Chapter 7
[In-N-OUT OUT OUT!]
“Then she sat on the ball!” said Regis.
I started fake laughing. How could anyone find that funny? Kelly (Regis’s co-star must have been thinking the same thing because her laugh was as fake as Amber.
“So Haley,” Kelly said turning to me, “Zac. Give us the inside scoop, is anything going on there?”
“Me and Zac are just great friends, and I don’t think we could ever be anything more. But its funny to see the paparazzi take a picture of us together and run with it” I said in a totally fake interviewing voice. Even though hated it when people were fake it was different this time, this was my job, and this was how I had to act.
“So is there anyone else special in your life right now?” Regis asked.
“Other than my beloved German shepherd, no. I’m living the single life, and fine with it.” I answered.
Once the show was done I walked offstage to find a surprise. Nick was running at me about to wrap me in a big hug. It was kinda weird since I just met these guys yesterday but I guess they were just really nice.
“Nick, Joe, Kevin. What are you doing here?” I asked surprised.
“Well if you don’t want us here…..” Kevin said jokingly.
“Of course I want you here!” I said.
“You were really good on the interview” Nick remarked.
“Yea, but why did you lie, there is someone special in your life…. ME” Joe yelled. I smiled trying to hold back laughter.
“Okay…..” Kevin said. “So do you want to go get a bite to eat?” Kevin asked, since it was almost noon.
“Yeah, I’m starving” I said.
We all piled in the car with Kevin driving Joe in shotgun and me and Nick in the back. It was weird how naturally comfortable I was with these guys I just met.
“So, where do you want to eat?” Kevin asked.
“Wherever,” I replied.
“Limited Too!” Joe shouted.
“Ha-ha very funny, now seriously.” Kevin said
“How about In-N-Out?” Nick suggested.
“Yea. I love In-N-Out!” I agreed.
Once we got there the guy all put on hats and sunglasses; leaving me wondering what was going on.
“You know we’re not gonna rob the place, right?” I asked them.
They looked at me and laughed. “Of course” Joe smiled. Wow he had a great smil---WHAT!?! What was I saying? He’s gonna be my roommate and we’re just friends. Shaking that off, I followed the guys into the “restaurant”. It was really crowded inside with a lot of teenagers, which didn’t surprise me because it was the middle of summer.
“Haley what do you want?” Kevin asked “We’re buying.”
“No, you’re not. I can take care of myself.” I said back to him.
“No one said that you couldn’t, but it’s our treat, all you have to do is save us a table.” Nick said sweetly. I smiled at these words then gave them my order and left to go save a table.
Once the boys had the food they were looking to see where I was. I was sitting down and noticed that their eyes kept glazing right over me. So, I stood up and yelled, “Hey guys! Over here!” The second I did this I instantly regretted it. Every teenager in the place looked over to me.
“IT’S HALEY SMITH!!!!!!”
