Ok so I was in the middle of thinking of new ideas for the next chapter of Flipside when I just thought of an idea. This is my first one shot so don't get mad at me if it is bad. I hope you enjoy!
Nick's P.O.V.
I sat under the bright summer sky, gazing at the clouds and how they formed different shapes and sizes. Looking at the sky had always been one of my favorite things to do, and I always thought it was the most beautiful and amazing thing I would ever look at, but then I looked right next to me and noticed my opinion might change.
Laying right beside me was Kayla Cole. KC for short. Her blond hair spread throughout the grass and her blue eyes were brighter than the exact sky I was looking at. She must have noticed that I was staring at her because she looked right at me. She smiled and let her absolutely perfect teeth show. We just lay there for a minute staring at each other, until we burst out laughing. I could always laugh with her around even if nothing was funny.
We were both in the middle of just letting go and laughing our heads off when I heard KC shriek, and we were both getting covered in water. The sprinklers had turned on. We got up and attempted to run away but more and more water just continued to spray us. We finally gave up and decided to just sit back on the grass. Kayla looked at me.
“You know, you're the only one I can stand to be around with for more than ten minutes. Even Joe gets tiring to be around,” she said, smiling. I laughed.
“Yeah, I know what you mean. Joe can get a little weird sometimes,” I told her. She gave me the look that told me to get real.
“A little?” She asked. We both smiled. KC looked back up at the sky. “I wish we could just stay here forever, you know? Just you and me staring up at the sky. It would be perfect. No more of you going on tour. No more of not seeing you for months. No more craziness.”
“That does sound perfect,” I said also staring at the sky now. We sat for moments, precious moments that I wished would never leave, until a sound interrupted the peaceful silence. Kayla looked at her pocket.
“Sorry,” she said as she took out her phone. “Oh, its my mom. I guess we should head home now. Is that OK with you?” She looked at me and I got caught in her eyes.
“Nick?” She said suddenly.
“Oh, sure, we can go now,” I said. She smiled, got up, started walking, but then turned back at me.
“Are you coming?”
“Yeah,” I replied. I got up off of the grass, and just stood for a second thinking. I'm in love with my best friend, but don't tell anyone.
