Part LIV (54)
Nick’s POV
“Go talk to her” Joe whispered into my ear in a singy-song voice as I tried to take a nap on the couch.
“Go talk to her” he kept going “Go. You know you want to Nicholas Jerry. Go”
I rolled over on my side. “No” I groaned. “I’m sleeping”
“Go talk to her. Sleep later. Go. Go” Joe kept whispering.
“You go. You go talk to her.” I mumbled.
“Okay, I’ll talk to her for you” Joe stood up.
“What?! No! Not you!” I sat up.
Joe laughed “And why not?”
“Because, you’ll embarrass me” I told me
Joe laughed again. “And why would I do that? How would I do that? Remember Nick, I like girls too. I know what’s going through your mind, I know what you’re going through” Joe said.
“Still, I don’t want you to talk to her. Mom’s going over there later because she and her friends have invited Samantha’s mom to join their bookclub and she wanted them to meet there tonight and so I may go with her” I said.
“Oh, uh, okay then…” Joe laughed.
“What’s up my brothers?” Kevin flipped on the TV.
“Dude, I’m sleeping” I told him as he surfed the channels.
“Uh, it sure doesn’t look like you are” Kevin told me.
“Well, I was, and I’m trying to again until Joe over here woke me up” I said.
“Well, if you’d just talk to Samantha, I wouldn’t have woken you up” Joe said.
“Wait, what does Samantha have to do with you waking Nick up?” Kevin asked.
“Everything” Joe said.
“What?” Kevin asked confused.
“Never mind” I said, lying back onto the couch.
“Seriously though, when are you going to just talk to her? Because you should ask her out…” Kevin started to tell me.
I sighed. “I am, I am!! I’m going over to her house with Mom tonight”
“What? Why is Mom going to their house?” Kevin asked.
“Bookclub. Mom and her friends asked Samantha’s mom if she wanted to join and she said yes, so then she wanted to meet at her house tonight and I’m going with Mom. I was invited, by the way” I said.
“Oh, that makes you Mr. Cool because you were invited” Joe said jokingly.
I kicked him. “Shut up. You’re just jealous”
“Jealous?! Of what?” Joe laughed.
“You know what” I said.
“Um, no, I don’t” Joe told me.
“Oh yeah you do. You know you do” I told him.
“I do?” Joe asked.
“Yeah, you do” I said, confusing him. It was always fun to do that.
“Uh, okay. I guess I know but I don’t know, huh?” Joe asked, trying to confuse me.
“Wait, what? You do know or you don’t know?” I asked, now confused by Joe’s one sentence.
“Uh, yeah, I know, I think. But do you know, or don’t you know?” Joe asked
“Know what? What don’t I know or do know?” I asked, really confused.
“You know what you know that you do or do not know” Joe said, really confusing me.
“What?” I asked, super confused.
“I’m the smart one, and I didn’t follow that” Kevin said.
“Oh yeah you did. You know you know what we’re talking about and you know you know that I know what I don’t know and Nick knows that I know what I know and don’t know and he knows that he knows what but doesn’t know” Joe said, totally confusing us both
“What?” Kevin and I asked at the same time.
“You know what” Joe said, even more confusingly.
“No we don’t know what. What?” Kevin asked.
“Oh stop Kevin. You know you know what I just said you know but you said you didn’t know. You know you do know it” Joe said.
“Okay, uh, we know what?” I asked
“You know Nick! Stop asking stupid questions you know. You’re acting like you don’t know when you know you know what you don’t know” Joe said, really, really confusing us.
“Uh, yeah, I know” I said, confused.
“No, you don’t know Nick. You don’t know what you think you know.” Joe said.
“What?” Kevin asked.
“You know” Joe said. {see authors note}
“Okay, I’m confused. I’m also taking a nap, so goodbye” I said, and got up and walked up the stairs towards my bedroom
Maybe I’d figure it out if I slept on it….
Author’s Note
I was totally confused writing that.
