I amde a new one, because I have the full one shot now. Mandie (LoveMissMandie) helped me write some of it, and she wrote the song, so I'm dedicating it to her!
*Joe’s P.O.V.*
“Alyssa! My brothers and I are definitely GOING TO BEAT YOU!” I yelled at the back of the girl who was clad in skinny jeans and a black band shirt that had the name of her band on the back. She turned around, her dark red hair flying behind her as her hazel eyes scanned the place for me. Finally, her eyes met mine. “Yeah right Joe, Just the S.A.M.E is going to crush you guys!” Her best friend Mandie came to her side. Kevin was dating her, the enemy. Well, I can’t really call her an enemy. She’s not that bad. Alyssa’s other best friend Stephanie, who was dating Nick, walked up beside her too. Mandie and Steph were both in the band, and so was Alyssa’s older sister Erica. The other band members weren’t that bad. It was just Alyssa. And I hated the fact that I had a strange attraction to her.
Walking up to the three girls I gave a fake smile and spoke in a mocking voice. "The only thing you are going to crush is the poor person who is under you when you fall off the stage." Alyssa glared at me. Mandie, Alyssa, and Steph turned away quickly, and I could’ve sworn I heard Alyssa whisper, “Am I that fat?”
"Great Job, Dummy. Not only did you ruin one girl’s self-esteem but you probably just ruined the plans I had with Mandie tonight because she is going to have to spend her time building up Alyssa’s confidence again!" Kevin said in a dejected voice.
“I’m sorry about your girl problems okay?” I said, then I thought. “Okay, that sounded incredibly wrong, but I didn’t mean it that way. My problem is that Alyssa is convinced that she, Mandie, Steph, and Erica are going to beat us in battle of the bands!” I exclaimed. “Erica? Isn’t that Alyssa’s older sister, who Garbo is going out with on Saturday after battle of the bands?” Kevin asked. “Yes, but that isn’t important. We have to beat them!” We walked past the auditorium as Nick walked up to us. We listened closely as we past. Just the S.A.M.E. was performing. I heard Alyssa singing, but it was only part of it.
“It started out just like another ordinary day, You walked away when I started to say hey, Why does it seem like your always ignoring me?, When in truth you just don’t see me, Just another Ordinary day, La la la, la la la la, la la la. Ordinary day….”
Alyssa saw us standing there and stopped singing. “HEY! GO AWAY JONAS!”
Kevin, Nick, and I broke for the door. “WAIT!” We all stuck our heads back in. “Kevin and Nick can stay.” Alyssa said. “Sorry, we can’t, we have to practice.” Kevin said. “WAIT AGAIN!” Mandie screamed into the microphone, making the sound bounce off the empty auditorium walls. Mandie ran down to Kevin. “Are we still going out tonight?” she asked. “Don’t you have to make Alyssa feel better?” Kevin asked. “No, she feels better, according to her.” Mandie replied. “Okay, well, I guess we’re still on then….” Kevin smiled at Mandie and she smiled back as they walked away.
Mandie walked up the stage as Erica walked in asking, “What happened to make you Kevin not go out tonight?” “Oh Joe was being an idiot and bumped Alyssa’s self esteem down a few points.” Stephanie said. I rolled my eyes as I continued down the hall.
“I told you, he didn’t bother me!” I exclaimed. “Oh yeah Lyss, that’s why you were all like, “Am I really that fat?” You know you like him; you just don’t want to admit it. And I know he likes you.” Mandie said. “I’ll only admit it if he does.” I said without thinking. Stephanie, Mandie, and Erica gasped. “DANG IT! See what you do to me Mandie!” I exclaimed. “You do like him!” Erica said. “Yeah….” I crossed my arms, trying to make it sound like it was no big deal, “So?” “So! SO?? This is the first guy you’ve liked in forever!” Erica exclaimed. “Okay, yes, that is true. But he’s such a jerk!” I exclaimed. “He’s only covering up feelings, trust me, it was the same with Garbo before we went out.” Erica exclaimed. “Okay, promise us you’ll tell him after Battle of The Bands?” Stephanie asked. “Okay, fine.” I linked pinkies with all three of them.
“Okay, I’ll tell her after Battle of The Bands.” I said. “If you chicken out, I’ll kill you.” Garbo said. “Thanks Garbo…..v-very reassuring.” I said as we began to practice.
On the night of Battle of The Bands, we peeked out behind the curtain. Tonight we were singing “Please Be Mine” Do you even have to guess who it’s for? We got out on stage, and surprisingly, I got little reaction from my bright red skinny jeans. We sang our hearts and did the best we could. I hope Alyssa listened to every word of it and took it in, hoping she would now know that I loved her. I don’t think she knew, because she didn’t say a thing to me. Just The S.A.M.E., Alyssa’s band now took the stage. They sang their song, “Ordinary Day.”
Alyssa began singing first as all of them faded into it.
“It started out just like another ordinary day
You walked away when I started to say hey
Why does it seem like your always ignoring me?
When in truth you just don’t see me.
Just another Ordinary day,
La la la, la la la la, la la la
Ordinary day,
Though we sit just a few seats away,
And I hear everything you say.
You’ll never know I dream of you all day,
But then again its just and ordinary day.
Just another Ordinary day,
La la la, la la la la, la la la
Ordinary day,
After school I sit and watch you play
Yes you rule, with that guitar up on stage
When you smile you take my breath away.
But you don’t know. Cause it’s just another ordinary day.
Just another Ordinary day,
La la la, la la la la, la la la
Ordinary day,
This is it graduation day,
Here we stand, face to face.
You ask me to take a picture of you and your girl.
But instead I kiss you and send your life in a twirl
Now you’ll you know who I am today.
Because today is no ordinary day.
Ordinary day,
La la la, la la la la, la la la
Ordinary day.”
She finished singing and the crowd went wild. I couldn’t blame them. The song was amazing, Mandie had written it. Mrs. Thompson, our principal came on stage. “Now, it was a close race, but we have the results. Coming in third place is…..Lana and Anna!” The crowd cheered as many girls in pink stood up and screamed. “And coming in second place is….as they call themselves, the Jonas Brothers!” Kevin, Nick, and I, with the rest of our band, walked up to the stage, taking the trophy. Alyssa was cheering, which was a surprise to me. Tonight, she looked beautiful. Her red hair was curly, and she was wearing an outfit to match Stephanie, Mandie, and Erica, black shirts that had song lyrics on the front and the name of the band on the back, all wearing a pair of skinny jeans and black flats. “And coming in first place is….Just The S.A.M.E.!” Everyone cheered loudly as the girls’ hopped up and hugged each other. They ran to the front, and walked up the stairs. They grabbed the trophy, yet it ended up where Alyssa was holding it as Mandie shared a passionate kiss with Kevin, Erica with Garbo, and Steph with Nick. I figured this was the right time. “Joe….I have something to say.” Alyssa said as I walked up to her. I looked into her eyes as she said, “I like…t-that song. It w-was amazing.” She said. I knew she wasn’t going to say that originally. “Alyssa, I have something to say too. I’ve always liked you. In fact, I think I love you.” I said. Alyssa stared. “I-I love you too.” I kissed her on the lips and Mandie, Erica, Steph, Nick, and Kevin cheered, along with the rest of the crowd.
So, yeah, I didn’t win Battle of The Bands. But, I won the heart of the girl I loved.
