So I had an inspiration when I was listening to the song “FENCES” by PARAMORE. Its kinda random. Tell me what you think.
If you don’t know the song, go here and listen to it.
Trust me, it will make the story much better.
And it’s a rad song.
I walked out to the wing of the stage.
I cannot believe that I had to do this show. I swear if this wasn’t the Kiss FM Wango Tango, I would be on the other side of the country, 3,000 miles away from that stupid, ignorant, self centered, Joe Jonas.
Now I used to love Joe. But when you walk in on your boyfriend of 8 months kissing his ex girlfriend, that love turns to hate, and leave the tour, and have your friend casually mention to the tabloids that YOU were the one to break up with HIM because HE cheated. Yea, paybacks a bittch.
Ryan Secrest was out on the stage and had just said my name, cueing me to come out.
I walked out to the center of the arena, in front of tens of thousands of people.
“How’s everyone doing tonight?!?” I yelled.
My fans screamed back to me in excitement.
“Sounds like you guys are doing pretty good!” I said, putting on a fake smile.
I looked off to the wing to see him standing there.
Joe and a couple of his “bad ass” friends were talking and trying to look cool. Well news flash to them: THEY’RE NOT! I mean honestly, just build a bridge and get over yourself buddy!
He looked up at me and smiled cocckily. Then raised his eyebrows as if saying “Come on, show me what you’ve got.”
This show was an unspoken rivalry. And the reviews would declare the winner.
I smiled back at him wickedly. It was time for me to get everything off of my chest.
Turning back to the audience, I raised my microphone back to my lips and said, “Well I don’t know about you guys, but I love surprises.”
The crowed cheered.
“So, for this first song, I am going to ask a very special friend of mine to join me onstage,” I said.
All the stage hands were looking at me like I was crazy. They had no clue what I was doing.
“Joseph Jonas, come on down!” I said in a Bob Barker voice.
Joe’s face was priceless. He looked like he had just seen a ghost. And after a few seconds he fumbled his way onstage.
“What the hell do you think you are doing?” Joe asked when he got to me.
I handed him a second microphone. “Just try to keep up, rocker boy.”
He did a fake smile to the crowd and then turned to me. “Haley, we need to talk.”
I laughed. “Oh, no. I have nothing to say to you.”
The band started to play and I felt the music fill me up. There was no way Joe was going to show me up on this song. I wrote it about him after we broke up. I had been dying to sing it to him. And this was my chance.
I started to sing.
“I'm sitting in a room
Made up of only big white walls
And in the halls
There are people looking through
The win.. the window
Though they know exactly what we're here for
Don't look up just let them think
There's no place else you'd rather be”
I looked over to Joe. He tried to join in, but lets just say, he failed.
You're always on display
For everyone to watch and learn from
I walked over to him and rested my hand on his shoulder, pressing my body against his. I bit my lip.
Don't you know by now
You can't turn back
Because this road is all you'll ever have
I moved my face only inches away from his, trying to be a little seductive. I smiled and saw him start to move closer to me. I istantly shoved him off of me, pushing him a couple feet away.
It's obvious that you're dying, dying
Just living proof that the camera's lying
And oh oh open wide
Cause this is your night so smile
Cause you'll go out in style
You'll go out in style
Up until this point, Joe hadn’t sung a single word, but he surprised me, and belted out the next part.
If you let me I could
I'd show you how to build your fences
Set restrictions
Separate from the world
The constant battle that you hate to fight
Just blame the limelight
I walked over to him and started singing the next part.
Don't look up just let them think
There's no place else you'd rather be in now
My voice became soft for the next line. I reached my hand up and ran my fingers through Joe’s dark hair, looking him deep in the eyes and singing just to him. We had totally forgotten about the thousands of fans. To us, we were the only ones in the whole ampitheater.
You can't turn back
Because this road is all you'll ever have
Joe smiled to me. His beautiful, heart-melting smile. I shook my head. The smiled faded from his face and his eyes filled with sadness. He took one of my hands in his. And sang to me.
It's obvious that you're dying, dying
Just living proof that the camera's lying
And oh oh open wide
This is your night so smile
I looked into Joe’s eyes and raised my mic up to my mouth to sing, but no words came out. All the hate, all the anger, all the disgust; it was gone.
I looked out to the fans. I put my microphone to my lips. “I… I’m sorry,” I said, and then ran off the stage.