I wrote it, and I didn’t even follow Joe. But what I got from it, Joe apparently is confusing Kevin and Nick by saying that they know something that they don’t know which doesn’t make sense, as we all know. But, it’s confusing Nick and Kevin, which is Joe wanted. Why? Who knows. But they don’t actually know anything, because Joe is just confusing them, and there’s really nothing.
Nick actually started it by confusing Joe, which, I don’t know why he did….but he did. So Joe took it a step further by making it quite confusing.
So really, know one knew anything the other didn’t.
They were just confusing eachother.
Clearing things up there. (again, I didn’t totally follow it either when I first wrote/read it, but, reading it again, I do. But you don’t have to understand it, it’s not important…I think)
Part LV
Mia’s POV
Joe was very bad at giving information late notice.
I read over the email he’d just sent me.
Leaving tomorrow?! He was crazy.
But I was crazy about him. So I guess we were both crazy. In an awesome in love way.
To Joe:
From Mia:
My amazingly wonderful awesomely cool and super cute bf, Joe
You really need to tell a girl ahead of time when you’re planning on asking her (me) if she (me) wants to fly to NY with you for the weekend, when you’re leaving TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (exclamation points continue)
My mom says it’d be fine, but I have to be back by Monday. Graduation is THURSDAY. Remember that.
Joe, you seriously have to tell me before hand. Like, a while before hand. I actually did have plans this weekend, but I really want to come with you. Melody is fine with it, but still.
Just tell me, okay? It makes life easier for everyone.
So you’ve told people about me? Like who?
Glad to hear Nick is feeling better!! Make sure to give him my best, and tell him, Kevin, Frankie, and your parents I say hi!!
I can’t wait to meet Frank the tank tomorrow!! I was wondering, do you want to meet at 11 instead of noon? I think it’d be better.
Call me!
Love,
Your totally awesome amazing wonderfully cool and super hot (not to mention cute) gf, Mia. <3
I sent my email and closed my laptop.
“Hey daddy” I said, walking into our family room.
“Hey pumpkin” Dad said.
“Whatcha watching?” I asked.
“Deadliest Catch” he said.
That was one of my favorite shows. “Awesome! Is it new?”
“I haven’t seen it” Dad said.
“I don’t think I have either” I said, and curled up next to my dad on our sofa.
Nick’s POV
“Nick, are you ready?” Mom called up the stairs. We were getting ready to go over to Samantha’s house.
“Yeah, just a minute Mom!” I yelled.
Truth was, I wasn’t ready at all.
I was standing there in front of my closet in my boxers and a white t-shirt.
No, not ready, at all.
“I’m leaving in 10 minutes with or without you!” she yelled warningly.
“Okay!” I told her.
“Knock, knock” Joe and Kevin knocked on my door, letting themselves in.
“Um, sure doesn’t look like you’re ready” Kevin laughed.
“I’m not” I said, sitting down on my neatly made bed.
“Dude, you’re such a neat-freak. You have like a place for everything” Joe said, touching things on my dresser.
“I like things being in the right place. And there’s a place for everything. Don’t touch that” I said, as Joe messed and moved things on my dresser.
“Sorry” he said.
“So, what’s the problem Nick?” Kevin asked, also taking a seat on my bed.
I sighed. “I have no idea what to wear”
“I understand totally. You want to impress her, but look nice, be comfortable, but not to flashy. Casual, but classy” Kevin said.
“Exactly!” I said. I was so glad to have older brothers. They were awesome, especially when it came to girls.
“Where this” Joe said, pulling out a green and white striped shirt, red skinny jeans, and a blue jacket thing.
“You wore that in that photoshoot, right?” Kevin asked
I nodded. “Maybe just jeans though, not the red ones” I said
“Why not? You like these right?” Joe asked
“Yeah, I just don’t want to wear them” I said.
“Okay, how about these?” Joe said, pulling out a pair of black skinny jeans.
“No, I don’t think I want to wear that anymore at all. Not even the shirt” I said, changing my mind.
Joe groaned, and put the clothes back in the closet.
