Every Last Word~Chapter 15:
The food came rather quickly. Probably we were the only ones in there. Jerica was flirting with Kevin like no other, but she was being really cool about it. If that makes any sense. She was always good at flirting in a non-obvious way. That's why she usually got the guys.
We ate in moderate silence. Every so often someone would ask something, spark a short conversation, then it would become silent again. Unfortunately, Joe and I let go of each others hands. It felt like an Acme anvil was dropped on my heart when his hand left mine.
I couldn't help but feel sorry for Nick. Here we were, Kevin and Jerica were flirting together, Joe and I were starting something (I think...I hope), Nick didn't have anyone to couple up with. So I started up a conversation with him.
"So Nick, tell me about yourself," I said, being rather vague
"What would you like to know?" he asked, taking a drink of his Diet Coke
"Um...special talents other than music-related things?"
"I make awesome Mac & Cheese," he replied proudly
"From scratch?"
"Of course! It's the best way to go!"
I laughed. "Okay, so tell me some random facts."
"Um, I'm diabetic, a neat freak, and I--" but I cut him off
"You're diabetic?!" I asked surprised
He nodded. "Yep."
"How long?"
"I got diagnosed in November of 2006 [me-I think that's right, I keep forgetting], but I'm fine. I've learned how to control it and it's all good."
"Wow, okay. And you're a neat freak?"
"Like you wouldn't believe," Joe piped in
I turned to him and smiled. "Really?" I turned back to Nick. "How are you a neat freak?"
"Color-coded closet," he replied
I let out a laugh. "Are you serious?!"
He nodded. "Don't worry about making fun of me. I get it from these guys all the time."
"No no, I'm nt making fun. I do the same thing," I replied
"You do?" the brothers asked
"Unfortunately," Jerica answered
"Hey, being organized is not a bad thing," I defended
"But when your hangers match the clothes they hang and the hangers are in a rainbow-type as.sortment, then that's an illness," Jerica said
"I have to agree with that," Joe said
"Hey!" I nugded him. "It's not my fault I'm the cleanest twin."
"What's that's supposed to mean?" Jerica asked, appauled
"Oh please, you have stuff all over your room. I scared one day that when you open your closet, you'll get hurt or lost," I replied
"That's how Kevin is," Nick said
"Hey, I'm not as bad as Joe," Kevin defended
The conversation went on for a long time. And time passed too quickly.
There you are! I decided to post since I'm in such a giddy mood. Enjoy!
