Chapter 2:
“Demi!!!” I heard a loud shriek coming from downstairs.
Yes! Amanda is here! My best friend was coming over and we were going to have a girl’s night, just her and I. “I’m up here!” I yelled back. I heard loud bangs hitting the stairs and a few quick steps until I saw her in my doorway. “AMANDA!” I ran giving her a hug.
“Demi, hey! I am so excited about our little girl’s night. Popcorn, romantic, sappy, love movies, The whole she-bang!”
“I know, me too!” We immediately started our girl’s night since it was already getting to be 9:30. We went down stairs to get pop some popcorn, cokes, and snacks since we were immediately going to start the movie marathon. Nothing was going to stop us! Until, Daniel came home.
“Hey Mommy, Demi, I am home!” My heart stopped. Man, Daniel ruins everything. He is going to want to claim the living room all to himself. I sat as I watched him slowly come into the kitchen, guitar in hand. “Hey, Demi..Mandy”
“Hey” We both said in unison. “Hey we are going to watch some movies in the living room, girl’s night. You know how we do it.” I stated laughing a little at the last statement. I sat there as I waited for the smile on his face to turn into a frown. It didn’t. “Aren’t you going to yell at me and tell me that you get the living room since you work sooooo hardd and all?” I added a little grumpy baby talk to the end of my sentence.
“Oh, No. It’s all yours.” Wow, that’s a shocker.
“Aren’t you and Joe going to have a wrestling match and watch sports and eat Buffalo wings and all that junk? You know the stuff you do every time Joe is in town?” I was starting to get worried. This was a tradition between them since they were old enough to eat the ‘atomic’ wings at Wing Stop. I never joined, because first of all its boys night. Secondly, anything that has to do with Joe, I tried to stay away from.
“Nope, he said he was busy and that he was going to come over tomorrow.” Hmmm...? When is Joe ever busy? He barley has any friends other than Daniel. Ok, he has friends, I just like to believe he doesn’t have any…you know…just because.
“Oh…Ok.” Amanda and I walked into the living room with drinks in hand and popped in the first movie, Sleepless in Seattle, leaving Daniel in the kitchen, alone. Classic. We continued watching movies including Pride and Prejudice and Atonement. Amanda was completely asleep and I was getting there. My eyes slowly losing power to keep them open. I was trying with all my power to stay up, just to finish the last movie. But, it was impossible. My eyes were finally completely closing. But, before I could completely lose myself in a dream-filled sleep, I heard a slight knock on the door. Oh my God, it is like 4 in the morning. I slowly walked towards the door, creeping around corners to make sure I wasn’t seen by the potential robber. I finally made it to the door, peaking through the window, I saw a faint shadow against the door.
“Joe?” I said out loud as I started to unlock the door
