9:00 PM.
“I have to leave,” he told her quietly, his eyes never meeting hers. For a moment, Mia thought her heart stopped beating. She couldn’t breathe. Her jaw dropped a little as she stood there, completely shocked. She leaned against the wall, as he stood there looking at the ground. Mia’s family tried listening in on their conversation from the living room as the couple stood in the hallway.
“No,” she shook her head. She couldn’t express how she felt inside. Her heart broke as he told her those four simple words. “Why are you leaving?” she finally asked him.
“I have to leave for tour,” he finally looked up at her, their eyes locking instantly.
“When are you leaving?” she asked him, looking him in the eyes.
“Tomorrow morning,” he sadly told her.
Once again, she felt like her heart was being ripped out of her body. She looked away from him, not wanting him to see the tears filling up in her eyes. “You can’t just leave!” she yelled at him, out of anger. “I thought, out of all people, you’d understand!” he yelled back at her. She finally looked up, not bothering to wipe the tears going down her cheeks, “I guess I just don’t understand then.”
He moved his hand up towards her face to wipe the tears away, but she turned her head away. “Just leave now,” she told him, still looking away. He sighed audibly and stepped closer to her. He grabbed her by the waist and made her look at him. He closed all the space between them and leaned into her, “I have to do this.” He angrily told her, “You knew from the start of our relationship that I needed someone that could deal with my schedule.”
They looked into each other’s eyes for a couple seconds, then Mia moved away from him, pushing him slightly, “I can’t just pretend that I’m okay with it, Joseph! If you really thought that I was going to be okay with it, then we obviously don’t know each other at all.” She watched as he ran a hand through his soft, black hair and turn away from her.
Out of frustration, he hit the wall in front of him and quickly turned back to her. “I have fans that I need to think of. I can’t just think about us. They’re the people who made us who we are today!” he yelled at her. She looked down and thought for a moment then looked back at him and said, “Fine. If that’s all that matters to you, then walk out that door and never come back.” She placed her left hand on her hip and stood her ground.
He looked her, analyzing every inch of her face. Then nodded his head and said, “Okay.” He leaned back a little and turned to walk towards the door. And that’s all it took. Mia’s heart broke apart in two million pieces. She watched him as he walked towards her door, without even looking back at her. She gasped, finding it hard to breathe again, as more and more tears ran down her cheeks.
His hand reached the handle to the door. But before he pulled it open, he stood there for a second. He then turned his head around to see her still leaning against the wall of the hallway, watching him intently. He sighed and quickly turned on his heel, walking over to her.
It all happened so fast, she didn’t even know what was happening. He placed his hand around her neck and his arm around her, pulling her against him, for the second time that night. He pressed his lips against hers, harshly but passionately. She immediately grabbed onto his shirt, and pulled him as close as possible to her. They put all of their love into that one kiss.
He pulled away and looked at her, sadly. Then, without a single word, he released her from his grip and moved away. He tripped over his feet, but regained his balance as he walked back toward the door again. He opened the door and stepped out, closing it behind him as he left.
Mia closed her eyes and more hot tears fell down from her hazel eyes. She slid down the wall and fell onto the ground. She pulled her knees to her chest and sat there, crying. “Mia! What happened?” she heard from the end of the hallway. Mia didn’t look up, knowing that her sister was running down the long hallway. Isabella came to a stop in front of Mia and kneeled down. “He left,” Mia choked out, slowly looking up at the door.
