The Birthday To Remember
Her twenty first birthday was right around the corner and she was as excited as she could be. Her eyes shinned as she looked in the store windows trying to figure out what to ask her parents for, she didn't really have anything she wanted but she knew that they would ask her anyways. The bracelets were gorgeous in that store, the dress right there was beautiful, and those shoes were to die for. But she could get them all if she wanted to with ease. She sighed as she continued to walk down the streets looking for exactly what she wanted to get for her birthday. Her eyes stopped on a group of three boys all covered to the best of their ability, with hats, shades, jackets and scarfs, despite it being rather nice outside. She didn't know them, if she was any other girl in the world she would, but she didn't. All she knew was she had found her birthday present. She snapped a picture of the boys as they walked past and one sighed causing her to frown slightly as she sent it to her mom and dad with a little message.
I want the one in the middle.
They thought she was kidding at first, that she had just sent them a picture of some of her friends and she didn't really mean it. It wasn't until she went home that night and told them she was serious did they even think of looking for that boy. It hadn't taken them long though to find him, his face was on every channel, plastered in multiple magazines, even the newspaper. They called and tried to make plans to get him there for her birthday but it didn't look like it was going to happen. And then her birthday came and she expected a gorgeous brunette boy to be there when she woke up, yet he wasn't. Her day was spent pouting softly as she gave her parents looks because they had known exactly what she had wanted and they hadn't tried to get it for her, that's how it seemed at least to her.
The pout on her face stayed through the time that her party started. She was thrilled by everyone that was there for her, the presents they brought and the effort that was put into it. She was acting spoiled and she knew it but she felt it was her birthday and she had a right to do just that, well only a slight right. After a few minutes with her friends she forgot all about that boy she had seen and started to have fun just dancing and singing. Then came time for something she hadn't expected a live band, a band that her parents thought she would love.
Her eyes grew wide as she looked at the three boys on stage, the same three boys who just days before had grumbled when she took their picture. Her smile grew as she looked up at the boy standing right there singing his heart out to her. Then he called her on stage and wrapped his arm around her tightly smiling as she flushed slightly.
"So I don't know if any of you know this, but she asked her parents for me for her birthday," he says with a little grin.
"To be fair I didn't know you were in a band," she mumbles looking down at her friends.
"Well I am. I'm Joe it's nice to meet you Erin," he says hugging her tighter.
"You too Joe... Now stop embarrassing me!"
"But you look so cute with the flush in your cheeks," Joe mummers into her hair.
Erin smacks him in his muscular chest and frowns at him causing him to smile widely.
"So we're gonna sing Erin happy birthday," the little curly haired boy off to the side smiles.
"You're what twenty one now Erin that means you get a few extra words added to your song," Joe tells her.
Erin groans as she listens to the boys singing, the two other boys sing the song correctly but Joe adds in how she is old, but still pretty, and how she looks stunning, but could be a cougar. She rolls her eyes at him and sends his bandmates both looks causing them to shrug.
"Hey Erin guess what," Joe says after the song as he hands her backstage?
"What," Erin asks knowing it won't be any worse than anything else he's done?
"Want to go out to dinner with me tonight," Joe smiles?
"Joe it is tonight," Erin points out.
"Oh yea... um how about when your party ends want to get some food with me. Since I am your present," he teases.
"Fine."
She didn't want to seem to eager she was estatic to be going out with him but she didn't want to seem like some little fan girl. So she stayed as calm as she could and tried not to let him know how happy she was that he had asked her. It wsn't long though before she lost her calm exterior and started to freak out with her friends in the front of the stage, where he could plainly see her.
When the party ended she looked at the tall brunette boy who had asked her out and saw he was ready to go, a nice jacket over his nice clothing and a smile on his face. She smiled back and linked her arm with his as they made their way past her friends and family and into a limo. She was semi starstuck then realizing just how famous he must be, because her parent's hadn't even gotten her a limo. Her gaze went straight to his and he smiled at her as he lifted her hand in his own to his lips.
They were warmer than she expected and when he lowered her hand she could almost see where his lips had been. She grinned widely thoughtout their 'date' and even wider when he invited her out the next day. The feel of his lips on her hand stayed as his car drove away and Erin smiled to herself.
"Now this is a birthday to remember."
