tears surfacing in her eyes. The boy's face immediately softened as he walked over to her.

"Hey," he said softly. "It's okay. No one was seriously injured. Don't cry...please." She sniffed, wiping her nose with the sleeve of her favorite sweatshirt

“I’m sorry; I guess I am just a little shaken up. I’ve never been in an accident before... gosh my dad is going to kill me... and I was only two payments away from having it paid for...”

She quickly finished whiping the tears from her eyes and she help up her insurance registration.

“Well I guess we should exchange license and registration.”

“Oh yeah.” The guy quickly gave a jolt then headed back to his car.

Taking the chance, Kathrene looked down at the front of his car. The front bumper was smashed in but other then that there wasn’t much damage.

Her phone vibrated in her pocket,, and she pulled it out, reading she had one new text. She flipped open her phone. "Where are you?! You're late for class!" It read. Kathrene groaned, furiously typing back that she wouldn't be able to make it to her calculus class. She slid her phone back into her pocket as the boy came back from his car. He gave her a smile, and instantly, her knees weakened. She blamed it on the crash.

“Well here is my registration...” then he paused. “If I give you my license will you promise not to look at the picture on it.”

“What!” Kathrene asked with a laugh.

“It’s a horrible picture.”

Kathrene laughed and put her hand out waiting for him to place it in her hands. He swiftly put it in her hand, letting his fingers barely slide over her palm.

A tingle ran down her spine, but it was ignored by the laughter that over came her, despite her best efforts to hold it back. She then gasped when she saw the name on the license.

"You....YOU'RE KEVIN JONAS!" She shrieked, holding the license to her chest, completely shocked.

He turned super red, and a small smile played on his face.

"Yeah....you caught me." I realized how much of a psychotic I must of sounded like, so I composed myself. I cleared my throat, looking back down at his picture. I had to giggle, not being able to help it. I caught him looking at me, a mock-angry look on his face.

"What did I tell you...." he warned. I tried to stop, but couldn't. It could've been the nerves escaping as well, but something triggered my giggle fit. I took a breath, handing him back his I.D.

"Great picture," I told him, trying to keep a straight face. He looked at me, stone cold, but then his face broke out in a huge grin.

She swear her heart stopped breathing when she saw that smile. He raised an eyebrow, as if she was supposed to be doing something but wasn't. She snapped out of the trance his smile had her in, as she handed him her card, with her cell phone number written on it, along with all her information. He took it, and smiled while looking down at it.

"Katherene. Pretty name," he complimented her. She blushed, kicking her tire with her toe.

"Thanks," was all she could manage to say.

Her phone vibrated again, this time it was her dad. She picked up, fearing the worst. She had called and left a voice message on his machine, and she was pretty sure he was going to get mad. She stood there, taking it like the adult she supposedly was. She hung up, her face no longer full of amusement.

"Everything okay?" Kevin asked. She shook her head and gave a half smile.

"About as good as it can get when you have no money and you have to pay for an accident that was completely your fault," she grumbled. She kicked the tire, this time a little harder

Kevin looked down at his shoes then back to Kathrene.

“I..”

By this time Kathrene was looking at him expectedly.

“I think we should probably move your car. We are still on a freeway exit.”

Kathrene looked around and it hit her that cars were honking and giving her angry looks.

“Yeah, but how?”

“We push it.”

“Push it! Your kidding right!”

“What other choice do you have?”

Kathrene looked around helplessly.

“Maybe I can start it up and try to drive it.”

“No way, there are so many things that could have been knocked out of place and could explode if you start the car. Just go put it in neutral and I will start pushing it.”

“All by yourself?”

“Yeah, I can handle it.”

“I don’t think...”

“Hey, stop doubting my masculinity and get in the stinking car!” he said with a trusting smile.

“Okay....”

Walking over to the car Kathrene got in, took of the emergency break and then put it in neutral. Then she yelled back to Kevin.

“Okay. All ready.”

She felt a sudden jolt as the car began to move forward slowly. She took a hold of the steering wheel as she guided the car into the Target parking lot just a few feet away.

As soon as she had her car safely in a parking shot she put the car in park and stepped out of it.

Walking to the back of the car she saw Kevin bent over in two breathing hard.

