They’d put on quite a show once more and Abel Shariden felt herself feeling giddy that she knew the Jonas Brothers. She always had these ‘thank goodness’ spouts; and even more- Kevin and her were totally in love. Helpless romantics. After every show, he’d run off and pick her up, to kiss her. They’d never really gone on a date either, but did that matter?
"Abel?" Kevin’s familiar voice broke through her chain of thought. The shouts of the crowd screamed ‘Encore, encore!’ but they were back here, laughing with Garbo and Frankie. Joe looked over, and smiled at her, and she grinned back. Life was brilliant, these days. Glancing over, she sighted Sarah Lorraine.
"‘ay babe." Abel placed her hand on Sarah’s shoulder, and Sarah smiled lightly, taking a sip of a water bottle on the table. The chime of a familiar ringtone blasted through backstage, still able to be heard among the screams of girls. Kevin blushed a bit, pressing the talk button and muttering a ‘Hello?’. Her thoughts were quickly changed to the chocolate strawberries, which Abel indulged in, delicately setting one on her tongue and throwing a few in Sarah’s direction. They laughed, beginning a strawberry fight, ultimately forgetting about the phone call.
"We’ll... be right over." A sullen voice choked, as Kevin grabbed his coat, forcing his brothers out the door. Sighting them, Abel and Sarah followed in pursuit, almost having to sprint to catch up with them. He slammed the car door, but Sarah caught it with her hand.
"Are you at least going to tell us where you’re going?" Abel asked, obviously concerned by the tears running down Kevin’s cheek. Nick looked confused.
"At least tell US?" He emphasized, meaning Joe and him.
"Mom’s dead. And it’s not by accident." He breathed and Joe paled, tears automatically flowing out of his eyes. Exchanging glances, Sarah and Abel swallowed hard, hopping into the car with them. They didn’t protest, only driving to the scene. Lights flashed, walkie-talkies loudly blurted out things they didn’t under stand, sirens went off, and people muttered as they walked by, pointing and pulling sad faces.
"MOM!" Joe screamed, collapsing to the ground, burying his face into his hands. Police helped him to his feet, trying to settle them as a young woman strode over, giving them curt nods.
"Jonas family? Agent Stallos and this is Amelia." She pointed to the girl next to her, who politely waved. Obviously, she might think they were wimpy to cry; but she’d never had her mother murdered, hm?
