The moment the two of them were safely inside, they each took one look at the other and burst into a fit of laughter. They looked like drowned rats. His brown curls were drooping down making them cover his eyes more than they did before. Her dark brown hair with the two blonde chunks was sticking to the sides of her face. Their clothes were sticking to them and were becoming quite heavy and cold thanks to the rain water.

Malou went into the small bathroom down the hall and got both of them some towels. “Here you go Nick,” she told the handsome boy in front of her while handing him the object.

He took the towel from her and used it to try and dry off his curls some. “Do you think I could borrow some of your brother’s clothes? Mine are kind of wet and cold.”

Malou didn’t answer right away seeing as she was admiring the muscles that she could see thanks to the wet shirt. But as soon as she realized what he had asked, her eyes shot up to meet his while a slight blush started to creep up her cheeks. “Um I’m sure he’d understand. You can get something from his room while I go change myself,” she told him before the two of them walked up the stairs to the two separate bedrooms.

Malou changed quickly into a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt that had the saying “Come to the dark side…we have cookies” on it *thank you Pink for the saying*. She quickly combed her hair after drying it off some. As she made her way down the stairs, she saw Nick sitting on the couch still drying off his hair. He was wearing one of her brother’s sweatshirts and a pair of his skinny jeans. She couldn’t believe how he managed to make her older brother’s clothes look good. No scratch that, he made them look amazing. Of course he made anything he wore look amazing.

“Hey,” Nick said as soon as he saw her. She looked beautiful even just dressed down. He always loved seeing her, considering he didn’t get to see her often. He would love to bring her along with him on tour, but she had school and her parents wouldn’t go for that idea no matter how much they loved his family.

“Hey,” she answered back as she took the seat next to him on the couch. She looked from him to the television to see that one of her favorite movies was playing which brought a smile to her face.

“I thought that you might like to see this again. Even if you have seen it almost a hundred times already,” he teased her.

“Shush. You know that you love this movie just as much as I do,” she replied as she settled into her seat. After only a few minutes, Nick’s arm was around her shoulder and her head was resting on his shoulder. This was the normal position for the two of them when they watched movies. It just felt natural for them to sit like this.

Almost as soon as the movie ended, Nick’s phone rang. Malou sat up as he answered it and decided to go into the kitchen to get a glass of water. When she came back into the room, Nick had his wet clothes in his hands and looked like he was getting ready to leave.

“I take it that was your mom,” she spoke up. His head snapped up and he locked his eyes on hers.

“Yeah it was. Apparently Kev’s on his way to pick me up.”

“Oh, well it was great seeing you,” she responded. Her face had become disheartened because she knew that he was leaving again early the next day for the next city in their tour.

“Malou, you know I’ll miss you. I always love spending time with you and if I could I would totally bring you with me,” Nick told her as he stepped forward to take her into his arms. He hated having to leave her. It broke his heart every single time.

“I’ll miss you too Nick and I would love to come with you. But we both know how my parents feel about that,” she muttered as Nick pulled back slightly. She felt his hand cup her chin and soon she was looking into those wonderful chocolate brown eyes of his.

“I know. But know that I will try my best to call you every single day.”

“I know you will. You always do,” she responded with a slight smile. She heard the sound of a car honking. “Sounds like your brother’s here. You should go.”

“Not before I do something,” he said. Before she even had a chance to ask what it was, she felt his soft lips on hers. At first she was shocked but it didn’t take long before she kissed him back. When they pulled apart he pulled her into another hug and whispered in her ear. “I love you.”

“I love you too,” she whispered back. He held her for a few more moments before the honking got more persistent. He pulled back, gave her one more peck on the lips, and left her house.

That was seven years ago. She smiled as she reminisced on one of her favorite memories. Her first kiss and the first time she and her husband said “I love you“ to each other.
