True Love Is Hard To Find
Ashley looked to her left and found the sickening sight of two of her best friends making out. Looking to the right wasn’t better though because that also held to of her friends making out. She gagged violently before standing up, leaving the couples to their business, and leaving the movie theater. It hadn’t been her idea to invite their others but the two had insisted, claiming that they never get to spend any time with them. She supposed she should be happy for them, they had found true love, and as she knew true love is hard to find. She thinks it started back when she was seven and had dated a boy named Joe because she was forced into it by her older sister who was ‘dating’ his brother.
“Ashley just do it! Mom says that I have to take you with me. Besides Joe’s not that bad,” Melissa had scowled.
“But I don’t wanna date Joe,” Ashley said her lower lip pouting out as far as it would go.
“Just do it for me. You know Joe’s Adam’s twin,” Melissa stated matter so factly.
“Melissa he’s 12 I don’t like boys. He’s icky,” Ashley frowned.
“Just do it,” Melissa said shoving Ashley at the tall brown haired boy she was supposed to ‘date’.
That was the day that Joe learned that Ashley really didn’t like him. But they kept dating until Melissa and Adam broke up cause if they didn’t Melissa would have had a fit.
Her green eyes scanned the lobby and stopped on a cute curly haired boy. He had to be a few years younger than her but he looked adorable, and lost. He spotted her staring at him and blushed before walking over to her a small smile on his face. His smile thought wasn’t a normal showing teeth grin it was a cute I’m shy smile, his lips curving up slightly.
“Hey… So I’m lost… do you know where theater 6 is,” he asks scratching his brunette locks?
“Yea it’s right down there. Actually I was just going back in there to find a seat away from my friends,” Ashley laughed softly.
“Away from your friends,” he asks as they walk down the hallway?
“They were grossing me out. Seeing as they brought their lovers and were just making out with them the whole time,” Ashley replies.
“Oh and you’re boyfriend couldn’t make it,” he asks as they stand outside the door?
“I don’t have much luck with boys,” Ashley answers.
They walk through the doors into the quiet theater and look around. Suddenly he jumps from next to her and she feels a hand on her shoulder. Ashley just rolls her eyes and turns to look at whoever was behind her. But she doesn’t know who it is, he is tall and tan with straight black hair standing next to a medium height brunette girl, who also is very tan, making Ashley slightly jealous. The boy is the one who has his hand on her shoulder and Ashley removes it with a little look at the curly haired boy. He is whispering furiously at the girl who is trying not to laugh at everything he says.
“Hi I’m Joe. How did you meet curly sue over there,” the tan boy asks?
“SSSHHH!”
“The lobby,” Ashley replies before finding an empty row and sitting down in the seat furthest right.
They all sit in the row, the curly haired boy closes to Ashley and soon they are joined by another boy who has semi curly hair and a medium height brunette girl who is smiling and popping gum. They watch the movie in peace and when it’s over Joe starts to talk again.
“Hey I never got your name and I told you mine oh and this is Stephani,” Joe says.
“With an I,” Stephani cuts in causing Ashley to raise an eyebrow.
“I’m Ashley with a y,” she says.
“Cool. So how did you meet our little Nicholas,” Stephani teases pinching his cheeks.
Nicholas blushes furiously and then turns to her.
“Nick. Thanks for helping me,” he mumbles.
“No prob bob,” Ashley cheeks.
“Ash where did you run off too! You just left in the middle of the movie,” a familiar voice says.
“Surprised you noticed Adam,” she replies.
Yes Adam as in the boy her sister had dated when she was seven. She was also still really close with Joe. Adam was there with his girlfriend, who had just went away to college, Meagan and her other friend Chelsie was there with her boyfriend of three years Braden.
“Of course I noticed Ash! What kind of friend would I be if I didn’t,” Adam frowns?
“The kind who makes out with his girlfriend the whole time while I’m sitting right there,” Ashley grins.
Adam blushes and then looks at the group that his friend is with.
“Well Ashley I’m sorry that I did that. You know I love you. So we’re gonna go. See you tomorrow,” Adam says leaving her with them.
Ashley watches him leave Meagan, Chelsie and Braden in tow leaving her with the five people she just met.
“I’m Kevin and this is Heather,” the last boy says pointing to the girl next to him.
“Pleasure,” Ashley croons looking them over.
