Chapter 7
Kati sat a few sheets down on the bed and placed her hands on her thin hips and sighed.
“You okay?” she asked softly as she made her way past me and over to the mini couch to pull it out. Her fluffy blonde hair flipped as she walked and my stomach dropped yet again when she spoke. I wish it would stop doing that.
Fixing my eyes on hers, I lost my train of thought and forgot to answer as I sat down on the bed again.
“Nick?” I shook my head out of my trans to find Kati sitting on the bed next to me. My heart flipped as she placed her hand on my shoulder.
You don’t like her, Nick. You can’t like her
“Yeah, I’m good” I managed to say as she stared at me suspiciously.
“Okay…” she said not too convinced as she ran her fingers through her hair and got up to continue pulling out the couch.
“So, what are all these medals for?” I asked scanning the board of medals on the wall that I was looking at earlier.
“Soccer, Baseball, swimming, random stuff like that,” Kati answered not moving her eyes off the sheets she was placing over the couch.
“So you are quite the athlete,” I said surprised that I could get so many words out in less than two minutes around her.
“Well, I was…”her voice seemed to drop with a disappointed tone
“What happened?”
“Well, I started acting, and that became my passion.” She flipped her head up to look at me as I felt my cheeks tingle from her gaze.
“Really…I was an actor for a while, you know…I was on Broadway and everything,” I said noticing I was trying to impress her. I quickly shook that thought from my head.
“I know” she replied quickly reminding me that I wasn’t the kid down the block anymore, everyone knew my name. The though of that made me miss New Jersey. I remembered that when you weren’t famous the beautiful girl next door didn’t know who you were, where you came from, or even your name. You would lie in bed at night thinking of ways to let her know you exist and how you would win her over with your hidden talents and charm. The thought of that made me think if Kati saw me as just another boy or a rockstar that wasn’t dateable, but I quickly shook my head slightly and moved on like none of it mattered. I couldn’t like her.
“So, do you want to go anywhere with acting,” I said standing up to help her put the last sheet on the bed. The corner of my eye caught her eyes light up and a smile creep onto her face which released more butterflies to engulf my body.
“Yeah…yeah, I do” I smiled at her as she sat down on the couch next to me brushing her hair back with her finger tips. Noticing her blush when she caught my eyes on her, my lower jaw dropped slightly.
“What?” She giggled pushing my arm slightly.
“Oh…nothing” I winked as I turned my gaze back to the room.
Did I just do that? Did I just wink at her? Oh no, I can’t fall for her…
This time, I ignored my thoughts and just stared at the white walls side smiling in silence. Maybe just maybe she liked me back…that is if I did like her. I stood up and turned around to face Kati. She smiled softly as I looked at her and reached my hand out to help her up from the couch. I shot of shivers wigged through my arm when she grasped my hand tightly and pulled herself up.
Yup, I definitely like her
