Okay guys;; so I have tried writing FF's and they turn out fine until about half way through writer's block starts kicking in. This is going to be a 3-shot story with an epilogue. At first it might seem like every other story you've read here but give it a chance and I promise, you wont be disappointed.
Run Baby, Run
I met her back when I lived in Wyckoff, New Jersey. She was the extreme opposite of me; extreme being the key word. Everything from her jet black hair streaked with purple highlights, to the funky buttons on her NYU hoodie, down to her name; Aiden, was unique, eccentric and perfect. I learned to love Aiden's quirks such as needing to sleep with a nightlight on even at the age of 13 her hatred of bubblewrap and butterflies and her love for collecting wristbands from amusement parks and concerts she had been to. I knew her inside and out.
My parents didn't always agree with our friendship, saying she would end up on America's Most Wanted before the age of 16. Apparently they weren't the only ones who felt that way. Her parents decided to send her off to boarding school for the 2006-2007 school year in hopes of an attitude adjustment. In turn, I experienced my first heartbreak. I loved her. Although she seemed to have a tart personality, the people closest to her knew what a sweet and kindhearted person she was. Her love for life and need for thrill made me love living life as well. Although I had my family, I didn't know how I could make it without her.
Flashback--
"Nick are you almost done writing about your obsession with her?", yelled joe from the bottom of the stairs. "I think she's outside!".
I made my way quickly down the steps and sure enough, I heard her knock. No one could mistake it was her;; 2 quick hard knocks, 3 taps and one ring of the doorbell. Joe walked away making kissing noises, acting like the immature idiot that he's always proven himself to be.
I opened the door smiling, but my face instantly dropped when I saw Aiden's tear-stained face. I leaned my guitar against the wall and quickly enveloped her in a hug, taking in her citrus-y scent. After knowing her for 6 years, I knew Aiden was not the type of person to cry. She's dislocated her shoulder 2 times and has experienced many sprains and aches; not once did she ever complain or cry. She has always said 'physical pain isn't a crying matter, it leaves cool scars, but emotional pain is what leaves ugly ones'.
"Don't worry I'm here for you, I always will be, even when you get back from boarding school", I said while rubbing her back reassuringly. "I wrote something for you, um do you want to listen to it now?"
"There's no better time than the present", she said letting go and trying to force a smile." Come play it for me rock star", she said with a wink and led me towards the couch. She’s always encouraged my passion for music and has even helped me write a few songs.
“Uh, do you mind if we go outside?”, I asked, not wanting my parents or anyone for that matter listening to me spill my heart out to a girl.
“Sure”.
We sat on the back porch swings, the sun had already set and the only noise to be heard was the soft murmur of the television from inside and crickets chirping.
“Nick, are you alright?”, a sense of worry falling upon her. I barely noticed my shaking hands and I could only hope that she couldn’t hear the drumline going on with my heartbeat.
I simply nodded and began to play.
They come and go, but they don't know
That you are my beautiful
I try to come closer with you
But they all say we won't make it through
At this point I closed my eyes, afraid of her reaction.
But I'll be there forever
You will see that it's better
All our hopes and our dreams will come true
I will not dissapoint you
I will be right there for you
Til the end,
The end of time
Please be mine.
I finally opened my eyes and I wasn’t sure how to interpret the look on her face. I hoped it was good kind of shock she was in, so I took a chance and kissed her. The first and last time I had kissed her was when we were 9 and it ended up in her shrieking at how gross it was and accusing me of having cooties.
This time, it was worse;; she ran.
