Becky’s POV
“We can go to the tropics, sip pina coladas, shorty I can take you there. Or we can go to the slums, where killas get hung, shorty I could take you there…” Meghan and I screamed at the top of our lungs as we pulled into the busy Wal-Mart parking lot.
Meghan works with me at Wal-Mart, she works the cash register in the electronics department so we are like, really close together so we can just talk until someone asks me to find them a CD that we probably don’t have.
Everyone in Wal-Mart loves us there cuz we go in, arm in arm, skipping to some random song they are playing on the intercom. I know we are weird but it makes people get in a better mood so we don’t have to listen to their crap while working.
We put on our dorky, blue vests and our “HI MY NAME IS DORK” pins and walked to the back of the store to man our posts.
I felt really bad for leaving Marni at home because I knew she wanted to watch a movie with me. We have been planning it for days but I was called into work so I had no choice. It will all pay off in the long run though because I would have two tickets to hopefully, the best thing she has ever seen in her life.
“Here’s your paycheck Ms. Parker.” My manager, Scott, said handing me a ‘fat’ envelope. “Thanks Scott.” Is aid and ran out the door with Meghan.
I woke up at 2:00 in the morning for a certain reason. I slowly, and quietly walked down the carpeted stairs and over to the counter where I quickly scratched out a not for my mom. It read:
Hey Mom,
Went out for ‘Something’. Don’t expect me back all day. I will be gone. Tell Marni I said good morning and I’ll see her tomorrow!
Love, Becky
My mom knew that ‘something’ meant that I was going to get the tickets for the concert. That is the only reason I got up so early. Normally, I would get up at about 10:30 without an alarm clock but I had to get up early so I could be first in line.
I had taken a large thermos of coffee to keep me awake so I could make it through the whole day of sitting and waiting.
I sluggishly got out of my car and grabbed a fold out chair out of my trunk, then I made my way over to the Box-office. I giggled to myself as I saw no one standing in line. I was thinking that I was at the wrong Box-Office but then I remembered that I had bought tons of tickets for concerts I went to a few years ago. People are just too tired to come at 2:00 in the morning, but not me. I am CRAZY!!!
I unfolded the chair and slouched in it, my sweatshirt wrapped tightly around me as I sipped my Coffee and listened intently to my ipod, waiting for day break.
I had also brought my laptop along so I could charge my ipod when needed and stay connected to the outside world cuz I would be stuck in mine for another eight hours until the tickets go on sale.
About three hours later, there were about 36 other people in line behind me.
I had earned enough money from my two jobs to get backstage meet and greet p*CENSORED* and it was all for my little sister.
I had gone through two packs of Orbit gum, slowly chewing as I zoned out a few times, my head falling forward, but soon later nodding back to life. “a guy, about 17, kept on laughing at me. He must have thought it was funny that I was so tired but he didn’t get up wayyyyyyy too early, or else he would be falling asleep, in the same situation as me.
Megster876: how you doin champ?
XDbeckoXD: Hangin in there. Almost fell asleep a few times and I’m freezing. How you doin?
Megster876: pretty good. I woke up early just to see how you were holding up. I’m going back to bed tho. Have fun! Only 5 more hrs. YOU CAN DO IT!!!
XDbeckoXD: Geez, I sure hope so. Goodnight!
Megster876: bye, I’ll ttyl. Hang in there. LUV YA!!!
Megster876 has logged off at (5:02 am)
I logged of AIM and closed my laptop, deciding to doodle on a few pieces of paper I had brought with me.
I was a pretty good drawer, but I was going to go to college in the fall on a Music scholarship. It is something that I’ve always wanted to do since I was five or six and I can’t wait to leave, even though I will miss Marni, Meghan and my mom and dad.
“Hey, wake up!” someone shouted to me as I lifted my head and looked around. The sun had come up and it lit the whole world around me. “wait, what? Where am I?” I asked looking around and rubbing my eyes. “oh yeah, that’s right, I’m in hell.” Is aid with a laugh as I looked at the person who had waken me up. It was the guy that was laughing at me earlier. “there is 15 minutes till the Box-Office opens. Just thought you should know.” He said with a smile. “oh, thanks!” I said stretching my arms and taking off my sweatshirt that I no longer needed cuz it was soo dang hot outside now.
I knew this guy couldn’t be a Jonas Brother, he was too nice. And plus, he didn’t look anything like the guyz in the magazines Marni kept shoving into my face.
I quickly walked up to the window of the Box-Office and waited for the person to get situated inside. “Uhmm, two front row tickets and backstage meet and greet p*CENSORED*.” I asked politely, trying to not have my tired, crankiness show in my voice. “That will be $360.” The woman said. “DANNNNNNGGGG!” I said loudly as I pulled out my wallet and handed them my cash. All that I had. They soon gave me my change and I smiled at the two, green and white tickets with two, laminated backstage p*CENSORED*. I grinned ear to ear as I placed them in my computer bag and collected my stuff.
I rolled on home, my face as happy as ever, as if I hadn’t really awakened at 2:00. I was just happy that my sister was soon to be VERY happy.
I got home and ran up to my room and brushed my unruly hair before finding Marni in her room, blasting the usual through the speakers. I pounded on the door as loud as I could so she would eventually hear me. I heard the music stop and the door handle shook before the whole thing swung open. “Marni, I have a surprise for you, sit down.” I said and walked into her room.
