Part CIV (104)
Mia’s POV
Today was an especially hard day for me. Today was the day Joe and his brothers would be leaving on their tour. Today was the day I was supposed to be going with them.
I didn’t feel like getting out of bed or anything today. I felt depressed, for more reasons than one.
Despite my feelings, I got up and hopped on my laptop.
I stared at my computer for a while, wondering if what I was reading was true or not.
It was an email from Joe…and it was his final goodbye.
I was bawling reading the email, wishing I’d never opened it.
I didn’t even want to reply to it, but I decided to anyways.
Even if I gave the shortest reply ever.
To Joe:
From Mia:
Goodbye.
I pressed send, and it hurt terribly. I wanted to wake up from this nightmare, but it wasn’t possible since it was harsh reality.
“Mia?” My mom knocked on my door, pushing it open.
“Hey Mom.” I sniffled.
“What’s wrong?” Mom asked, coming over to comfort me.
“Joe and I officially broke up.” I told her.
She looked shocked. “What?! No! We liked him! He was a good boy!! Your father even liked him, which is quite shocking!”
I laughed. “Yeah, well, apparently he wasn’t the right guy.”
“Or, are you just overreacting? He wants you to be safe, Mia. He cares about you. And because he cares, he’s breaking up with you. I know that probably doesn’t make sense…” Mom began.
“It doesn’t.” I interrupted.
“Let me finish.” She said. “I know it probably doesn’t make sense but men just don’t make sense. Although, I understand why he did what he did. I couldn’t be in a relationship where the other person doesn’t care about themselves.”
“I guess you’re right.” I sighed.
“Well, let’s do something on a happier note. Girls day out!” Mom said, changing subject.
I smiled. “What did you have in mind?”
“Well, I thought we could get our nails done, and go get our hair done…” she started.
“Remember how I said I wanted the reverse treatment on my hair done so it was blonde again?” I asked.
“…Yes…” Mom said, and her face lit up. “We’ll go right now! Get dressed, and c’mon!”
I laughed. “Okay, okay.”
~5 hours later
Mom and I returned from our outing, and I felt like a completely different person.
“You look more beautiful then ever, Mia. I haven’t seen that smile in so long.” Mom said, running her fingers through my hair.
I’d had the reverse treatment done, as well as had it re-dyed…but blonde this time, just like my natural color.
I smiled. “I love you Mom.”
“I love you too, honey.” She said, giving me a hug.
Rebecca’s POV
Mia was beautiful, of course. I always thought she was, but now she looked even more beautiful than ever. She was so much happier, even if she was sad from her breakup.
I wish that she and Joe hadn’t broken up though. They were so perfect for each other.
Mia went upstairs to her room, and I was left alone downstairs. Brett wouldn’t come home from work for a while longer.
I decided to call Denise. She’d called me earlier. So what if our kids broke up? We could still be friends…
Phone Call~
“Hello.” Denise said
“Hey Denise!!” I said cheerfully.
“Hi Rebecca! How are ya?” she asked.
“I’m good. Yourself?”
“Great! I wish that Mia and Joe didn’t break up though.” She said.
“Me too. I wish there was like, something we could do. I know Mia is really sad about it, and I’m sure Joe is too. I’m trying to convince her to call him and tell him that she cares about herself more now, because she really does.”
“I wish we could too. Maybe Mia could fly to one of the shows sometime.” Denise suggested.
“That sounds perfect!” I agreed.
Denise and I discussed more details for the plane trip.
Now all I had to do was convince Mia to go…
Part CV
Mia’s POV
I walked out into the living room the next morning in my pajamas, with a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch in hand.
I flipped on the TV to the 6 o’clock news.
And what I heard was the most shocking news I’d ever heard on this station.
“Last night the body of a 18-year old girl was discovered in the bayou along Old Country Road. The body has been identified as Jade Wallings. Along with the body a knife was discovered with blood that has been matched to Wallings’ blood along with fingerprints found on it. Why she committed suicide is still yet to be discovered, but we will be sure to have the story for you.” The news reporter said.
“MOM!” I screamed, waking up probably the entire neighborhood.
“What’s wrong?!” Mom asked, running down the stairs.
“Jade died!” I shrieked.
“What?” She asked, confused.
“She committed suicide. Her body was discovered last night.” I told her.
“Oh My God.” Mom gasped.
“I know.” I squealed. “I’m like, blown away. I didn’t think she’d go and actually kill herself.”
I didn’t know whether to be excited or sad.
