Hey everyone! I posted this story once before under a different title, and kind of let it die. But recently a few people have been asking me to revive it, so I've decided to do just that. Instead of just giving you a link to the old thread though I've decided to repost the entire story just in case I want to add chapters or change some things around. I also want to see if I can get any new readers. So make sure you all comment and let me know what you think :) I love feedback :)
Thanks! ~Aimee~
Prologue
*Flashback 1993*
Aimee remembered her first day of kindergarten like it was yesterday. She could remember being so excited to wear her brand new black leggings and bright pink top, and carry her matching care bear lunchbox. Although, she was new to the town she wasn’t really nervous, and had practically ran into the building after her mother released her hand. Her heart raced as she put her stuff away in her assigned cubby and sat down at the desk labeled Aimee. She smiled at every kid who walked past her, but they didn’t acknowledge her in quite the same manner.
As the day proceeded on, her excitement faded. She didn’t make one friend that morning. In fact, no one even spoke to her unless they asked her to pass a crayon. Aimee could not figure out what she had done wrong. She had been friendly and always smiled when she handed over the crayons. Still no one had warmed up to her.
At lunch time, her teacher led them all to the cafeteria where Aimee sat alone at the end of the table. Pulling out her lunch she realized her mother had switched her lunch with her brothers, which often happened because her mother was too busy getting ready for the work in the morning to pay attention. Aimee tossed away the tuna fish sandwich looking disappointed and sipped unhappily from her bottled water.
“What’s wrong with your lunch?” A young boy Aimee recognized from class said sitting down next to her. In class he had been sitting across the room from her and he had been the only one to smile at her. He had curly black hair, and chubby cheeks. Looking back now at pictures from kindergarten Aimee realized what a cutie he had been, but when you are 5 you don’t really recognize things like that.
Aimee sighed, “My mom gave me my brother’s lunch and I don’t like tuna.”
“Oh well if you want we can share my peanut butter and jelly sandwich. My mom also packed me an extra box of animal crackers. You can have one also.”
“You like animal crackers?”
“Mmmhmmm.”
“Me too!” Aimee said excitedly, not really for the animal crackers, but excited she was actually making a friend. More importantly a friend that shared a common interest with her. “What’s your name?”
“Paul Kevin Jonas the second, but everyone calls me Kevin.”
“I’m Aimee Catherine Wright. Do you want to be my friend?”
“Sure!”
