So Bring on the Rain; And Bring on the Thunder.
A oneshot.
Age 9;;
She loved the rain. She didn’t care that her hair would frizz up because of the rain. But the two things she loved more than the rain was the thunder and her bestest friend in the whole wide state of New Jersey, Nicholas Jonas.
“Nicholas?” She nudged the dark headed nine year old boy.
Nicholas smiled shyly as a rain drops fell rapidly on his face. “Yeah ,Elizabeth?”
“Do you love Broadway?” She asked. Elizabeth had been to a few of his shows, he was quite good. But she had always wondered if he just liked Broadway or did he love Broadway.
“ I don’t know. There are things that I love more…but you can say I love Broadway.” Nicholas replied.
“What things do you love more?” Elizabeth asked.
“ Well--” Nicholas started.
Thunder sounded off then some lightening.
Elizabeth and Nicholas’s parents were the only ones who really referred to him as ‘Nicholas’. His brothers just plainly called him Nick.
“Nick! You crazy kid! Time to come in!” Nick’s older brother ,Joe, called.
“See you later?” Nick looked at Elizabeth. Her eyes shone brightly.
“Of course silly! Remember…when you see rain and thunder…think of me.” Elizabeth smiled.
Age 12;;
Nick had stopped Broadway and recorded his own solo album. Elizabeth had feared that he’d become insanely famous and forget all about her. But little did she know that her best friend in the whole wide state of New Jersey wouldn’t ever forget her. No matter how famous he got.
Elizabeth and Nick sat on the deck eating pumpkin pie. The special pumpkin pie that Denise had always made for his birthday. Rain droplets suddenly began to fall. Nick and Elizabeth both made attempts to save their pumpkin pie. But it was no use.
“Bring on the rain!” Nick sat his pumpkin pie down and put his arms in the air.
“And bring on the thunder!” Elizabeth hugged her best friend.
“Happy birthday bestest friend…” she muttered into his side.
Age 13;;
Then soon he and his two brothers, Joe and Kevin, had gotten a record deal and they were known as the Jonas Brothers now.
“Promise not to forget me?” Nick asked Elizabeth, both of the thirteen year olds had tears falling from their eyes. They were both losing the best friends…and each other’s secret crushes.
“Forget you?,” Elizabeth tried to smile. “You’re face will be everywhere.”
“So I don’t have to worry about that huh?” Nick wiped a tear that was midway down Elizabeth’s cheek.
“Not at all. Promise to remember me?” Elizabeth asked.
“Always. So bring on the rain.” Nick said.
“And bring on the thunder.” Elizabeth finished.
“You’ll always be my thunder.” Nick hugged her goodbye then hurried off to the car and he was off to California.
Age 15;;
The home telephone rang. Thunder rumbled causing Elizabeth’s stomach to fill with butterflies, only because she knew that rain came along with thunder…and rain reminded her of Nick.
“Hello?” Elizabeth said then scraped the birthday icing off her plastic fork. Today was her birthday.
“Go outside Thunder.” the familiar voice said.
“Be right there Rain.” Elizabeth smiled and tossed her fork into the trash after she had hung up the phone.
“Nick!” Elizabeth threw her arms around the soaking wet rockstar that she proudly called her best friend.
“Elizabeth!” Nick hugged her tightly.
“ How’s Hollywood been treating you?” Elizabeth asked once Nick had let go of her.
“Just fine. Oh. And happy birthday Thunder.” Nick kissed Elizabeth.
“ I love you Nicholas.” Elizabeth replied.
“ I love you too Thunder. I always have.” Nick smiled.
