Sorry it took so long. Please read my note at the bottom, also. Thanks!!
Part LXXXVIII (88)
Mia’s POV
I slowly opened my eyes, letting the bright overhead light shine through. My body was sore, and my eyes hurt to open for a reason I didn’t know. I didn’t know where I was, how I’d gotten here, or how long I’d been here.
I had strange wires coming off of my arms, and a tube underneath my nose.
I saw Joe sitting in a chair right next to me, holding my left hand, head buried into the bed I was laying in.
“Joe.” I whispered, my voice cracking.
Joe slowly lifted his head, his eyes blotchy and red, like he’d been crying. His lip had stitches in it, and his left arm had a white bandage wrapped around it.
“Oh thank God.” He breathed, and gave me a huge hug.
I still had no idea what was going on. I needed answers.
“Joe, where am I?” I asked as he pulled away from me, still grasping my hand.
He took a deep breath. “You’re in the hospital. When we got you to my house last night, you passed out and hit your head on the floor really hard. You wouldn’t wake up, so we called 9-1-1. You were abused by Jade and Chris. I don’t know if you remember that, though. Kevin and I saved you from them, because they were doing really bad stuff to you.”
I stared at him, trying to take in what he’d just said.
How had this happened? I didn’t remember it.
But I did remember walking into Chris’s home.
I remembered going into their basement, and finding myself in a cold, dark corner, while the hit me with a belt.
“B-but, how?” I stuttered.
Joe put his finger on my lips to hush me. “Just rest. I’ll explain everything later. Your parents are on their way back from Nevada, and my parents are here on their behalf. They don’t know much about your personal medical history, obviously, so you’ll need to answer a few questions possibly before your parents get here.”
“Thank you Joe. That means so much that you guys are doing this for me. Where are your brothers?” I asked.
“First, you don’t even have to say thank you. It’s a given that’d I’d do this for you. I mean, that we’d do this for you.” He smiled. “And second, Kevin took them home about 2 hours ago. Frankie doesn’t like hospitals that much, it freaks him out to see people in hospital beds. And Nick needed to rest and eat, he wasn’t feeling too good. He was feeling light headed. They’ll be back up later.”
“But how did I…” I began to say again, and Joe stopped me, yet, again.
“Rest Mia. Please. I don’t want you to hurt yourself. They don’t know if you have a head concussion or not yet, so they want you to take it easy.” Joe said.
“Can you please tell me what happened though? The whole story, I mean.” I requested.
Joe shook his head. “Not now, but I will, later. I promise. We’re supposed to keep you as calm and mellow as possible. Please. I really don’t want anything to happen to you. I don’t want to lose you.”
After Joe had said that he didn’t want to lose me, I let a tear slip.
He didn’t want to lose me. He loved me that much.
“Why are you crying, baby?” Joe asked, wiping away the tears I’d let fall from my blue eyes.
“Because, you love me.” I sniffed.
“Of course I do.” He said, and kissed me lightly. “I’ll always love you. No matter what happens.”
“I’ll always love you, too Joe.” I said.
“Did anyone ever tell you that you have the most gorgeous blue eyes?” Joe asked, smiling.
I smiled. “It only matters that you tell me that.”
“You’re so beautiful, Mia. Inside and out. Please, don’t ever change.” Joe said.
“I won’t.” I promised. “You don’t ever change, either.”
Joe smiled. “I promise that I won’t ever change.”
“Good.” I said, and squeezed his hand.
Part LXXXIX
Joe’s POV
I walked back up to the area Mia’s room was in, a Starbucks coffee in hand. I’d been awake for 36 hours practically, resting my eyes for a short while before Mia finally woke up.
At the time, I wasn’t allowed in the room with her. They were doing tests and asking her questions, and didn’t want any influence on the results by my family and I being in there.
I watched Mia as she had the test done through the window, or mirror. I think it was a two way mirror, because Mia looked over at us twice, and didn’t see us. Or she did and didn’t do anything.
“You okay?” Mom asked me.
I nodded. “Yeah, I’m just worried I guess.”
Dad had gone home to check on the guys, seeing that they weren’t answering the phone. He wanted to make sure they were alright.
“Funny how easily it comes, huh?” she smiled.
“What?” I asked.
“Worrying.” She replied.
I sighed. “Does it ever go away?”
Mom frowned. “No. It doesn’t.”
“Why am I so worried?” I asked, confused by my own emotions and reality itself.
“Because you’re in love, Joseph.” Mom told me. “I know. I’ve been there.”
“I really think she’s the girl, Mom.” I said.
Mom smiled. “From your mom’s point of view, I think she is the girl for you, too. You two are perfect together.”
“I’m still confused on what love and a relationship really are sometimes. It’s not like the movies or in a book where everyone is happy and lives happily ever after. This is reality. This is actually happening. And, I have to be honest, I don’t understand what my own heart is telling me.”
Mom brushed my black hair out of my eyes. That had always driven her crazy. “I felt the same way when I met your father. I didn’t know what I was feeling, why, or what to do. It’s not like the movies or in books. It is real. This is how people actually feel when they find that special someone. And Mia must be your special someone. And I guarantee that she feels the same way about you.”
I smiled. “I know she does.”
“Then what’s the problem?” Mom asked
I shrugged. “Nothing. Everything. Love. Our hearts. Us.”
“The fans and paparazzi?” Mom asked.
I nodded.
“Don’t let them get in the way of you finding your special someone, Joe. I know that you boys love them to death, and you give everything for them, but sometimes, you have to put yourself first. Does that make sense?”
“Yeah, it does. I know they like her, but I don’t want her to get hurt. I mean, it happened before. And when I dated AJ it happened and stuff. I really don’t want her to get hurt, and I don’t want to get hurt, either.”
“Just keep as much as you can on the DL.” She said.
“I know.” I sighed. “I know.”
“Hey” she said, messing with my hair again. “You love her. That’s all that matters. Who cares what anyone else thinks.”
I smiled. “Thanks. I really do love her.”
“I know honey. I know.” Mom sighed. “Just remember, if you love her, everyone else will, too.”
“Why do you think that everyone else will, too?” I asked.
“Because you love her, and you’re happy.” She told me.
{Author's Note}
Okay guys, I'm going to tell you my ideas for these chapter(s) that I just posted above.
And I'm going to be honest with you, because this is important, actually...
In these chapters, an idea I had was to actually kill off Mia. I know, that sounds horrible and cruel, but...
I can guarantee the story would not have ended there, or close. Joe would've continued to live in disbelief of it, and soon to believe she never even existed. He would've gotten that tattoo in honor of her after he finally believed in her. She would've become her guardian angel, looking over him all the time. She’d always be in his head, and he’d talk to her sometimes when no one was around.
Even though she’d be gone, he’d still live for her. He’d still love her.
I didn’t write this idea for a few reasons…
1) Mia’s one of my favorite characters.
2) Mia is Joe’s one love
3) Joe’s family love Mia
4) The story would pretty much be over.
5) I don’t like killing people off.
So, Mia probably won’t be killed off anytime soon, if at all.
I just wanted to share that with you, so you could imagine what direction my head was putting this story in…
Like I said, Mia won’t be killed off.
Hope that makes everyone happy =D
