Ashley’s Point Of View:
Ugh. I couldn’t believe what I was doing. Besides, it wasn’t a date it was just ‘hanging out’ with my best friend, who just happened to be, Nick Jonas. Yes that’s it. Best friends we were indeed. But why was I second-guessing myself?
I shut the door on my way out of the house. Nick and I started walking down the sidewalk towards the ice cream place. “You know, I just realized. I have a really bad stomach ache, and you know what. I’m really not hungry for ice cream.”
We both stopped walking, and he turned and looked at me. “Ashley.” He smirked at me, narrowing his eyes. His chocolate brown eyes, glistening in the sunlight. I thought they were going to blind me.
“Yes?” I looked down at the sidewalk. There was an old sticky piece of gum stretched out towards the left of me. It was a bit disturbing, and definitely gross. Nick let out a small laugh. “I know when you lie to me. In fact, I know a lot more than you think, Ash.” I let out a deep breath, and looked up at him.
“Is that so?” I quietly replied.
He only nodded his head, with a small smile glistening across his smooth soft face. I let out a deep breath and we kept walking to the ice cream parlor. We finally came upon the door, and Nick opened it for me. I walked inside. A smell of sugar and sweet lingered the room.
“Drop the girl she’s no good for you..” My cell phone began ringing to a song written by Hit The Lights. My eyes grew wide when Nick glared over at me, just exchanging a smile.
I read the pink smooth shiny surface that read Iris. I quickly answered, only to yell “I’LL CALL YOU BACK.” I definitely spoke it a lot louder than I had anticipated. Nick just giggled. “You could have taken it, Ash.” I just shook my head, staring down.
Nick and I ordered our ice creams, and we went to check out. I went to pay, but Nick insisted that he’d pay for me.
“I practically dragged you out, so I insist.” He just kept repeating. And I just smiled in thanks.
Nick really did have such amazing eyes. They were so easy to fall into, and get caught up in. We exchanged laughs, barely eating our ice cream.
I took a bite of mine, to find Nick staring at me.
“Hm?” I asked, looking up at him. He just continued to smile.
“Oh nothing, you just have a little something there. Can I get it?” He smiled some more, which caused me to smile even wider.
I giggled as Nick grabbed his napkin, lightly dabbing on the side of my lip. “You’re more of a piggy than I am, Ashley.”
I suddenly then felt completely comfortable with Nick again. We were back to the way things used to be. Back to when we were best friends, when everything was normal.
“I wouldn’t count on that.” I laughed even more, showing my teeth. We finished up eating, and walked out of the parlor still cracking up.
I suddenly remembered Iris had called me. I quickly dialed her number pressing send.
“ASHLEYY!?” She yelled from the other line.
“Yeah, what’s up?” I quietly replied, trying not to cause as much disturbance like I did in the parlor previously.
“WHERE ARE YOU?!” She yelled once again, which caused me to lower the ear volume in my phone.
“We’re on our way home.” Nick glanced a smile at me, which caused me to giggle. He whispered something to me, but I couldn’t quite make out what he said.
“HURRY UP I CAN’T TAKE THIS AWKWARDNESS ANYMORE!!” She was shouting even louder than she was before.
“Okay, okay! Calm down! We’ll be back in 10 minutes.” Nick smiled at me again, which caused me to giggle even more.
“Okay, maybe 15.” I shut my phone, continuing to smile.
Nick and I talked, and continued to walk back to the Jonas’ house. We didn’t rush at all. In fact, we actually took our time. Nicks phone started ringing, to a tune by Fall Out Boy. He flipped open his phone, looking at the screen.
“Oohh, let me seee!” I grabbed his phone, looking at the screen that read. ‘Miley.’
I looked at the screen, pressing okay to read the text message.
I miss you bby-boo. ily<3
Mileezz<3
I began to stare at the screen in sudden shock. I felt my heart begin to race, and my stomach drop practically down to my toes.
I silently closed the phone handing it back to Nick.