“How about this?” Kevin asked, pulling out just a t-shirt and a pair of blue skinny jeans.
“No” I said, making up my mind, as Kevin put those back in the closet.
6 outfits later, I finally chose 2.
One was a purplish shirt with a brown vest and black washed jeans, and white skinny jeans, a blue stripped button down shirt, and anther blue jacket.
“Wait! I know what I’ll wear!!” I said, jumping up off the bed.
“Oh, okay then” Joe laughed, stepping back
I pulled out a yellowish shirt (the one that I’d worn in a photoshoot that we did where we sat on some stairs) and put it with my black washed jeans.
“Huh?” I said, holding it up.
“Either that or the blue outfit” Kevin said.
“Nick! Hurry up!” Mom called.
“You better decide fast” Joe said.
I looked back and forth from outfit to outfit. The blue one seemed a bit extreme, but the yellow one seemed a bit to casual.
“What do you think?” I asked them.
Kevin sighed. “We’re not wearing it”
“I know! But, I can’t decide” I said.
“NICK!” Mom yelled again.
“Give him a minute!” Joe yelled.
“2 MINUTES!!” Mom yelled.
“Crap! Help me!” I begged.
“Okay, okay. Uh, where, the blue one” Joe said.
“No, wear the yellow one, it’s more casual” Kevin said.
“But the blue once is more classy” Joe said.
“The blue on would be more of a date wear or something. Yellow says ‘I’m playing it cool because I am. Casual but cool. I can chill’ and stuff like that” Kevin said.
“But the blue says ‘I have great taste and dress nicely. I can be casual, but I can also be presentable’ and things like that” Joe said.
“The yellow one is a ‘I’m a regular down to earth guy who can dress nicely and casually at the same time, without looking like trash’” Kevin said.
“Good point. I say go for the yellow” Joe changed his mind.
“So the yellow?” I asked
“Yes” they said at the same time, and left me to get dressed.
“NICHOLAS! ARE YOU COMING OR NOT?!” Mom yelled.
“Coming!” I said, putting on my other shoe and grabbing my cell phone.
“Ready?” she asked.
“Ready” I said.
Mom and I climbed in the car and started down the road.
“Who is it?” Mom asked as my phone went off, telling me I had a text message.
“Joe” I said, wondering why he was texting. Had I forgotten something?
To Nick:
From Joe:
Good luck!! Tell her we say hi!
~Joe & Kev
I smiled as I read their message.
“What?” Mom asked.
I shook my head. “Nothing”
To Joe and Kevin:
From Nick:
Thanx. I will. :)
They were the best brothers in the whole entire world.
“So, um, what book are you reading?” I asked, trying to make small talk with my mom.
“Oh, just this murder mystery thing.” Mom said.
I nodded. “What do you guys talk about?” I asked.
“The book” Mom laughed. “And other things, like, well, other things”
I nodded again. “Cool. So, what’s Samantha’s mom’s name?”
Mom laughed. “Ginny. And, uh, now I see why you really, really wanted to come. I had my thoughts, but now I’m sure”
“What? I don’t know what you’re talking about” I stuttered.
“You like Samantha, don’t you?” she asked.
I sighed. “Yeah, kinda”
“She’s a really sweet girl. I say go for it Nick. Really. I like her a lot.” Mom gave me her approval.
“Thanks Mom” I said.
So I had a cool Mom and brothers (and Dad!). Life was sweet.
Part LVI
Nick’s POV
“Hi Denise! Hi Nick!” Ginny opened the door, and we walked in.
“Hey Ginny!” Mom said.
“Uh, Nick, Samantha is around here somewhere, oh, there! Sam, come here” Ginny said, calling over her daughter.
My heart started beating faster. “Hey” she said, smiling.
“Hey” I smiled.
“So, uh, Sam, you can take Nick upstairs and watch a movie with the girls or something if you want. Make some popcorn, do whatever. We’ll be down, here, okay?” her mom told her.
“Okay Mom.” Sam said, and Ginny and Mom walked and joined some of the people who were already there.