“Are you okay?” she asked quietly.

She waited for a few seconds then he finally answered.

“Yeah I’m fine. Just a little tired is all.”

Kathrene looked at him and she noticed that his shirt was wet around the collar and he had sweat dripping from his face.

“I know you are really tired. But you should probably move your car before it gets hit... again...” she gave a faint smile and he whipped his head up quickly.

“I didn’t even think about that! Be back.” He quickly made his way back in the direction that they had just come.

Soon Kathrene watched as he pulled his car into the slot next to hers and he got out.

“Man those people on the off-ramp are mean. They honked at me when I was trying to get my key in the door.” Kevin spoke in a light hearted tone.

“Yeah, people around here can get really grouchy if they are late for there morning Starbucks.” Kathrene retorted with a laugh.

They both sat and smiled at each other for a few minutes but Kathrene’s smile was quickly wiped off her face when she saw her dad’s car pulling into the far drive way.

“Well, this is going to be fun.” She mumbled to herself.

As soon as her dad got out of his car he walked up to hers with a critical look in his eyes. He didn’t say a word but walked around both cars and assessed the damage. Then he finally spoke.

“Did you take pictures at the scene?”

“yes Daddy.”

“Good Girl”

He did another rotation around the cars then he came up to Kathrene and Kevin.

“Did you exchange License and Registration?”

“Yes Daddy.”

“Good.”

“Are you both okay?”

“Yes Daddy, just a sore neck is all.” Her fathers eyes soften and he spoke again.

“Good. And you son?”

“I’m fine sir. I’m afraid I hurt your daughter and her car more then it affected me.”

“I can see that.” Her father answered turning his back and walking to his car.

Kathrene was still on edge waiting for her dad to start yelling but he seemed to be doing extremely well taking the whole situation in. He came back with a note book and he started to asked Kevin questions.

“Name...Address... Insurance provider...”

Kathrene began to feel extremely dizzy again and she swayed on her feet as her head felt as if it was going in quick spermatic circles. Grabbing onto the back of her car she felt her hand get cut by a piece of glass as she started to fall towards the ground.

The next thing she knew she was sitting on the ground in Kevin’s arms.

“Ug, what happened.”

“I don’t know, you just passed out.” Kevin answered near her ear.

“oh.”

“are you okay, sweetheart?” her dad asked unsure.

“Yeah I just don’t feel to good.”

Suddenly out of the corner of her eye Kathrene saw a hug bus enter the driveway and head towards them. Her father and Kevin fallowed her gaze and she felt Kevin give a sigh from behind her.

“My parents are here.”

“That’s your parents?” Kathrene’s dad asked in a shocked tone.

“Yeah.” Turning down to Kathrene Kevin spoke again. “ Do you think you can get up?”

“Yeah I’m fi...” Kathrene’s head went spinning into the abyss once again.

This time when she woke she was surrounded by five new people, four guys and one women who was lightly wiping Kathrene’s forehead with a cool rag.

“Honey are you okay?” she asked patiently.

“Ugh.” Kathrene didn’t even answer that time. She just sat there as her head throbbed and her hand throbbed. She really needed a pain killer.

“The ambulance is on the way” She heard her father say urgently.

“Ambulance.. Daddy I don’t need an Ambulance.”

“Yes you do. You’ve passed out two times in less then five minutes. There is something wrong.”

“No there..” the rest of her argument was cut of by the blaring of sirens. And before she knew it kathrene was lifted from Kevin’s protective arms to a gurney.

She looked around and saw Kevin and her father standing to one side and the technicians standing on the other.

“We definetly need to take her to the hospitial sir. There could be a concusion or brain damage from the crash.”

“Okay, lets go then.”

They started to roll Kathrene away and she heard a familiar voice from beside her.

“Well I guess this is goodbye.”

“For now.” She answered back with a smile.

Kevin smiled back and her and she spoke one last time before she was lifted into the ambulance.

“I’m expecting a phone call at the least, flowers at the most. After all, you owe me for breaking my beautiful car.”

In a instant the technicians put her up into the ambulance and the doors were closed and in a matter of seconds she was being whisked away into the hospital, but all that filled her mind was a certain boy with the perfect curl in his hair.
