Author's Note: this chapter is like, short, but uber tense. I'm sorry for the long wait, but i hope you guys like it! ENJOY! XD

Chapter 3
The look in my dad’s eyes frightened me. No matter how stressed out he got during harvesting season, no matter how drunk he ever got, no matter how mad he got at me, his eyes had never looked so red.
My dad wiped away tears that had fallen from his eyes, stood up, and went to the front desk where there was a lady wearing glasses that was looking at us questioningly. My dad sniffed his nose and said, “We are leaving now.”
The four-eyed lady nodded her head, turned to her computer, typed something, then turned back to us and said, “You may leave now.”, as she gave us a cheesy, “I-really-don’t-want-to-be-here-right-now.”, look.
I was still confused about what was going on as I followed my dad to his old, red, pick-up truck.
I crawled into the passenger seat as I watched him walk around to the driver’s seat. When he got in, he put the car into reverse, pulled out of the parking lot, put the truck in drive, and pulled away.
“Dad, what is going on?” I asked him with a nervous voice. He replied with a sniff of his nose, and his lips quivering.
“Dad! What is going on?” I asked again, this time with a little more force in my voice. Yet, I still didn’t get an answer.
I decided to shut up until we got on the highway. By then, I couldn’t take it longer.
“DAD! WHERE ARE WE GOING, AND WHAT IS WRONG?!” I yelled at him.
He quickly slammed on his brakes, causing the truck to swerve to the side of the highway.
“YOUR MOTHER IS DEAD!” he yelled back at me.
I caught my breath, immediately regretting my previous fit, laid my head in my hands…
And cried.
