Marni’s POV
I had managed to convince my mom to take me and a few friends over to Hodgies, it was Becky’s first day of working and I wanted my free ice cream.
“One FREE Mint Chocolate Chip.” I sang out as I walked up to Becky’s window.
“Hey, How’d you get here?” she asked me.
“Mom brought me and some friends over to hang out.” I said leaning on the counter.
“Oh, That’s Cool. 6You wanted Mint Chocolate Chip, Right?” Becky asked me.
“Yeppers.” I replied taking my ice cream from her.
“There You Go ma’am.” She said.
I smiled, “I like you working here. I get free ice cream!” I smiled as I took a bite of the minty chocolatey goodness.
“Yeah, well, it’s not free for me.” Becky pouted taking off her ‘uniform’ and grabbing her keys from her cubby.
“Oh, is your shift over already?” I asked pushing my bangs from my face.
“Yep, and now I am going home to see if Meghan wants to hang out.”
She walked away to her car as I waved and said “Bye.” But I doubt she heard me.
I walked over to the rock Ali and Brittany were sitting on, spooning some more ice cream into my mouth.
“Hey Chickas!” I said smiling at them.
“Hey Marn.” Brittany said pulling some grass out of the ground.
“So, what do we do?” I asked, we had a few hours to kill.
“I say we roll down the hill, but that’s just my opinion.” Ali giggled.
I finished my ice cream and threw away the container.
“Ok, Let’s go roll down the hill.” I said pulling Brittany up from the ground while Ali stood up on her own.
We walked over to the hill and together rolled down it, giggling when we hit the bottom.
I looked out across the field, “Let’s go mini golfing?!” I asked my friends.
“Sounds good.” Ali said and Brittany nodded.
We went mini golfing and my mom picked us up when we were done. Becky got home around the same time we did, Meghan still in tow.
“Meghan, are you eating Dinner with us?” My mother asked.
“No. We have to go to Wal*Mart. Just had to grab Becky’s uniform first.” Meghan told my mom.
“You’re working tonight?” I asked Becky. I wanted to spend some sisterly bonding time with her, but apparently now she was never going to be home.
“Yeah, Marn. Sorry.” Becky said before turning to our mom, walking backwards, “I’ll grab something at work.”
My mom nodded at her, “Ok. Don’t forget to eat though.” Becky walked out the door and heading off to Wal*Mart.
After dinner I sat down on the couch with the popcorn and Juno I had planned on sharing with Becky, but she wasn’t here. I had a good time though, watching the movie by myself then heading upstairs to go to bed.
