*Chapter Three*
Mikayla sat down on her bed.The girl had had a very tough day at school.First, Joe coming over to her house and driving her to school,second, people gossiping about her even more. Mikayla grabbed on of the pillows on her bed, shoved her face into it and screamed, hoping tomorrow would be better. She hated her "Underdog" status, but she had to take it. It was the only thing left.
Joe paced around the living room. He and his brothers were trying to write a song for thier upcoming album, and had been for the past two hours.
"Got any ideas, Joe?" Nick asked.
"Well-I-no." Joe stuttered.
"I have an idea." Kevin said "Why don't we write something that has a meaning to us?"
"We already wrote 'Mandy'" Joe said "So what do you want us to write it about?"
"Anything. Just make it mean something." Joe grabbed a piece of paper and began drawing. Nick grabbed the paper.
"Joe," He said, showing it to Kevin "This is a drawing of a girl in a bikini!"
"We haven't been sitting here for two hours so you can draw girls in swimwear!" Kevin said.
"Well, i guess my mind went blank," Joe replied.
"Nothing new." Kevin said under his breath.
"What?
"Nothing.Now pick up this pencil and write us a hit." Joe threw the pencil and notebook down and ran out of the living room.
Joe raced down the stairs of Shadowbrook High. He was stopped at the bottom by the jocks.
"Hey, kid!" one of them said.
"What? And my name's Joe."
"Okay Joe.Do you wanna be cool?"
"Duh!"
"Then listen to me and listen good.that girl you've been hanging out with, oh, what's her name?"
"Mikayla."
"Yeah. That girl.i hope you know she's an Underdog."
"Yeah, I know. So?"
"You said you wanna be cool, right?"
"Uh-huh."
""Ditch her and join us."
"What?"
"Stay away from her and you can join our posse."
"Me? One of you?"
'"Yeah. You get till the end of the day to ditch her. Then, if you choose not to leave Mackenzie--"
"It's Mikayla!"
"Like it matters! If you choose to stay with your precious Underdog friend, you're out for good.If you try and double-cross us, you know hanging out with her while your with us, you're out.Think about it, Joe. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance.You got til the end of today." The jocks pushed by Joe to go up the stairs.