“So” Sam said, rocking back and forth on her feet.
“So” I said, rocking on mine. Well, that was 2 words.
“Um, want to watch a movie or something?” she asked.
“Uh, sure. Sounds good” I said, and I followed her upstairs to her bedroom.
“Um, Nick, these are my sisters, Emily and Jordan.” She said.
“Hi” They said at the same time.
“My other sister is sleeping over at her friend’s house tonight.” She told me, and I nodded.
“Emily and Jordan, this is Nick” she said.
“Hi” I said.
“So, are we watching a movie?” Emily asked.
“Yeah, uh, what movies do you have?” I asked. I’d now said 13 words.
“We have everything” Jordan laughed.
“Uh, why don’t you two chose something, and me and Nick will go make some popcorn. Unless you want to stay up here. It’s our choice” Samantha told me.
“Um, I’ll go with you” I said. 18 words.
“Cool” Sam said, and I followed her out of her room.
“Is that your phone?” Sam asked as we walked down the hallway.
“Uh, yeah” I said, and my phone kept going off, telling me I had a text.
Joe, and Kevin I assumed, again
To Nick:
From Joe and Kevin:
How’s it going?
To Joe and Kevin:
From Nick:
Good. I’ve said like, 20 words now!! Lol. I’m about to go make some popcorn w/ her and I’ll talk 2 her then and we’re watching a movie w/ her sisters so yeah.
To Nick:
From Joe and Kevin:
Awesome! Rite On! Keep it up! I bet she likes u, I mean, what’s not 2 like!! :)
Text us and let us know how it’s going!!
“Who are you texting?” Sam asked.
“Oh, uh, my brothers. They needed to know where the remote was” I told her. I wasn’t going to say “Oh, they wanted to know if I had talked to you or not yet, and how it was going. I was planning on asking you out because I like you, so that’s what they wanted to know”
“Oh, cool. I like your shirt” She complimented me.
Oh yeah, good choice Nick. I thought, smiling. “Thanks. I like yours too.” I said
She blushed “Thanks”
“I like your smile and your eyes too” I said quietly.
Samantha giggled. “Really?” she asked.
I nodded. “Really”
“Thanks” she giggled.
There was an awkward silence. “So, uh, you’re from Jersey, right?” she asked.
“Yeah. I was born in Dallas, but we moved to Jersey when I was little, so I don’t really remember it much. Where are you from?” I asked.
“Uh, actually, I’ve lived in Texas and D.C., so both I guess.” She laughed “We’ve moved back and forth between them for a few years. But, we moved here from D.C. We’re permanently here though, at least, until I graduate” she told me. “My dad made his company promise that”
“Oh, cool” I said.
“Movie theater butter” she said, pulling out a bag of popcorn.
I laughed “The best kind!”
“You know it!” she laughed.
“This is going to sound weird, but do you have M&Ms?” I asked.
“Yeah. Wait, do you like M&Ms on your popcorn too?” she asked.
“Yes, I love it! My brothers think I’m so weird because of it, but I’m like, dudes, it’s good! The only one that believes me is Frankie because he likes it too!” I said.
“Same with my little sister! She’s always like ‘no! that’s gross!’ and I’m like, Leslie, it’s good! Try it” She told me.
“I know!” I agreed.
“We have a lot in common” Samantha said, putting the popcorn in the microwave.
“Yeah, we do” I said, as she walked over to me.
“A lot in common” I said slowly.
“A whole lot in common” she said slowly.
I leaned into her, and she leaned into me. I felt her breath on my face, and I knew she could feel mine.
Will Nicholas and Samantha kiss? Or will the be interrupted by constant texts from Joe and Kevin? Or will the parents walk in on them? Or maybe the sisters? Who will end up with the most crab on Deadliest Catch? {okay, maybe that last one didn't really have to do with anything, but w/e}
Aaaaaaaaah I wanna write the next one so bad right now. lol
How would ya'll feel if I started a Kevin fanfiction? I have on that I've been DYING to write =]
