Chapter Three:
So that was the start of a wonderful friendship. Skyla taught me everything she knew, from pickpoketing to scamming people. Though at times it was close we never got caught, I learned more about her and a lot more about what happened.
How there was a virus, a virus that nearly wipped out the human race. How for over a year people just kept dying. How the goverment was corrupt, they imprisioned people and nearly killed what people were left. Then how the emperor came, he wasn't the emperor then just a boy named Nick Jonas, a rockstar. The entire time people were dying he wasn't here. People just assumed he was with the first to go. But he wasn't, he was with this proffesor and had found a cure.
He came at first with peace and life. He brought hope to this miserable world. He was like an angel sent from God. But after he helped cure the people the appointed him leader. He began this caste system. Forcing taxes that people couldn't afford. He wasn't an emperor he was a dictator.
Though people weren't dying as much, they still were living in poverty.
He used this cure, for power. Now that he is up there people still are living this lie how he is an amazing person. When he isn't.
I couldn't understand how someone who brought so much hope and peace could be so awful.
Skylar and I were planning something, something big.
We were going to do the biggest crime yet, we were going to break into a High class house and steal those pricey items then sell them.
We never did something so dangerous, if we got caught we could be sent to prison for life. Most people didn't survive there for more then a few months. You had no sunlight, little food and was living with the rats. But if we pulled this off, and played are cards right we would never have to steal again.
We would be set, for life.
"Campbell, are you sure your ready for this?" Skylar asked worriedly, putting her hand on my shoulder.
"Of course, there is no way I am getting cold feet now." I responded, suprisingly I sounded brave.
Ha, that was a joke. But hanging around Skylar, I had learned to lie pretty well. Which was convenient when it came to scamming people.
"Okay, then lets do it." She said excitedly, she really was looking forward to it. She loved the rush of stealing things, I dreaded it. If there was another way to survive and have food in my belly I would probably do it
