Chapter 5
I woke up the next morning at five so I could get ready. Surprisingly today, I had no problems with bad karma or whatever you would like t o call it. I decided to take the time and straighten my hair. I added a few clips as I finishing touch. I ran down the stairs to see my mom at the stove making breakfast. She hasn’t done this for a while seeing as she has always been working. I gave her a smile and sat down at the table as she served me eggs and toast. This morning I didn’t have to guzzle my orange juice like I had so many times in the past. It was really nice. I could feel my breakfast start to come up as I looked at the clock. I would have to leave for school soon, which meant Joe would be there, waiting for me.
I took one last look in the mirror and went outside. Joe was walking up my driveway. Thank god he didn’t ring the doorbell, otherwise my mom would answer and she would suspect something. I gave Joe a meek little smile and we began to walk down the street. “Hey did you get my friend request on MySpace?” he asked as he synchronized his steps with mine.
“Yea, I got it” I said, I was hoping that would be enough for him, but I don’t think it was.
“Did you accept it?” he asked. I could hear the hope in his voice. Normally I would say no and watch the guy squirm but I was feeling a little generous this morning. I nodded my head. He just returned a smile. We didn’t really talk the rest of the way there. The bell rang a little while after we got there. Dominique glared at me as she saw me arrive with Joe. I just shrugged my shoulders in attempt to tell her I didn’t know what was up with him. But I knew certainly well.
We went through all our boring cl*CENSORED* again, and in each one I learned a little more about Joe. Like he has three brothers. And his dream is to be a comedian. Although I hadn’t really heard him crack any jokes. So I don’t see that career in his future. The bus ride home was really….. Interesting. Dominique, for some reason had gotten on our bus, probably to make sure I would stay away from joe. Well, she can have him. I don’t see anything in him anyway. Okay, maybe I didn’t totally mean that. But he just got to be really annoying.
I gave Joe a wave goodbye before heading into my house. “Who was that?” my mom said in a singsong voice. I groaned I was now about to be attacked by questions.
“Who was who?” I asked trying to cover up the fact that I knew very well who she was talking about. I never was a good liar. I could get away with some things, but barely. She raised an eyebrow at me. And I cracked under the pressure that wasn’t there at the time, but I knew I didn’t speak up it would come back later to haunt me. “Oh he’s just a new kid from school” I replied sitting down at the counter and eating a chocolate chip cookie. My mom shook her head. I knew she thought he was more than that. But he wasn’t.
I went up to my room, checked my MySpace, all there was, a comment from joe asking if we were still walking to school together but I wasn’t in the mood to write him a message that consisted of three letters. Some of which I think you should know.
“Crystal dinner” came my moms voice from the bottom of the stairs. I washed my hands and ran down the stairs to see we had guests. I assumed this was Joe’s family he always talks about. They all looked like him. I smiled. I would have to talk to my mom about this whole thing later, but right now, I think I’ll just enjoy diner and maybe get to know these people….our new neighbors.
sorry its kinda short , but my eyes hurt. hahaa and again it was just a filler. i need a day to think about what i am gonna do with the next chappy!
