Chapter 2
*Lexi’s POV*
I couldn’t believe how close we were. It was like something out of a dream. It was a few songs into the concert when I noticed Nick kept looking in our direction. It looked like he was staring at someone near us. “Al, switch spots with me real quick.” I asked. She looked at me like I was nuts, “What?! NO!” I pulled her shirt, moving her with it, “Just do it!” After the song it became obvious. I looked at her, “Nick is staring at you!” All she did was laugh, “Yeah, and Joe is dating Marni.” “Al, I’m being serious!”
She still didn’t believe me. I texted Spencer: Nick is staring at Al. She quickly texted back: Yeah, sure he is! Why was no one believing me? Was I even sure of what I saw?
*Nick’s POV*
We came out and I saw her. This girl, she wasn’t like the rest. She was dressed to kill, more beautiful than anything I have ever seen before. Her smile was amazing. I knew I had to meet her. I locked eyes with her, and for the first time in a few years, I was a nervous wreck. So nervous that I dropped my guitar pick. Crap.
I pulled one off my mic stand and continued. The things that this girl did to me were unexplainable. I ran backstage during the intermission and grabbed Megan, “Hey look I need you to do me a favor. There’s a girl in the audience I wanna meet. She’s wearing a pink top, medium length hair, kinda curly. 8th row on my side, seat 4 or 5 I think I counted. Will you do this for me?” She smirked, “I’ll try my best.”
Joe ran over laughing, Kevin not far behind, “Dude you’re crushing already?” Busted. “I wouldn’t call it a crush man. I’d call it love at first sight.” Kevin looked at me, “You’ve got to show her to us when we go back out there.” I blurted out, “Oh no you don’t, I saw her first. Back off.” For some reason I was becoming very territorial over this girl, I wanted no one else to have her. Joe tried to calm me down, “Nick, she’s all yours. We just wanted to see what she looks like.” I nodded back, “Alright, when we go back out you and Kevin can come over to my side, and I’ll casually point to her.” “Sounds good man” he responded heading towards the stage.
We walked back out on stage and my stomach tied itself in a million knots. I immersed myself in everything about her. I memorized her like a song. What she was wearing, where she was sitting, how she seemed oblivious to all the screaming girls around her. She was taking pictures, so I made it a point to look at her when she took one of me.
Finally we began to play “Burnin’ Up”. During the bridge I sang to her, Kevin and Joe had made their way over to me. Joe threw his arm around me as I sang, “Walk in the room, all I can see is you…” and I pointed right at her and shot her a smile. I looked at Joe afterwards, he smiled and mouthed the word, “Nice”. Kevin glanced at me and nodded approvingly.
*Ali’s POV*
I refused to believe anything that Lexi had said. There were thousands of girls here thinking the same thing she was. The girl next to me was going crazy, I thought I was bad… I was nothing compared to her. Singing at the top of her lungs during every song, bouncing up and down, it was getting annoying.
I pulled out my camera and took some pictures. About halfway through their new song, all three brothers were standing on Nick’s side, right in front of us. I zoomed in as Nick sang, “Walk in the room, all I can see is you…” and he pointed in my general direction, smiling. Joe then glanced our way, followed by Kevin. Weird. Then it clicked… They noticed the psycho girl next to me. That explained everything.
After the song Lexi nudged me, “Nick totally pointed at you!” I screamed in her ear, “He was looking at crazy girl to my right.” She chuckled before continuing, “No my dear, He was staring at you.” She could believe what she wanted, I knew the truth. Or so I thought.
The concert ended and a girl had made her way over to us. She was carrying a clipboard and had on a headset. She quickly glanced at me and Lexi questioningly before turning to maniac girl next to me, “I’m sorry to bother you, but Nick has requested that he meet you. If you could follow me please.” She squealed, “Are you serious?” The young woman looked surprised, “Yes I am, your name sweetie?” The girl smiled following behind her, “Katie”. “Ok, Katie please follow me.”
I looked wide-eyed at Lexi, “No way.” She looked back at me angrily, “That was supposed to be YOU.” I rolled my eyes, “Yeah ok.” We proceeded to walk up the steps and met up with Marni and Spencer, “Let’s go guys. My house. We can look at our pictures.” We walked to the parking lot, piled into the two cars we had driven and left the venue behind. After months of waiting, my perfect night finally came and ended, leaving me speechless.
*Nick’s POV*
I was so nervous after the concert about meeting this girl that I was pacing. Joe and Kevin noticed and tried to comfort my nerves, “Dude sit down before you give yourself a panic attack.” Kevin spoke up, “He’s right Nick. Calm down, she’s just a girl. You’ve done this plenty of times.” But I couldn’t explain to them that she wasn’t JUST A GIRL, she was THE GIRL. I began to grip the water bottle in my hands so tightly that I began to crush it. There was a knock at the door and Megan walked in, “Nick, someone to see you.” I looked up at the girl and my heart sank. Something had gone terribly wrong.
