It only took about a week till Dani and Des wouldn’t stop bugging me about going to see Frankie. “Marni, we want to play with Frankie.” They would double-team me, “Uhggg. Fine let me see where they are and MAYBE we can go see them.” Truthfully was definitely Joasing for some Joe time.
I checked their Myspace page to see where they were playing tonight. Great, Maryland. I can’t make it to Maryland tonight. That would be impossible. “Dani, Des. No luck. They are in Maryland tonight, even if we left right now, we would never make it. Sorry.” They both gave me puppy dogfaces and when I said “NO.” firmly they walked away with pouty looks. Oh well, maybe next weekend.
This went on for a while. I called Joe a few times, but he was always busy with tour stuff so he never really got the chance to talk, well except for at three AM, which was not a good time for me, as I liked my sleep.
This happened just about every weekend; they were always doing a show somewhere that was impossible to travel to, especially just to hang out for a few hours.
Before I knew it, it was April vacation.
“GABBY!!! NAT!!!” I screamed running through the halls.
“Marni!!!” they screamed together.
I finally caught up with them. “So, what are your vacation plans?” I asked. We hadn’t talked about vacation plans; we actually hadn’t talked that much in the past month.
It was the last leg of our senior year and teachers were springing paper upon paper upon test upon quiz on us, so we were booked solid studying and writing papers.
“Well, I was supposd to go camping with my dad, but if I know him, he’s going to cancel, like always. So nothing.” Gabby smiled, “Why?”
I looked at Nat, “You?” she smiled, “I never had plans in the first place, why? What are you planning?” I knew I had a mischevious look on my face.
“ROAD TRIP!!!” I screamed.
“Road Trip? Where?” Gabby asked, and Nat nodded.
“Well to be more precise, I was thinking Jonas Road Trip. For a week. It could be fun. I mean hang out with our best guys.” I was grinning from ear to ear.
The looks on their faces said nothing but ‘HELLZ YEAH!’
“Sweet, so it’s settled. We’ll hop in my car tomorrow morning, or tonight, and head off to catch up with them. I am so going to call Joe! Oh, and go pack.” I waved and headed out to my car. I called Joe on the way.
“Hey.” He answered the phone.
“HI!” I was so excited.
“Uh, Marni, I’m really sorry, but I’m kind of busy right now. Can I call you back?” he was always busy.
“No Joe this will only take a few minutes.” I practically screamed.
“OK, so make it quick.” He wasn’t really paying attention to me, and I could tell his mind was on other things.
“Joe, pay attention to me. Please this is important.”
“Kay, full attention on Marni.” He said seriously.
“OK, so I’m coming on a road trip… to see YOU! We’re leaving tomorrow and going to meet up with you at the next arena, in New Jersey. Oh I’m bringing Nat and Gabby. Oh and Dani and Des b/c they have been bugging me to hang with Frankie for a month.” I got it all out in one breath.
“Oh, uh, Ok. Sound’s good Marni. I’ll see you then I guess. But right now I really have to go. Sorry. I love you!” he didn’t even give me the chance to say bye, he just hung up.
Hummm… something’s up with that guy. He can’t be over me, not yet. It’s only been a month since he’s seen me.
I drove home and started packing. I managed to only bring the necessities, I didn’t want a huge bag full of clothes I didn’t need. Plus if need be I could always buy something. As soon as Des and Dani got home I told them what we were doing.
They were so excited. First thing they did was run to their room and pack their bags. Myra thought I was crazy; I was, crazy for Joe.
